stale news.. the increase had been returned to its former tariffs on Thursday.. I gave the warning when it was implemented on the 1st of this month but the adverse effect of it's increase would be devastating.
but I believed NAFDAC DG has Human feelings and all stakeholders too would have intervened...
the over 300% increase had been returned to status quo.
those that work in the airport as freight forwarders would understand..

In a country where the govt are unwilling to invest in medical research on tackling age-long epidemics such as malaria, cholera and just to mention a few. Now they plan to double the financial pain we go through in getting the drugs. This might just be a conspiracy theory of them planning to wipe a good proportion of us away to avert the looming collapse of the country by 2050 as there seem not to be any other measure taken so far to balance out the geometric increase in population.

What happened naaw! Drugs shouldn't be something the government will joke with anymore. It's something that's to do with life. A good thinking government shouldn't do anything that will hinder its easy accessment by the people. Most especially a country whose minimum wage is low, delayed salary payment and with voluminous numbers of poor people. Buhari should stop all these.

The government joke with roads, roads that kill people everyday, they joke with everything dear because you and i let them both by our actions and inactions.

greedy lots...most of these professional associations are established extort more money from the public.

imagine the pharmaceutical industry, one of the most profitable sector,if not the most profitable,is talking about increasing cost of drugs.

most of those anti-malaria drugs sold at 700 naira and above are actually worth btw 150-200 naira when bought from the manufacturers

Nigerians should take more herbs, fruits and vegetables ...then avoid processed foods, hard drugs, alcohols etc so as to avoid these greedy pharmacists

Then buy from the manufacturers!

Distributors must make their money irrespective of the product's price immediately after production. Pharmacists are not greedy, they just have to make their money for products and services offered. How is that greed (even though greed is a good thing)?

Yes, take herbs and fruits to treat uclers, diabetes, stroke, malaria, cholera, gonorrhoea etc.

The Lagos State Branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN, has told Nigerians to expect a 100% increase in drug prices.

PSN chairman in Lagos Mrs Bolanle Adeniran, who spoke at an event organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Thursday, stated that Nigerians should expect a 100% increase in drug prices in about six months from now if the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control does not reverse the 350 per cent levy it imposed on drug and product registration in the country.

Punch reported that she said that NAFDAC also needed to eliminate the delay associated with registration of drugs and related products, adding that the registration could take over two years in bizarre instances.

Funny but true.
When Buhari came with his ancient economic ideas, prices of commonly available anti-timalarials dramatically and drastically went up.
Many Nigerians that hitherto could comfortably afford the recommended ACTs or could quickly get it prescribed in hospitals, resorted to "agbo",or saw many hospitals reverting to prescribing no longer recommended Chloroquine injection.ACTs shot up from 300-500 at chemist shops to 700-2000,depending the brand.Natural recourse was to cheaper, but not so effective and some harmful herbs you could get at N200
With these new price regime, expect basic health for basic ailments to be further priced out of reach of many,so there is likely to be massive resort to Agbo.
This is the kind of man that rules us in 2019, appointing people of same archaic mindset and unable to think out policies that wouldn't send more people to the poverty line or die from basic treatable ailments.
