https://nextedition.com.ng/2019/07/05/nafdac-intercepts-21-containers-of-spoilt-frozen-fish-in-lagos/ National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, on Thursday said it intercepted 21 containers of spoilt frozen fish at Tincan Island Port in Lagos. The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, therefore urged members of the public to be cautious and not to consume frozen fish that would be harmful to them. Recall that fish is among items banned for importation into the country by the Federal Government. The agency also said it seized four trucks of bottle water imported from China, adding that the water was concealed in hair attachment cartons. According Adeyeye, other items seized included imported fruit juices labelled in Chinese language. She added that the seizures were made recently at Seme border post in Lagos. The Director General assured that NAFDAC would continue to work with other security agencies to ensure that no harmful food items, illicit or unregistered drugs or water among others, found their way into the country. 5 Likes

News like this makes me ask if we Nigerians are ready to move our country forward. While we hold leadership accountable, citizens must live up to their responsibilities. To attempt to clear rotten fish into the market is a big shame. Imagine someone importing water into Nigeria ! I learnt that most of those imports were to launder illicit/drug money. 46 Likes 2 Shares |

Very stupid blogger Recall that fish is among items banned for importation into the country by the Federal Government. Fish is not a banned item for importation. The true position; Foreign exchange for Fish cannot be sourced from official window either from the CBN or the banks, importers must only pay for the imports using parallel market funds 12 Likes |

EddyNumerouno: It has not nothing to do with *stress of clearing containers* Either it’s already gone bad from country of supply, storage problem on the vessel transporting the containers or power problem at the port of discharge ( Tin Can ) Obviously it’s not a container problem as 21 reffers can’t go bad on one consignment 11 Likes |

vegafbs: Always deceiving public, how can 21 containers of fish spoil? Which country ship the fish without export quality check. Nigeria officers think they can deceive everyone. The real truth here is that the particular importer is not suppose to import the fish because there are already known big importers in government that believe the frozen fish business is reserve for them alone. Instead of you to import and make big profit, you should come to them and buy the one they import and make penult as profit, that way the NAFDAC and custom can guild the containers till you finish selling all. This is real problem that hinder average youth to grow economy higher, because they can use union to make you remain in one level by stealing money you suppose to go home with at end of your business in the name of paying union fees, then if you raise money somewhere else and import the goods they send signal to custom, nafdac or other agent to ceased your goods or container to make sure you remain slave in the business or you quite. This is reason many youth fall out of many business and become jobless. 15 Likes 1 Share |

obama30: You are very correct. To make a container of frozen fish get rotten in Nigeria port, they simply remove the electricity supply to the frozen fish container. So in this case, they probably had removed electricity supply to all the 21 containers and this can only have happened at the Nigerian port. 7 Likes |
