Dear Nairaland, South Africa's H2H against Nigeria recently says alot about their improvement. They have been playing better against us of late. Rohr mind you is always packing the bus against them hoping to hit on the counter.

Osimhen won't smell any match game this AFCON unless something happens to Ighalo. Our 3rd match was his opportunity. safarigirl: |

He should learn how to talk with humility but sound confident. He should go and check how Pep talks, confident in humility, makes his players hot in humility. Goke7: |

I don't know what is wrong with Pinnic. They always throw money around, spoiling and corrupting the minds of the boys with material gains. Why always money? Why not some solid word of encouragement and hyping since they are already getting $10k each by default? Goke7: 1 Like |

My player ratings for NGA against CAM Akpeyi: Looked Jittery as usual and his misjudgement of the ball in the air nearly caused us a goal in the first half. I still feel a better Keeper would have saved at least one of the two goals we conceded: 5/10 Troost-Ekong: For a Defender who has been quite solid in the past, Ekong has had an underwhelming tourney so far. His passing has been suspect, Had an average game today. 5/10 Omeruo: Didn't live up to expectations today. Could have done better against the cross that led to the first goal and was beaten in the air for the second. Made some blunders as well but looked quite solid in the second half.6/10 Awaziem: Was outpaced by the cameroonian wingers a lot of times but that doesn't jettison his nice cross which Musa chested to Ighalo for our second goal. 6/10 Aina; Was probably the most solid defender today but was out-muscled by a Jam-body Njie for the Second goal. Could also have done better with the shot he balloned way off target. 6/10 Etebo: Still don't understand why he takes our set-pieces but as usual displayed energy and worked hard to contain the rampaging Cameroonians in the middle. 7.5/10 Ndidi: Hard worker and tackler extraordinaire. Partnered well with Etebo in the middle and tried covering up at the flanks too. 7.5/10 Iwobi; Looked lost in the 1st half and seemed not to Jell with either Moses or Musa. But had a good game in the second half with a goal to cap it all.7/10 Musa: Really troubled the Cameroonian defense with his fast pace but lacked service in the first half. Nice assist in the second. 7.5/10 Moses Simon: Bereft of ideas in the final third and even the defensive prowess which he was equally known for was missing. 5/10 Ighalo: Proved critics wrong with his ball-holding, positioning and finishing. The Cameroonian defense had no answer for this Juggernaut. Deservedly the MOTM. 9/10 Chukwueze: Provided 3 clear cut chances and was the game changer for the team. Was double teamed each time he had the ball, a testament to his ability. We have a gem on our hands. 7/10 Onuachu: It can be argued that he cme relatively late but he lacked attacking intent the few times he got the ball and was out-muscled by the obviously more physical Cameroonian defenders. 4/10 Balogun: Came late but added a bit of stability to the defense. 4/10 8 Likes 1 Share |

jihday: Not just Arsene Wanger. I am sure there are a good number of sons of Africa accross the continent who are capable to do the job. But the only obstacle they will face is the fact that Africans discriminate against black. Africans would rather see a white man manage a national team than a fellow black. |

Goke7: Odunayaw: Maybe the extra $10k each is from his pocket because he must account for how he intend raising the extra $230k since this wasn't included in the monies supplied by the FG. We all know it's the FG that's paying their bonuses, so why does he want to get the extra $230k from except it was President Buhari that told him to promise them such. |

Thank God for the win cos this match really make me fear... Frankly speaking, the team has a lot of things to work on. They need to learn how to cross the ball, deliver set pieces, etc., seemed our players weren't comfortable with the ball; I sensed fear; a couple of times, they just ballooned the ball into they air, inviting more pressure. I was not impressed with Onuachu, I don't know whether he's just been panicky, but l'll prefer that Osimhen come in for Ighalo, as for Moses Simon, he didn't have a particularly great game today, but I don't see how he's a bad player. Very good players, sometimes, do have bad games, therefore, those who do well today may have average games tomorrow, but let's try never to rubbish their effort easily. The wingers, though, need to be better, the midfield too, so that the defence would be more confident. Finally, some people are too negative here, they complain about any and everything. I fail to see how this could be of benefit to the team. These players are human; they deserve to be appreciated sometimes, same as the coaching crew. 3 Likes |
