dividend declared by coys is subject to approval of shareholders at AGM. the shareholders have spoken loudly, they want the cash reinvested and in fact they want the coy to do rights at maybe 5 or 10 per share. there are many coys listed on the NSE that does not deserve a Kobo from any investor. if you fall into their traps na you know wetin you dey find there. I wonder how this coy will survive the new recapitalization demand by NAICOM

It just occurred to me that all of you kept mute when we mentioned that Regains cancelled dividend pay out but when fidelity cut dividend from 22k to 11k, we know how many pages you wasted doing forth and back with Chibuking being the chairman then. undecided
Issorite. Another one will happen, let's see anyone drag it beyond one page and see if police will not arrest him/her. undecided
Its only Mpeace that said one good point and spoil it with the second point. grin
On a serious note, these corporate thieves are taken investors for granted too much, it's just too bad. Well, we're getting wiser by the day.

you want to buy UPL at 1.60. you will wait forever ooòooo. Q3 EPS was 60kobo and Q4 likely to be 50kobo and dividend expected to come in at 20kobo. there is possibility of bonus issue also. result to come in next week. same for Red Star Flour Mills and Honey well.
Valueinvestor:

This your choice of selection is dope for the long term, my only reservation is just eterna (please what informed your choice of selecting it, I wouldn't mind looking into it in future). And dat portfolio looks like 60% banking (Nigeria my fatherland - crazy policies might shake this portfolio small o), however amount allocated to each stock would take care of that. Just for proper representation in each sector (this is personal - my own meaning of a well diversified portfolio , may not be applicable to all), I hope you wouldn't mind if I added the following to the list

Ucap (2.25 and below)
Upl (1.6)
Berger paints (6)
Dang sugar (if it ever comes below 11 again)
Uacn(6)
Nahco (2.8 and below)
Redstar express (5)
Cap plc (25)
This list is obviously not exclusive and is subject to change /review by the gurus in the house, however, one can keep enjoying the dividend (most would give close to 10% dividend yield when picked at the right price) until their potential is discovered by the investing public when one can now sell when it becomes overpriced.

Thanks for this, guess its the first time I'm hearing that such decision can be changed, even after communicating and publishing it on NSE website.

Madam Yayi, strange that Ghana has yield of almost 20% p.a on Tbills, was there any devaluation/ high inflation in the country. With 19.5% interest rate, you can easily double your money every 3.5 years.
Kindly let me know what i am missing regarding the bolded please.

There’s no devaluation oo but our currency is suffering against all major currencies $€£..
when I read here about how our foreign brothers with hard currency are trooping into Ghana, I went asking questions..cos I’m currently not in the country..
My 58 years old mom was the first to play me scores.. and since then I’ve been seeing 19,50% everywhere.. lolz grin grin if I go for 5 years ( at least by then buhari would be through with his next level)
Turns out the government “over” promised the people so they needed to borrow money to fulfill their promises lolz or get voted out.. they want to impress the people..
This made yields high.. plus stock market, GSE CI is down by 6% YTD so people prefer to lend to the government instead..

The main reason to me, is the promises they made in their budget..

Never say never when it comes to stock market. Prudent investment is all about timing. I got some at 1.67, so wats the big deal about 1.60, Getting those stocks at those prices does not necessarily have to be today or tomorrow, but just know it surely can happen ( especially in a clime like ours just wait till they make someone like Okocha or Oga Bello minister for finance, or chairman national economic planning, then you will know that good stocks can come down to an unrealistic level)

Who ever believed wapco could come down to 9.25, or flourmills 13+, FO 17,, guinness, NB, Just to mention a few.

There are no free lunches in the financial markets. How can there not be risk of exchange rate volatility? Those yield are rewards for risks, so higher yields comes with higher risks. There is however value if you can speculate the future direction of exchange rates and then trade in line with your expectation.

See the first two snapshots below. The first is the performance of the cedi against the dollar while the second is the performance of the naira against the dollar. Both currencies lost ground against the dollar in the last 5 years but the naira lost more, the third snapshot proves this point - you need less cedi today to get a naira compared to 5 years ago. If you had invested in Ghana 5 years ago you would have earned those yield plus exchange rate gain, by now, you would have l owo bi Adnuga.

I do not expect going to Ghana now to be a good bet because I think the naira would strengthen in the next 36 months. Aliko has started producing fertilizer and refining of petroleum products will start soon, max next year. Even if he doesn’t export to earn FX, our demand for FX will be down by about 33%(not sure of this figure and can confirm atm) as that is what the cbn uses to fund fuel imports.

For me, any bet against naira assets with a horizon of 36+ months will not payoff.
