TheGoodJoe: Which kind mumu growth is that. Zinchenko was a winger/Attacking Midfielder. He was practically useless for city in that position. It was when Fabian Delph got injured that made Pep to draft him to the position because he's a natural left footer. It has nothing to do with tactical genius. It happened to Ashley young at Man utd. The guy was becoming useless, because he couldn't bench the wingers we have any longer. He became useful in the club again after being drafted to a full back position, else he won't have stayed this long in Man utd. Point is that, if Nacho doesn't make himself useful at Leicester, he will just run out his contract and they'll let him go, or sell him when an offer comes. But this coming season will be what will decide that 1 Like |

Earthquake3: My comment April 17, 2017. It is not about use but mastering the system first. Let Nacho train one more year, gain the knowledge and then fight for playing time. He should know that if he masters it, he will excel beyond measures. TheGoodJoe: |

timay: Remember, there was Mendy, before Delph and then Zinchenko. Now in some games, Guardiola prefers to even start Zinchenko when Mendy and Delph are fit. That shows a lot how the young man has grown. In Ukraine, Zinchenko who you pointed above, was a winger plays as a Defensive midfielder. This is due to the young man's insane brilliance in understanding tactical play and movement. If you like, call it Mumu growth. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: John stones has always been a very Solid Midfielder before Man City bought him, that is why Man City had to spend over 50M to get him, I'm not sure it has anything to do with pep impact. Pep is a good coach but don't make it look as if the guys playing under him we're average or amateur players before they played for him. A lot of them were big money signing, that should tell you something |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by timay(m): 8:17am On Jul 03, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: Zinchenko just did what most hungry young players will do to impress, he took his chance well when the opportunity came. if you say pep developed him, he shouldn't be playing as a defender, but he should have improved his Midfield prowess Zinchenko came into the mix simply because of the unavailability of those two guys you mentioned in that position. He was a logical choice to play that position when Mendy and Delph were not available. It's just the same way you move a Defensive Midfielder to a Center Back position when most of your available defenders are injured. Rashford came into limelight in 2016 when Man utd had most of their wingers injured, and Luis Van gaal had no choice but to bring an academy player to fill in the position, Rashford grabbed the opportunity, and the rest is history. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:25am On Jul 03, 2019 |
timay: You are still missing the point. Zinchenko is now ahead of Delph. He is now better and Guardiola will pick him before Delph. In some games when Mendy was around, Guardiola picked Zinchenko. The only reason Zinchenko does not play Central or creative roles is because we are surplus there. With Silva, Foden, Gundogan, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, Gabby and Mahrez. Guardiola will not trust these to play as the left back but because of Zinchenko's brilliance, Guardiola can put him in such role. That young man is good. That is why he got a new contract. |

Lol.... But we must go with an option eventually naa be it local or foreign. Rohr has done well shaa in the aspect of luring some foreign borns. He got Aina and is using him now. It's true he always seem laid back in utilising the best young ones among our players. As for local coaches. They have their merits and demerits too. I just don't wanna dwell on it Biko. Just hope all turns out okay because I really wanna see this new golden generation become golden indeed. This Afcon 2019 and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (after Afcon U-23) will dictate the direction in which our new golden generation heads. Humility017: 1 Like |

wayodude: That is how they do, they make Guardiola look like a super human that develops every one. The man is a good coach no doubt, but attributing every player's development to him is now getting boring. The likes of Aguero, David Silva Fenandinho et al are already world class players, any good coach would have worked with them successfully. Instead of people to acknowledge the fact that these guys are potential league conquerers even before pep, they just find a way to make it look as if, it's pep that made them who they are |

timay: How many young player have done what zinchenko is doing ? Zinchenko is not highly rated or overhyped like those English kids this was a player that was bought from a unknown Russian club and he is already doing well at mancity at left back which is not his main position Rashford grabbed the opportunity and he has. Even doing well How many English overhyped kid can even do well to get recognized at city ? |

timay: I have said it a million times...all managers employed by Man City since 'Abu Dhabi ' took them over have won the league! Hell Guardiola's immediate predecessor won the league with the likes of Demichelis and Mangala! He didnt have to spend circa £300m (THREE HUNDRED MILLION POUNDS) on just the defence!! Most important tough is my earlier point. Having excellent players playing together in a team makes them better. It is not down to oh Guardiola has improved player X or Y. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by timay(m): 9:12am On Jul 03, 2019 |
andrew444: With the kind of Midfield and foward line that Man City has for now, it will be difficult for anyone to break into the mix, whether English or no English, hyped or not. Except your are exceptionally good. A team that someone like Gabriel Jesus starts from the bench, even Leroy sane last season. Even your beloved Zinchenko knows he stood no chance with that Midfield, that is why he had to grab the full back position with both hands when the opportunity came. So calm down. |

Is it the same sterling that will not score more than 6 or 7 goals under pellegrini and give you few assists But under pep guardiola sterling has scored almost 40 Epl goals in 2 seasons ,sterling has scored 36 Epl goals in 2 seasons and 21 assists Please compare it to pellegrini time ,I will repeat my self during pellegrini time sterling is an headless chicken ,he is yet to justify his huge transfer fees before pep came in |

Danielnino00: There's a level of ignorance I'll encounter I won't bother saying pim. No need. 2 things distinguished men's football from the women's game.. The technicality and the football wits. The men beat the women by a planet's distance. Women are so so far away, putting the men and women side by side will be like playing the men alongside kids.. The US women look good only because they're playing their fellow women. Add to the instances you gave, the US Women were beaten comfortably 5-2 by U15 boys o. The Australia Women team were once beaten 7-0 by college boys, non professional footballers. People are unbelievable. Really. 3 Likes 1 Share |
