He doesn't have to use that exact formation, just give some Ighalo help up there. SuperNerd, Na me remain wey never welcome you back. Football is a funny old game. The so called Ghana and Egypt when we meet them will be beaten soundly.

I don't doubt that too because I know that a Super Eagles team that means business and fields her bext XI will be hell for teams to play against. The Eagles of the first two games won and did it with efficiency and doggedness and although offensively, we have not created as much chances and have even been profligate at times with really good chances, that team of the first two games will be very difficult to breach.

The Madagascar loss is a big blow even though we made changes to our starting XI and have automatically lowered and in some cases, killed off the expectations of most Nigerians but I have this funny football hunch that says this second place finish may just work in our favor. It may be a tougher route to the final but we cannot be complacent ever again. This team can still go on to conquer Africa if they play with Crazy anger mixed with their beastly talents. because now they have to show Africa that the Madagascar loss was one big fluke.

Before the Senegal loss in a friendly which was not even recognised by FIFA, Nigeria had gone unbeaten against African teams for two years!!! Two whole years! This run was only halted yesterday since the 2-0 reverse against South Africa.

Apt insight. But it's not enough to just have a second striker. The movement off and on the ball in the final third must be top notch. Look at when Ndidi came in, several times, he had the ball for too long near the opposition box because the formation was rigid in that final third. One expects to see quick movements across the opponent's box, in and out of the box interspersed with quick passing to break the opponent's formation at the back, but unfortunately as you rightly pointed out, the forward players were always isolated especially Ighalo, who always had at least 2 shadows on him.
Seriously, I'm really beginning to wonder what the coaches impact on the team during trainings if the team still looks this clueless when a bus is parked by the opponent. We should not forget that we'll always come against teams which will park the bus, especially if they scored first..... my thoughts...

I read almost every comment since we lost yesterday and realised, what most of us like to say is,


"I told you so"

For whatever reason, I don't know, I guess that's what makes us human. Almost half of us here last Wednesday kept calling for the manager to make changes to the team, rest Taiye, rest Kehinde, Idowu is tired, and so on. Match day came, he did just that, and we went haywire at the end of the match.

Why did he rest Taiye, why did he bench Kehinde, conveniently forgetting we asked for it few days back. Well, that's just what makes us humans I suppose. We won the first 2 matches, and some of us were beginning to see a future with him. We lost the third match and that same set of us went, "I knew he's not qualified to continue with us" and what not.

Playing beautifully isn't what always wins the trophy, winning the trophy is what matters, not how you win it.

Ask how Chelsea won the UCL, how Madrid won their second of 3 in a row UCL.

What I thought we should do is rally behind him and support him, and not getting too emotional. Kai, we're too emotional abeg, everyone waiting to tell you I told you so.

The irony of it now, these same prophets of doom will be the ones with the loudest voice when Nigeria wins the cup, saying yet again, I knew we could do it. I believed in him, and so on.

I don't know about Ogunbote and Ikhana's style of play, the reason I spoke about the ones I know. John Obuh, Emmanuel Amunike and Aigbogun.

If any average coach can achieve anything with Enyimba, then you should not have suggested Ogunbote and Ikhana because winning the league with these clubs were not a feet. But Aigbogun achieved second position with Warri Wolves. I think this is a great feet.

However, let me remind you, Kadiri Ikhana failed to qualify the Nigeria U23 team for the Olympics tournament in 2004. According to you, Ikhana is a failure with the national team.
