Two different type of players.
But Onuachu had a couple chance to justify his start. If he scored one, nobody would be complaining.

oloriooko:
Onuachu wouldn't have scored that Ighalo's goal that's for sure!

that onuachu or what his he called was one of the worst players on the pitch today.henceforth we better start with ighalo as the striker

Burundi played gave all. From defense to attack.

klexycole:

Boss, as you can see, they are playing defensive football and waiting to punish Nigeria on the counter.

Simply put, my point is... They are playing not to concede even if they can't win.

Igjalo was looking very Confident and Sharp. We got the 3points. That is the most important for me. Akpeyi's problem is his body reacts faster than his brain. Congrats Family. On to the next one.

angry my analysis ...

Mikel should come in as a sub when we need to defend and slow down the game ...
Onachu is good but there's no synergy between him and the wingers
Ighalo will definitely start the next match, tho he failed to trap a ball given to him by musa, that should be a goal
Personally i think aweziem is a bit better than shehu
Ola is replicating his club form well
Iwobi gases out easily .. The no 10 should be for him ,then Mikel can come in as sub ... Ndidi tho okay had no special performance.. I "ll give by motm to Aina followed by omeruo and chuks

Etebo doing gra gra as usual ... He was just average ..

I think akpeyi is good .. He's just so nervous ... Observe his first save ...

If Rohr could pull Mikel out, I see no reason why he wouldn't drop Akpeyi in the next match

Ever since Mikel came back to the team, we haven't scored a goal. We scored when he substituted lol.
N:B- I don't have anything against him. Just saying.

Lol

Replace Akpeyi with Uzoho, replace etebor with
Mikel. Very happy with chukwueze, iwobi, musa and Ighalo combination

So you people have quickly forgotten the saves Akpeyi made, abi?

Rohr will never dare replace Akpeyi for Uzoho neither will he bench Etebor for Mikel.

If VAR was used from start of the tournament our goal would have been cancelled. Ighalo was off when Aina passed to him; well thank God for the victory.
No small teams in Africa again oo
It wasn't off. In your picture Aina has already released the ball.

The team looks promising. Very young with good understanding and cohension. Rohr have done a great job and over half of this team will play together for a long time. Aina have really improved, chukwueze was awesome, Iwobi really did well, etebo and ndidi compined well in the middle but the low point of the team is the keeper. Akpeyi na confirm suspect. Omeruo and ekong were assured defensively too

Ighalo and Musa have no business sitting on the bench. Onuachu's overall play has never impressed me at all, he's just a slightly improved version of Tijani.

Like I said before, I hope Rohr has a good reason why Ighalo didn't start today.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Nobody: 8:19pm On Jun 22, 2019
The posession was good, but they need to be more creative & clinical infront of the post. Possesion ain't effective when you're not creating chances to score. Good performance but there's still much improvement & work to be done.

Overall a 7/10 performance.

My top 5 performers:

1. Aina (On point all match long, LOVELY assist)
2. Musa
3. Ighalo (Although a cameo, he scored the all important goal with brilliance)
4. Chukwueze (for missing that chance, else he would be #1)
5. Omeruo

Fellow Eagalians, I missed the first half. How did Obi Mikel perform? Some are saying his inclusion is unnecessary.

AIG07:
The Germans do not need to be at their best to wreck havoc on African sides.

1.They are more technical than an average African side
2..They are taller. So expect them to keep whipping crosses into the box through out the 90mins of action
3.They are more dangerous on the set pieces. If they can't break you from open play, they will take advantage of Corners and free kicks.

Finally, not forgetting, they just whooped the ass of SA.
Cc: Forgiveness

The gulf in gap is too much.

Nice try SFs

How I wish we can have a road map to achieving success at the World stage.

By the way, kudos to Rohr for mustering the courage to hurl Mikel off.

My perception of Rohr is starting to change small small.
No one is talking about the team's passing accuracy. To me, their possession, pass accuracy, and offensive play have improved.

Candidly, Ola Aina is an upgrade to Jamilu Collins. He's very offensive and contributes massively to the attack.

Yes, you may say it's Burundi, but the team really tried. We can only hope they improve in the final third and the sick players recover rapidly.

Overall, an interesting match!

...The Land is Green
Noticed it too, we moved the ball with pace and accuracy plus lots of sharp 1-2 passes, I've not seen a Nigerian team play like that in a while

Mikel should replace etebo at the double pivot

Not that etebo didn't play well o

I don't think mikel will be benched

I don't know how many times some of us will say this; Mikel is not a 10, maybe he was years ago well not anymore. Got subbed off and within few minutes Iwobi like a true Arsenal product is spraying through balls like G.O 90. Jeez undecided

Ola Aina with a MOTM performance at LB. Excellent assist!

Chukwueze balling as usual. Gave the opposition defenders a torrid time. Look at that attempt he zigzagged past the hapless Burundians and tried the lob. Exquisite!
