Victor Moses was the game changer.

Yes, I think Musa and Chukwueze could do what Moses did in 2013 in this 2019 team.

Someone said ekong was poor? I wonder if you watched the match and have followed ekong since his move to serie A. The player that didn't live up to expectations was mikel, aside him all the players balled wella.

Ekong was atrocious, especially in the starting of the game. He had an okay second half but awful first half.

Another coach will come with a different philosophy which will take the players time to get used to. Na my opinion sha

Should the hype start? cheesy
The boy has it in him but he should learn to pass it sometimes instead ofshooting cos his dribbles open up space for our players to capitalize on

Which also likely but what's the essence of changing a coach the players are already use to his system and philosophy?

Like I said the first games are always difficult. I have not started judging the team yet.
There were some lapses, but we controlled the game very well especially in the second half. We showed a desire to win. Of course goals are important, else we will all be condemning the team now.
"Ighalo miscontrolled a pass", but he scored a brilliant goal. Which ever comes first, it doesn't matter. It's a case looking at the glass as half empty or half-full.

I disagree that Burundi did not play to win. They showed real intent going forward from start to finish.

TheGoodJoe:

The comments feel like if it was all rosy. If Ighalo did not make that finish and Aina's brilliant pass, that would have been one hell of a game.

We controlled the game because Burundi sat deep, not because we were overly on top of our game. Even Ighalo miscontrolled a pass that was a good chance.

Good we won but we should notice that we were shaky and made lots of faulty passes and unforced errors. There is a lot of room for improvement and we should know a better side will not be so unforgiven.

Okay Rohr should remain the coach until all these players retire grin
When it comes to a point that Rorh can't do better than he is doing now, we will have to move on. These players play for clubsides. Getting used to a new coach is their way of life.

Is that not what I explained that people wanted to chew me raw? Missing a chance is okay if the team is creating chances. Not crucifying a player for missing.

Burundi showed intent but lacked real quality. Intent is not the deal but quality to make use of the chances, which saved us.

Good we won but we should not let it look like we were the real deal. There is room for improvement, need for us to know our lapses are glaring and we need to tidy our game quickly.

Nice finish from Ighalo, needs commendation but we need to also know Ighalo needs multiple good services to shine. We need to work on making sure we are creating loads to get the best from him.

We are talking of the game, no need deflecting the point. Kelechi is not in the team and is not in the equation.

The coach made many silly mistakes and he nearly paid for it, Mikel should have played deeper and had no business going forward, for once I thought musa is coming in for etebo which shld have allowed Mikel to go deeper and control the mildfied this would have created stability. We could have lost or drawn this game if Burundi had taken their chances.

Secondly I still do not understand the relationship between shehu and rohr, he cannot tell me that shehu was fully fit before this tournament, he knows fully well that the guy is just returning from injury and now he is definitely out of the tournament before it even start.

Had it been we didn't see aina perform people will still say he is not ready .. Lack concentration bla bla bla...

In summary, if we eventually don't get to semi final that coach needs to be booted out.

This team will win this AFCON, if the keeper can just keep composure. My only fear is the keeper, other than that, the Super Eagles have the best team in the AFCON tournament.
