The only reason this is an issue is probably because the guy is broke. Maybe a mai lemu or a mai shayi and daddy had better plans for his daughter to marry an alhaji.

How does this change the fact that the legal age for wilful sexual engagement in Nigeria is 18? You can kick against the law and advocate for amendment but till then, this remains a crime.

Yes, rich men have ways of working around prosecution. That's not good, we know. But you asking "how is this a crime?" is mind boggling. She's 16. If anyone impregnated my 16yr old daughter, I'd definitely be mad.

No bro. The law tries to be as explicit as possible. Having se.x with a minor is one crime, impersonating a minor is a different crime. And he has not denied that part yet.
