stop blaming economic woes on population but on the structure of the economy.

ur pop was around 9m in d 60s while south Korea was 28m, both of u introduced family planning about d same time. Today, both of u have almost d same pop, why? U introduced urs to illiterates and poverty stricken people who doesnt understand d concept of family planning and u cant force them to succumb cos they werent under military rule while S. Korea introduced theirs to educated populace.

U weren't a producing country in the 70s. More people didn't get wealthy because ur econony wasn't diverse in d 60s n 70s.. ur growth was majorly from agriculture, theirs was from selling top-notch equipments to developed nations.

They grew at an average of 10% for 33years (1962-1995) according to world bank.

As you can see Asian Tigers were not doing any "miracle" that Kenya for example was not doing.

They did.... were u producing electronics in the 60s? Were u responsible for over 60% of manufactured products sold in third world countries?

The real miracle was they began thinking about controlling their population in 60s while we started doing the same in 1980s, having controlled population, they invested heavily in human capita (education & health care) for the next generation, that came of age in 80s - and were able to leapfrog many countries to developed world status.

I see the same starting to happen in Kenya - we began taking pop control in 80s & 90s - and we are starting to see the benefit. Our gdp has grown the last 15yrs from around 15B dollars to 100B. Our population growth has nose-dived. If we keep the same growth trajectory - then surely by 2030 - we will be middle class

South Korea was investing heavily on industrializing the country n not human capita, they already had an impressive human capita as at that time.

The Arab parliament has issued a warning to Kenya on the maritime border issue between herself and Somalia.

In a post shared through Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs twitter account, the notice written in Arabic stated that Kenya had drawn a “new, unfounded map” of the border.

“The #Arab Parliament calls on #Kenya to stop its hands on #Somali territorial waters, which are an integral part of the Arab waters, and rejects its false pretensions to draw up a new, unfounded map while rejecting its threats to interfere in #Somalia‘s internal affairs,” Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs captioned the notice.

The Igbo King of the Nigerian Community in Ghana, His Royal Majesty, Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu is pleading with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) to temper justice with mercy following the attack carried out by some of its members on some Nigerian traders at Suame Magazine in the Ashanti region.

He said, though foreigners are not supposed to engage in retail business in the country, he believes the action by the Ghanaian traders was an eyesore.

To him, majority of Nigerians in retail business are ‘hustlers’ and therefore there was the need for a bilateral agreement to find a lasting solution.

“In the first place, these Nigerians in the retail business are hustlers and we are not intending to break laws because I know it’s illegal for foreigners to do retail business in Ghana. All I’m saying is that, our brothers in Ghana should temper justice with mercy because we are brothers,” he stated.



Chief Ihenetu was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen, Thursday.

Some Ghanaian traders on Tuesday and Wednesday ransacked shops and forcibly closed down some shops in the area belonging to Nigerians.

Chief Ihenetu is pleading with Ghanaian traders not to mar the relationship between Ghana and Nigeria.

“Let’s not mar the relationship between Ghana and Nigeria with this small issue of trading. We should know that there are many Ghanaians in Nigeria. I am begging GUTA and its members not to see fellow Nigerians as enemies because your businesses are not collapsing,” he noted.

Our gdp has grown the last 15yrs from around 15B dollars to 100B.Our GDP per capita has about doubled in 5yrs. Our population growth has nose-dived. If we keep the same growth trajectory - then surely by 2030 or earlier- we will be middle class with about 5k USD per capita and who knows by 2050 we will be a developed country.

I wish I could say the same about Nigeria - maybe South Nigeria will achieve those goals - but North Nigeria is a huge mess.

Our HCI is tops these parts so coupled with our rapidly improving demographics I think we've a very good chance of avoiding the middle income curse. Also since we're already well diversified and not resource dependent I honestly think we'll at least quadruple our GDP per capita to 8000 k $ by 2032 latest.
