Sweet deals arent an everyday thing. A phone that costs 100k in Nigeria market is posted here for 70k by a deal hunter. An average importer gets it for 85k to bring to sell, but a prospective buyer who has seen it here prices for 80k just because he's seen a 70k tlc cos hebelieves everyone buys it that way. This is not buisiness.

That the thread is fixed permanently as the first topic on Frontpage is a flaw. It welcomes every Tom dick and Harry, who come here to price things ridiculously not knowing how things work out

Why are there issues here from time to time? It's cos of the high risk of this biz. Many phones don't come in perfect condition. A buisiness with high risk must also come with good profitability, such that it can make up for the days of losses.in this buisiness you can loose over a 100k in the twinkle of an eye. How do you then get that back if you sell for peanut profits?

I don't seem to understand the terms low-balling here. This shouldn't be an issue here .When a picker posts a deal and tagged it deal of the week. Mad deal or juicy deal. Please what do you all think was responsible for you kind of deals?

Let's note also that the picker also have people from Nairaland that buys from US stores like eBay and Amazon.

Any seller has the right to sell his item at any price, even higher than CV. Your thinking approach towards this is flawed, deal hunters spend a lot on data.. Lot of time to negotiate deals, stay up most nights, lose cash too to failed pickups, most deal hunters too don't buy in bulk (which is where regular importers cut down cost price to gain profit) Sometimes, item arrives and comes up issue not advertised by seller, hence you have to fix and definetly have to raise price a little to accommodate losses.
So if a seller lists his item for a certain amount and it doesn't fall to your preference, move on..

So all suggestions and reactions were/are based on that.

If you think you want to buy something that’s already in Nigeria you go to the ( AIN ) thread to buy or post your already in Nigeria items

But if you post TLC on AIN or AIN in TLC thread dragnet should send that person on vacation (chop ban)

It's very provoking how some people will just wake up one day and bring up unrelated issues. This is Nairaland, owned by Osewa not Any other person's property. If Seun decides to sell the whole NL tomorrow to someone/a brand who's going to use it for another different purpose entirely, so be it.... Though, it might be unfavourable to some but the fact is He owns it and he can do whatever he wants with it... (everybody will move on, finding a better means to do their daily business.)

But it's a different case here. It's unacceptable for any other random user to call for the closing down of a thread, section etc without solid and concrete reasons... as long as the thread isn't breaking rules. If you feel, you're not relevant wherever you're... you move to where you'll be relevant. Not that you'll ruin that place where you are irrelevant solely because you were not relevant. Who relevance even help..? Some people are even more interested in being relevant (tagged the lord of a thread/section) forgetting what's more important, making money. The only real problem we have here is how people get into hands of unserious deal hunters, sellers and buyers and we should be concerned about taking proper measures to solve that problem, not creating more problems.

In short, I'm not for nor against this issue at hand but it's annoying how issues are being brought up without reasons every now and then. This shouldn't even be a debate. This is a thread to advertise deals, so be it. But a quick reminder to those who intend to create or join selling groups off Nairaland, they've at some point tried it in the business section, on the ecurrency thread... Ask them how it ended!
