OP said "it puts a woman at risk". He never said it is a cause.

In life, there are things one does to REDUCE THE RISK of falling into difficult situations. Just like has been said here, having a security gate at your house reduces the risk of being robbed. Not having a security gate is not a cause of being robbed but you can be sure that if you left your car where there was no security gate and you were robbed, you would be told that it was your fault.

While indecent dressing should not be looked at as a cause (not even THE cause), there is no denying that just like avoiding dangerous neighborhoods, just like avoiding drug use and drug users, and just like avoiding known rapists, decent dressing is another way of reducing the risks of being raped, molested and or harassed.

IT IS NOT A CAUSE OR THE CAUSE OF RAPE. It is an action taken that helps to reduce the risks of being raped.

well said bro.

Your ignorance i suppose.

Or what do you have to say when a 10 month old child is raped? She dressed provocatively?

We're talking about why young girls and grown women may be at risk of being raped, and ways that reduce their chances of getting raped, but you've decided to ignore facts and possible solutions, you're conceited you've resolved that there is no reason why a man rapes a woman.
That's why you're still talking about when a 10 month old child is raped.
Would a rapist rather defile a 10 month old child or a half dressed woman? If you ask me I'd say a great deal of the latter are being raped; hence the aforesaid solution is for them.

It's true that there is no vindication for rape or rapist. Bottom line is take precaution, don't worry about the causes and reasons because there is no good reason or cause for sexual harassment, worry about preventive measures, protect yourself.

lol where did I type that?

bigmic111:

you agreed indecent dressing plays are role at least.

why there is an increase of rape in Islamic countries is because of easy access to pornography and worst of all hypocrisy on the part of those that practice Islam there.

it is wrong to view pornography based on their religion but they still go ahead and do it in secret. now they get addicted to it and suddenly have the urge to try it out. etc

point is "indecency" is still the major root cause. every dysfunctional behavior in society have their pathways that have been studied but in this age and time, nobody wants to agree their "indecency" can serve as a trigger for rape either for themselves or for another poor victim(be it a baby)
Re: Your Dress May Put You At Risk Of Rape! by Nobody: 1:42pm On Jun 25, 2019
liberalchick:
Like most crimes, for a rape to occur there has to be motive, opportunity and access. It has less to do with ‘indecent’ dressing or porn. If a rapist meets a woman dressed in a burka were he has opportunity and access he will rape her. Motives for rape varies, some get off from the power they wield over their victims, some hate and want to punish/humiliate their victims for rejecting their advances etc.

If porn and indecent dressing was a huge motivator why then do rapes happen in sharia countries, where the women are forced to cover up and little to no access to porn.

you remember this sentence "It has less to do with ‘indecent’ dressing or porn."

it means rape isn't MAJORLY caused by indecent dressing or porn according to you. so therefore the inference from your statement is that it is a MINOR CAUSE OF IT.

it still doesn't rule out indecent dressing. and a guy confirmed this on this topic with a diagram of the leading causes of rape and guess what,

indecent dressing was top of the list!

Fountainofyouth:
Dude, saying what ladies wear cause some rape cases is one of the dumbest shìt I've ever heard, change your topic and mind yourself.
When ladies dress decently it wouldn't stop rape, but it will help a bit to alleviate the problem of rape. If there are 100 cases of rape and you remove indecent dressing as a causal factor it might help reduce the numbers to 95 cases. The 5 ladies who weren't rape as result of enforcing decent dressing is still good news. Therefore indecent dressing is still a factor that must be considered to help reduce rape. But it shouldn't be the sole major factor that should be considered.

If you are a lady and you dress anyhow because you believe your dressing shouldn't matter then you are partly to be blamed when you get raped. The keyword here is partly

I thank God there are those who are not afraid to speak out the truth on this matter. Rape was not as common in the 1970's, 1980's and even up to early 2000s as it is today. You can check the statistics and confirm that for y0urself. At those times, good dress etiquette were 0bserved and taught. Today, our society has been s0 negatively influenced by the warped fashion of the western societies and so we also suffer the high rape burden they suffer. We must tell ourselves the truth now before things become worse. It is even so bad that children are now rape victims! 2c177u

And like I earlier said, indecent dressing is causing much more harm than rape. Do we ever emphasize the harm premarital and extramarital sex is causing our society? Isn't that a result 0f 3 out of 5 girls or ladies dressing as if they were prostitutes? Let us reorientate our people on the right manner of dressing.

If indecent dressing is a cause or risk factor for rape....
Then why are small children a victim of Rape...a question none of the indecent dressing crusaders are yet to answer....
Middle East is a fiercely conservative society when it comes to women dressing....
Yet Arab men are notorious for raping their maids and even killing the victims....
Besides if u agree to pay the bride price of the victim, the court will let u go....
In India, most rape happen in rural regions where fashion exposure is minimal and dress sense is basic....
Yet their men rape women and hang the victims afterwards....
Even in church, where modesty is preached and emphasised....
Catholic fathers abuse boys and evangelical preachers are known to take advantage of vulnerable women....

The manner u guyz talk about provocative dressing, one would expect developed western nations to be the headquarters of Rape.....
Yet most rape are perpuated in underdeveloped countries despite being under reported....
The only exception is sweden which was sane until they accepted massive refugees from 3rd world countries and boom the rape statistics went up....

Numerous studies has shown that Rape culture is entrenched and perpetuated in male dominated society where women lack the voice to speak....
The men determine what's best for their women including who's to blame for rape.....
And of course in a patriarchal system, it will always be the women....

People still ranting on indecent dressing have simply got their heads buried in the sand...
Or I may rightly assume they are male chauvinist with a mix of misogynist, who believe in the entrenchment of a male dominated society where voice of women are obliterated...
So the men can continue to inflict misfortune on women and still turn around and blame the women....

In Nigeria....
It's the woman's fault if she's raped....
It's her fault if she's sexually assaulted at work...
It's her fault for getting pregnant outside of marriage not minding it takes 2 to make a baby....
It's her fault if she fails to bear children for her husband...
It's her fault if the husband engages in extramarital infidelity....
It's her fault if she's a victim of domestic abuse...
It's her fault for a failed marriage n being a single mother....
It's her fault for having children she can't cater for....
It's the fault of a female student, if a randy lecturer demand for sex in exchange for grade....
It's always the woman's fault....
The men are never to be blamed for any ills in the society....
When it's a known fact that men build civilisation, not women....men build nations....

Ok, leave the stage and let women lead if u guys want the female folks take the blame.....

Mba....The African man wants to be in charge, but doesn't want to take responsibility.....
And we can see how well men are leading African nations....
Bunch of primitive men with backward thinking, blaming women for rape in the 21st century....

In othe words, what women wear or dont wear doesn't control the mind of rapists right? So how is my analogy, not exceptions lame?

Certainly the fellow wh0 says there is less rape in developed countries than underdeveloped ones doesn't have the right statistics. We have more reported cases of rape in developed countries than in underdeveloped ones. Is it not in the developed countries we have the ME TOO movement? Why would we have rape allegations against such great footballers like Ronaldo and Neymar, all in developed countries? How women queued up t0 accuse Trump 0f sexual harassment in America, the capital of developed nations? Indecent dressing doesn't help anybody, whether male or female, and whether they live in a developed or underdeveloped country! ba80000000

The rape allegation against the COZA pastor has been trending this weekend and it is a very unfortunate scandal. I hate to hear these scandals about pastors having amorous sexual affairs with church members! While Satan is to blame, I see how we allow him come to steal, kill and destroy. So we act "over-spiritual" and don't care h0w people dress to the services, allowing daughters of Jezebel and sons of Belial to roam freely with all manner of skimpy and seductive dresses and make-up and then the flock get trapped, hooked and overtaken in immorality and social media is awash with scandals! If the pastor could fall, then how many times over the members have fallen! It is time to restore the decency, especially of dressing, that the church stands for. Enough is enough...this nonsense must st0p! Yes it must!

I wrote this beautiful piece before the COZA scandal between bisola and pastor biodun came up.....
It's a good thing my article validated itself by this glaring evidence that cannot be denied....
A pastor raped a naive 17 year old from a conservative Christian background....
A poor girl who just left secondary school and trying to find her feet in her own world.....
The amazing thing is that bisola had elder sisters who are more into trending n liberal Christianity.....
bisola even described their dressing and fashion sense too ungodly for her comfort....

The question is why didn't pastor fatoyinbo gun for those matured sisters.....
The answer is simple...they are not vulnerable...
Despite their liberal dressing styles and possibly liberal sexual attitude.....
They wouldn't take nonsense from any man who dares take advantage of them....
It's their decision to have sex with whoever they please....
Pastor biodun the rapist knows this and that's why the elder sisters were off his track....

The vulnerable one is bisola who just left secondary school and still see life in black and white...
She will later get to learn that there are plenty shades of colour n life is never black or white....

The rapist's prey is just like the lion hunting for spoil....
The weak, the naive, the vulnerable, those easily to manipulate,
These are the ones they can exert their male dominance upon forcefully with minimal inconvenience......
The above is independent of provocative dressing or sexual behaviour of ladies....

Rape is a crime the perpetrator decided to commit regardless of the dressing.

No matter how seductively the victim may have dressed, she probably wouldn’t be as scantily dressed as any professional hôoker.

Pay for sex if the urge is overwhelming. It is always for sale and never scarce in the flesh market.

I am looking at this photo, as every one else is. I dunno where this was culled from, but the number1 on this list is short skirts. Doesn't it occur to fellows here that this constitutes indecent dressing? And the 'rapist' just another separate cause? Meaning an innocent urge can be aided by indecent dressing to become rape, whereas serial rapists exist, right? Why is there still that argument?

Not to condone rape as people tend to hurriedly conclude, nor to change the topic, I find more twisted what drives female rapists.

Hmmm...our opinions will remain varied and diverse about this matter of indecent dressing causing or contributing to rape incidents. There definitly are those, mostly women, who will never see the correlation between the two. I will never justify the rapist but I will keep preaching that we must protect ourselves the best way we can. Do not see danger and wilfully expose yourself to it! In the end, the rapist will face his jail time and will someday be released but the victim will never have their virginity restored or may never put the trauma behind...Prevention is better than cure!
Re: Your Dress May Put You At Risk Of Rape! by Udemeeyenabasi: 12:12pm On Jul 08, 2019
While you make a valid point about rapists exploiting the weak emotional and physical make up of some women, it does not cancel out indecent dressing triggering sex impulse which men may not be able to handle.

Like the example you made of the Biodun DAKolo case, we need to notice that she answered the door in her night wear according to her account in the video interview. Most ladies night wear are transparent and see-through gowns. We cannot dismiss indecent dressing from this case. As a parent will you teach your daughters to answer the door in their night wears?
