Morocco 3 clean sheets + unbeaten - Benin shocked them.

Cameroon 3 clean sheets + unbeaten - Nigeria disgraced them.

Egypt 3 clean sheets + unbeaten - South Africa chopped them.

AFCON of Surprises.

What’s the atmosphere like in the streets of Mzansi tonight?
weirdly enough it's a bit subdued. I heard a bit of noise when the goal was scored but it quickly died down

But Onuachu surprised me oo
Baba can not coordinate himself after his intro
Osimhen just rotting away
Rohr should manage this team properly
Simon Moses is good oo but he doesn't draw opposition the way young Chuks does. If I be coach that guy will be my lethal weapon.
Musa...... Well I'm shocked sha fluffed goal scoring chances in this tournament. He could easily have gotten 2 goals in this tournament so far.

The foul that led to the first goal was really a penalty. Musa was fouled in the box. Well VAR will be in the next round.

If we play fast game with SA, we go suffer, we need to slow them and rush them in their defence. Bonfere script in afcon 2000 is a good guide.

Hear me and hear me well.... Nigeria will beat South Africa. No much talk. That 2-0 loss in Uyo will be avenged. Watch the team enter beast mode.

zoboizee:
Dear Nairaland, South Africa's H2H against Nigeria recently says alot about their improvement. They have been playing better against us of late. Rohr mind you is always packing the bus against them hoping to hit on the counter.

Since dey re winning there matches dey hv nothing learn. Oga Guardiola!
CoolJulian:
Thank God for the win cos this match really make me fear...

Frankly speaking, the team has a lot of things to work on. They need to learn how to cross the ball, deliver set pieces, etc., seemed our players weren't comfortable with the ball; I sensed fear; a couple of times, they just ballooned the ball into they air, inviting more pressure. I was not impressed with Onuachu, I don't know whether he's just been panicky, but l'll prefer that Osimhen come in for Ighalo, as for Moses Simon, he didn't have a particularly great game today, but I don't see how he's a bad player; very good players, sometimes, do have bad games, therefore, those who do well today may have average games tomorrow, but let's try never to rubbish their effort easily, the wingers, though, need to be better, the midfield too, so that the defence would be more confident.

Finally, some people are too negative here, they complain about any and everything. I fail to see how this could be of benefit to the team. These players are human; they deserve to be appreciated sometimes, same as the coaching crew.

Rohr's starting XI was good today but it is time to bench Simon Moses.

Simon's contributions have been key to our getting this far so far but if we are to go much farther, he must make way for the whirlwind and lightening-quick Chukwueze.

We are at a stage where we need our wingers to be assertive, ultra creative, super daring and keenly dynamic in the final third and not having our them more concerned with Defensive duties more than offensive plays.

Simon is good but he does not offer us that much more penetrating offensive presence like Chukwueze.
Just as Chukwueze also does not offer too much workrate defensively than Simon. But with respect to what we want this team to achieve, Chukwueze should start ahead of Simon.

It is unfortunate Kalu is not at his best as he is a beast both offensively and defensively. He is a genuine threat and offers great offensive presence when in form and very fit and also provies the workrate to play defensive cover.

But right now, it is between Simon and Chukwueze and We must go with Chukwueze. Enough of the conservative bull crap.

We saw the vital game changing display of the Lad from Villarreal CF in a crucial game.

Unleash Chuks!! Unleash the Beast!!!

I just closed from extra mural class in SS3 on my way home to watch the game (around my secondary school staff quarters) when I heard shout of first goal.

Before then, SA had a good tournament in 96 and 98 when Nigeria did not feature and there was a debate on whether they would have gone that far if Nigeria featured and they began to see themselves as Nigeria's rivals.

We returned in 2000 and we met in QF (or was it semi sef?) and that game settled the matter.

Admittedly, SA had very good players in that generation.

Cameroun is Nigeria's traditional rival although Ghana also see themselves as Nigeria's rival. We don't pay attention to them like we do to Cameroun.

Ghanaians take games against Nigeria personal. Even friendlies. See the way Thomas Partey was playing in that game between ATletico Madrid and Nigeria's Super Eagles B. Every game against Nigeria is personal to Ghanaians.

Simon will fare well there. It's not like they will be challenging for headers in the wings.
By the way, Awaziem was okay today
komekn:

You want to play that Isikeun (dwarf) as RB it will.not work he doe's not even have composure.

The other thing l am bewildered about is hoe is it that our Wingers and wing backs can not cross ball.

Meanwhile WOW S.Africa have just scored
