He checked out the laptop the whole night and it was working PERFECTLY, he charged it and everything you could do with the laptop was working. Then he changed the narrative to, he doesn't have enough money. I told him we already had a deal, that I don't like buyers that behave in such a manner. He said I should pity him that he sold his phone for less than he bargained for. I said I'll remove some money but he insisted he still didn't have enough. I asked him to leave the laptop and go that when he had enough he should come back, he said I should keep his phone that he would pay up the next day.

We finally agreed to the above and he left with the laptop while I kept his phone. He called me that same day and said he noticed the laptop wasn't charging, I told him that laptop is fully functional and he tested it all night maybe he did something wrong. I asked him to return in the evening so I'll look at it. He insisted I must see him that morning, I told him I'm busy and that I can't see him that morning. He insisted so I got angry and took both his money and his phone to him and collected back the laptop.

U bought an item knowing well it has issues, u returned it to the seller he collected it from you and refund you. later u went to pick it back and then u realize same issue. U are honestly shooting urself in the leg. I have said nd will say it again. Any seller can decide to sell his or her item with anything that deem fit but the question did he put gun to your head befor you buy??

Like I said , report the matter to the nearest police and get whatever judgment that comes from it.

This is by far the best comment have read here all day, I sell phones too here on nairaland and I don't think I have had any disagreement with any buyer .What I think is that the matter should be resolved amicably but av got to say that kulkid has majority of the faults

In business the "customer is always right". But this is only applicable in saner societies where the interest of customers are protected through warranties and agreements , hence the bulk of the blame is on the buyer ; not the seller .

Also, the buyer seems to know about the issue of the battery hence he returned it, why did he go back to purchase it again?

Going forward which is the solution, has the buyer been reasonable enough to get a fair after sales help? Obviously no, he even threatened the seller and i bet if this matter is taken before a judge in the court of law, the seller would loose. The magnanimity of letting a total stranger sleep in your house is equal to being Mother Theresa and cannot be overemphasized, it should not be looked at as something ordinary especially in this country where security is a big challenge.

That being said, themonk can just help by refunding the guy and collect his laptop back or agree to pay half the price of a new battery. Also, dragnet should change the title of the topic.

Thank you sir for your honest response you see...what causes dispute in business and even aside business is lack of communication and jumping into conclusion.Like I said before when I first noticed the issue of the battery I took it back to him and tried to explain what was going on but this guy in question refused to even listen to me,he was insulting me.And he gave me my money back! After going home I realized I have spent close to 5K just for tfare and feeding while on this laptop issue.Then I told myself why not call him and try to reason with him maybe this battery is just a minor issue because as at then the laptop never showed anything like unauthorized or not geniune but it was showing plugged in but not charging(NOTE THIS IT'S IMPORTANT).Also my uncle was making threats of throwing me out of the house because my story did not add up...I was in pain and confusion because all I went through was because of this laptop so am I going to just go like that! Hope u understand me! I picked up my phone and called him@themonk and I apologised even if it was not in my place to but I needed us to be on good terms because u never know what tommorow will bring.Someone will always say it's wise to make more friends than enemies! So we reopened the deal...I even took on the liberty to check what the fault was online and I saw some reviews about it but what I didn't know was that the laptop was only refusing to charge the battery because it was an unauthorized battery.This I only noticed after recollecting the system something I regret till today and when I turned it on the first thing it show was unauthorized battery Lenovo will not charge an unauthorized battery for safety reasons.House please I know it was my fault to reopen the deal but let us be honest him@themonk knew the battery was a fake and unauthorized but never told me instead his words were "I replaced the original faulty battery with a follow come".Seriously things only got out of hand when I msg him and the first thing he sent was "YOU ARE MAD".I called him and was talking on low tone but this guy was shouting and insulting me.If we look at this matter very well,this guy@themonk is not a real gee at all.Even though say u get money u are the richest man on earth the rules of business states "never profile your customers/client" "never insult your clients/customers".As long I'm am buying a product from you,you should learn to give me my credit due to a customer.Seriously I am disappointed in him,he claims he's rich and I'm am a broke guy but truth is there is a diff between being rich and wealthy,and wealth people don't brag with their asset.And for your info....I ain't broke I'm above that.I only came here to lay my complaint because I'm hurt at how people treat customers because they have little change.Be humble carry body no dey lead person go any where,I saw how you were insulting the taxify driver who took us to your place that night someone old to be your father.

Let me ask you something try to put yourself in my shoes and ask yourself will you allow a guy who profiled you to be broke and make u look irrelevant go away with a thing like this.Will you allow someone whose only words are insults to you just for airing your view to him go away? Yes I do,my fault was for reopening the deal,something I regret till today.That's my only fault,I could have just walked away and risked a face off with my uncle and allow the rest money I lost which include selling my clean working iphone 6s plus 64gb for 48k that day in computer Villiage just because of this laptop and spending close to 5K for this deal.Bro I was losing approximately close to 20K if not more than.But I could have just walked away if I knew it would turn out like this.Lesson:In life we win some we lose some,learn to know when to walk away!

Truth is if you know me personally you will understand I don't like trouble.I like resolving my issues peacefully and if you go through the whatsapp chats I uploaded you will see a side I replied that I don't want any trouble.The same reason you stated was why I called him@themonk the day I went to his place.Because to me it has happen I'm at fault and u ain't a saint either but how can we solve this issue and move forward.I didn't call him because I need my whole money I called him because I needed him to carefully look for a working battery or if possible we both go to ikeja to return the fake unit because as at then the warranty for the battery was still on my people.But the response I got from this guy almost made me cry,he so blasted me that I con dey ask myself say why I do biz with a heartless person like this.Imagine this guy saying he purposely kept me waiting outside his gate for good two hours because he was watching a dstv programme,God that is heartless.If na your own brother will you do same,seeing I came from a very far distance to settle this issue.It was even after he did this I became harsh with him and threatened him with police! Imagine walking the whole ikeja trying to fix one issue.In fact I gave a guy the laptop to upgrade to windows 10 with the hope of it charging because I saw a post on it abt this fix but the thing no work brother.I still paid the guy his full money for the upgrade.I was inside the rain,guy check am now if na you you go vex make now.Only for me to open nairaland and the first post I saw was his post sweet iphone xr for sale! I have asked this guy to come for refund severally even after he return it that I didn’t want to deal with him, I refused to even sell IPhone 8plus to his friend because I didn’t want to deal with him.
