The FG (Buhari) isn't interested in ending farmer-herdsmen clashes.
What the fulanis want is a country to call their own, and a meaningless, disorganized country like Nigeria is the perfect place for a take over. Buhari spent over 4 years not trying to solve the problem, but to subtly drive out indigenous people from their lands so that the fulanis can occupy those places permanently.

The word has gone out to wandering fulanis across sub sahara Africa. They are all focused on the middle belt and southern Nigeria. This is a jihad. It wasn't a ruse when reports from varying quarters mentioned that most of the herdsman in Nigeria are foreigners from Mali, Niger, Sudan, Chad etc.

This is my exact stand. It is also not sustainable in the long run because, in the end, we may find ourselves in the same scenario as we are experiencing with IDP camp. Since the time of the Sadauna, they've been trying to change the ethnic makeup, dynamics and configuration of the middle-belt! The level of success they've had thus far in this regard is what is giving them the confidence they can now take on the south! This land grabbing is one of the major reasons the Fulani since the 60s are so desperate to grab and hold on to power!

A large percentage of Fulani that have grown roots in Nigeria are ok with things as they are and don't have designs on grabbing more territory in Nigeria...seeing it as a policy of a bygone era. But within them lays a primitive-minded and jihadist group with a conquering mindset. This group, which -since the passing of the likes of Uthman Dan Fodio and the Sadauna- was relegated to the the fringes of Fulani society and intelligentsia has now been reawakened and emboldened with the coming of Buhari! Buhari is one of them and has this same conquering, jihadist and medieval mindset needed to be a part of this fringe group of the Fulani ethnicity, and they are using him to make up ground lost since the passing of the Sadauna!

I believe the Fulani ethnicity throughout West Africa are prepared to settle for the existing status-quo pre Buhari/APC, but they have now been given ideas and encouraged to see Buharis' ascendancy to power as a opportunity for the Fulani to consolidate on and even expand their territory in Nigeria....finally fulfilling the dreams of their deceased leaders like Uthman Dan Fodio and the Sadauna to lord it over Nigeria and possibly dip the Koran into the Atlantic!
