The correct question should be when last did he take one for Nigeria and what happened when he did? Answer: It led to a goal scored on the rebound by Awaziem. Just last year. brenister10: 2 Likes |

Earthquake3: Exactly., immediately we conceived the second goal I knew we can not score again... Above average defense plus good midfield.. You see the attack? Is Damn poor... No single bit. Our final third lacks idea.. Something is wrong. Indeed we miss vic Moses... His awesome style of play would have unblock the stubborn defense. 2 Likes |

TheSuperNerd:He is not a tournament coach, some of us have said this before. we have no business loosing this game just like the last group game against Argentina in the world cup. I thank God this has happened. Again I will continue to have issues with us having foreign coaches, are we truly sure they are better than our local coaches? 3 Likes |

TheSuperNerd:I personally would've stopped playing Mikel as a 10 after the WC. I don't know what our so called "Chief/Head Coach"(Rohr is TD) is doing - but they need to be sacked. You can't leave the tactical side of things to Rohr especially with the new generation of players we have coming through. Some will say we're overreacting over this loss but they need to go back and check their history. 1 Like |

I don't know which comes first. But with what we have, it's not impossible to play as a team. The coach gets the blame after tutoring this team for almost 3 years or so now. This coach cannot do better even with more quality players DrLikita12: |

edi287: I totally disagree. The reason why we were overrun time and time again is because the midfielders were over worked. Trying to get them to force the attack instead of sitting and mopping up. All Rohr had to do was switch positions and get them to play deeper/close to the defence. We left too much space and midfield, giving room for the opponents to exploit. We had Mikel running from midfield to attack, finding himself inside the box. We had Ndidi running up and down the field like he was saving Leicester from Barcelona on their best days. I have asked why Rohr hardly tampers with the shape of his team. Change roles of players to nullify threats and gaps. Let Ogu and Mikel sit deep earlier in the first half. Second half make a proper offensive change but no. Mister Conservative must defend. |

edi287: You guys are just looking for excuses for Mikel. Play him as AM or CM, Regista or box to box, Deep lying playmaker or advanced forward, he isn't the same player he used to be. In truth, he was always an above average player. I said it. You can't depend in a player like that. He isn't C. Rinaldo or Messi or Van Digk. He is above average at best. Hope we learn from this |

Awaziem is not a RB. This match would have been the right match to start Osimhen.Against a team like Madagascar you need a fast striker like Osimhen. Onyekuru should have started as LWF. I just hope Rohr will be brave enough to give Osimhen and Onyekuru a chance. 1 Like |

Sadiqali24:yes...you are right but Croatia has average players but they reach world cup final.Zambia has average players but they won AFCON years ago. Keshi has average players but came third at CHAN,won AFCON and reach WC R of 16. What matters is how you use the resources at your disposal not the quality of your Resources. 4 Likes |

ChrisKels: Are you comparing Barcelona's style of play with SE? Which player can tire pass like Barcelona players in the SE? Despite the quality players Barcelona possses, they labour very hard to win park bus teams. Fact Which players? What did Kalu do? Tell me. We are talking about tactics and the right players to execute them in park bus situation. Unfortunately, Rohr didn't go with that tactics rather, he wanted to work the ball in from the side and middle. |

enomakos: Not just that ooo, they have score like 6 goals I think while we managed to score two. With all our running and stats (players with the highest dribbles), just all huff and puff with no result. . Average coach, average team |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 7:47pm On Jun 30, 2019 |
Exactly, I do not think Ighalo is our problem. It's largely a collective problem, and it has taken the coach too long to figure out some basic things as regards the strength and weaknesses of his players, and how to blend them together to form an efficient unit. Some observations: 1. You can count on Musa for those magic one-on-one moments, but don't count on him to give beautiful passes. He rarely does. Ighalo is starved from passes, so he relies heavily on his fighting for the ball, and jam body which should have worked on one or two occasion on this game but for our opponent happening to be Ahmed Ahmed's bride. 2. Kalu is not fit. Else he is the number one player you can count on to perfect his crosses. 3. Chukwueze just needs a little tweaking to combine with other forwards, and with his help we can wreck most defenses 4. Onyekuru is an upgrade of Musa, but less experienced. Has similar speed and dribbles, added to that he brings more variety to his scoring boots, need I add header? But that's all at the club level. 5. Onuachu will thrive with a fit Kalu playing his A-game, and Simon on the other side of the wing. 6. When Mikel's AM game is OFF, use him as a holding MF, don't take him off. 7. That brings us to Etebo. I would rather play Mikel as a DM. Those mazy runs and ball holding are unnecessary. It takes away from our TEAM game. Should there be any player I would like to hold on to the ball more, it's Iwobi. And Iwobi is clever enough, he knows when to release the ball, with brilliant service to Ighalo. 8. Osimhen, I can't say much. I haven't seen him much. 9. Ogu is slow. If he is not scoring a long ranger, why use him? He doesn't do anything that other DMs can't do better. 10. Collins helped us during the qualifiers, but there is no doubt now that Aina has cemented his place in this team. I wouldn't start a fit Collins ahead of him. 11. As regards our CBs, we know Balogun is slow to react. Not a good idea to have Balogun when playing against teams with a high pressing game. 12. Ekong is dependable when not on his bad day. 13. Omeruo is made for AFCON. no be today he start 14. As regards Iheanacho (shirt #14 coincidentally). His problems goes beyond Rohr. In summary, I think Rohr has failed to get the chemistry right. Modified On Siasia, you hit the nail on the head. Siasia will give you good attacking football. TheSuperNerd: 2 Likes |

darkelf: If you believe Mikel is not the same player, how can playing him in an unfavourable position be a good solution? Mikel should have been played deeper. Playing him in a packed position where he can not dictate the game is atrocious. Even Iwobi found it difficult, let alone Mikel who does not play such role naturally. There are roles that suit players. 1 Like |
