It wasn't stated that the attack was without damage, but what if it was in the midst of being pounced on that the woman picked up the wood in self defense? The neighbor's account of events isn't exactly specific so we can't tell exactly what happened. She might also not have intended to kill him

But if it was out of anger at her maltreatment (she can still argue it wasn't premeditated tho) it will do her good to cool off her hot head in jail and see a psychologist for anger management therapy or something
