Hotfreezers:
He would spend 7 years in prison. They are to run concurrently.

By the time he's out, Osinbajo would be rounding up his first tenure and whoever the Governor of Abia is, he would be sharing Sniper for them to drink.
lolz you're wicked cheesy

Many dumb people on Nairaland. ... he is going to serve 7 years for each of the offense, but to run concurrently, I.e. at the same time. And prison calendar is day and night, so he is actually going to spend 3.5years
7 yrs

Good!!!!
That is the kind of sentence these criminals and corrupt politicians should be sentenced to....without any option of fine.
Not all those rubbish 3 months and 6months jail terms.

But......those 35 years sentence are actually 5 "7 year" sentences which are to run *concurrently*, so he gets to spend only 7 years in jail.

That's still not too bad...7 years is enough to grow some sense in jail.
More of these pleeease!!!!

He will only do three years and six months because the Nigerian calender system is both night and day.

I was there LIVE when they told him his money was 200k after illegally searching through his phone, they'd read every message from sms to WhatsApp, and then his "Google Hangout and automatically declared he is a Yahoo boy...

He offered 50k but they insisted on 200k, afterwords his family agreed on 100k but popo was insistent on 200k because they have seen his account balance...

His family got angry and decided to make a case against the police, hoping if they could prove that police was only after bribe, they could secure some favourable judgement, instead
it was a bad move.

Police decided to teach him a lesson by dragging the case with him...

But the question is "is he really a Yahoo boy?"

We all know most of our police officers are dumb and useless but I don't think EFCC can be that dumb to declare him a Yahoo boy if he's innocent.

I've been in this situation before (although EFCC wasn't brought into the picture).

Some police officers had been trailing my car without me knowing. They double-crossed me when I got to a bad portion of the road and right there they said I was driving a stolen car. I knew what they wanted but I was not ready to cooperate with them.

They took me to their station, searched my phone in search of things to implicate me with. I was calm all along since I was clean- I have no skeleton in my cupboard.

I even granted them the opportunity to follow me to my house and search it but they dumped that idea after seeing the level of confidence that I portrayed.

However, I ended up giving them 5k just to 'wash' my car for them.

So, if the guy is really clean, I don't think he would have been declared guilty by EFCC.

wait ... i say wait first nah ... is this not the same internet fraud that others are getting 6 months to 1 year jail sentences? What makes this one different? Am not against sentencing these fraudsters, but 35 years? common... Maybe i missed something because i no read the whole article.

Edit....
OK, so these are concurrent jail terms. But still 7 years is much. I thought 3-5 years would be punitive enough as well as property forfeiture.
