Guy, it's very tough as a single student, and it will be tougher as a student with a family. Who will take care of your kids in the UK when you are studying and your wife is working? If your wife is prepared to be a fulltime housewife at the expense of her own career, it will be impossible to sustain the family whilst working only 20 hours per week as a student. It's best you come alone for your course. You can always go back to Nigeria to visit your family whilst on your course, or you can get them to visit you. If you finish your course and you get a work visa, you can then bring in your family as dependants.

I am sponsoring my self....I can afford to pay my tuition before I leave naija and safe up to 2M to cater for some expenses till I get work to support myself. As for the maintenance fee that is needed to stay in account for 28 days, a friend is willing to help with that. Is there any other thing I need to put in place?

Not a good option and that route is allbut closed now. You can't do that for 10 years to be eligible for ILR.
Have you looked at Tier 1 exceptional talent visa? Have a look to see if you qualify or retrain and see if you can get an endorsement.
The route you are plannign will be something like this:
1 yr MSC - You
1 yr MSc - Your wife
PhD - You - 4 yrs
Phd - your wife -4 yrs
Total 10yrs then apply for ILR.
That's too many years to put your life in limbo.
You can look for a Tier 2 sponsor as well.

Not sure such exists in the UK.
There are other teaching qualifications, but I’m not sure if your wife can get T4 Visa for those.
you want to ‘switch’ places with wifey after your own has ended. Wifey must pay school fees. Would you have saved enough from your 20 hour per week wages? Or wifey’s permanent night shift job?
Guess what?
Your wife will pay thousands of £££ in school fees.
Your wife will need to show evidence of maintenance funds for herself, and 4 dependants.

If your ‘ulterior motive’ is to use T4 Visa to migrate to the UK, you need to think (10x7X3) Times.

I know some religious folks will tell you nothing is impossible with Allah/God/Oludumare/etc... but bro, if I can be frank with you, this your plan will bring untold hardship, not just for you but your family.

Much people aren't aware of that route I also just learnt about it this year. Plus in my experience a lot of our guys aren't willing to put the leg work. They prefer easy routes (baby mama etc).

After my MSc I got on T1GE and help no less than 5 people with endorsement, business plan/pitch preparations who were successful.

I gingered at least 20 people who were just nonchalant about it and some are back in naija, others are overstaying.

For the T1ET if you have a strong thesis/ fee publication in naija. Form one or two out of curricula activities (national society of *your profession here*) get a letter from federal ministry of science/arts/youth (Roger your way to this). Etc etc

All this would help ones application for endorsement.

The rest should be raising money for IHS and application

Basically to work or school in the UK you need a form of sponsor.

Tier 4 to study the letter is CAS
Tier 2 to work the Letter is COS
Tier 1ET/ startup visa/ innovator visa. to work/self-employed/own a business it is Endorsement

Depending on what route you are coming into the UK the respective organisation responsible to sponsor your visa would require you to meet specific requirements.

To study prove of English, previous education, etc
To work previous education, experience, etc
T1ET prove that you are exceptional in your field, track record etc.
Startup/innovator visa valid unique, scalable business idea etc.

That is what endorsement is all about, I guess you are already aware of T4 since you were coming as a student to read more on the others search for the respective guidance on UK.gov website.

The only thing you have to do now is go to the post office and buy a self address special delivery envelope for £7.40. This is after you have completed the online forms and paid 130 dollars. After completing the online form and you are validated. You will will get a date to go and do data capture.
