Wish this can be introduced in Abuja. The driving skills of these taxi drivers /commercial and even private drivers here in Abuja is worrisome. We seriously need an ambode or Fashola as FCT minister.

what About traffic light violators ?? that should be 100k to teach impatience drivers lesson

And One-way peddlers.
But truly as commendable as this is, the roads also need major repairs.
I think Sanwo-olu is serious-minded, I just hope he sees it to the end.
Continuity is key.

That country is the only place on Earth you'd find the fines for traffic offences bigger than the country's minimum wage.

For those still living there permanently Please do yourself and family a favor; get out of that shiit-stain on the world map while you can.

Thanks.

The yellow line is strictly for BRT buses, if you pass 3rd Mainland Bridge, you must have seen a special dedicated lane with yellow paintings also the Yellow Junction Box are seen in areas like Fadeyi etc, they are restricted areas for cars and buses

Government is finding difficult to pay minimum wage, yet a fine as much as minimum wage is being awarded. May God also award them punishment for road maintenance failure that fuels traffic offences.

Let's be realistic, sir, when your side of the road is in a deplorable state, it might be difficult to be lawful.
US and other developed countries work because they take their development seriously. Govt does her part so that it's easier for her citizens to be law-abiding.

Let's be frank, these fines are excessive and they mirror the incompetence of the traffic officials in carrying out their tasks.

If those who are to uphold traffic laws break it with impunity, how then can they oversee its implemention?

The traffic officials don't care much about traffic laws but are out to extort traffic offenders. Their prime interest is shaking down vulnerable motorists rather than ensuring that traffic laws are followed.

In countries where motorist obey traffic laws, the traffic officials are passionate about the law and their jobs and punishment isn't selective. If these same attitudes were in our officials here, there wouldn't be need for these exhorbitant fines which are simply used to frighten offending motorists into paying them large bribes to get off the hook.

Simple they need traffic quotas. If they're corrupt prosecute them. You just need to make sn example of a few people before the rest of the masses fall in line.

I doubt it will work. The country is fantastically corrupt. It's part of the country's DNA.

it's the legacy that Babangida left just like Rawlings left a probity legacy Ghana. In other countries, many of our past leaders would be in jail. Look at Lula of Brazil or Fujimori of Peru. In Nigeria, they are instead statesmen.

What is so worrisone is that the populace support these crooks. Tinubu and the late Saraki are lionised. Diezani was defended by Asari Dokubo because she's his ijaw sister despite being roped into corruption going into billions of dollars.

As long as it is honourable to be corrupt, don't expect any changes anytime soon
