There is no need for soul searching, we just need to be sincere...you know as much as everyone knows that all religions claim exclusivity, meaning all religious adherent believe they uphold the truth and all other non-adherents are wrong. This mutual exclusivity in religion makes it dangerous to bring anything religious into a school that is meant to be secular...You will be looking for trouble, if you force your children to put on a religious garb in a secular school because you will lack moral standing to debar the children of adherents of other religion from putting on their religious garb as well...I can imagine how uncomfortable a parent will be learning that his or her children are in the same class with pagan practitioners who put all manner of chalk decoration on their face, wear amulets and charmed rings as part of their uniform...I am very sure the very same Muslim parents will shout to the high heavens how wrong it is to allow that...this is the position of the school administration and I think it is wise.

Whether you like it or not, Nigeria is a secular state and not an Islamic state and hence there must be the separation of religion and state...if you must practice religion, practice it in your private domain and do not hurt the sensibilities of the adherents of other religions otherwise we risk a religious war which will consume us all...

My take on this is that rules are rules and until that is changed, everyone should pls abide for peace. There's no need testing waters here. If no other form of dressing is allowed as I read in the rules on school uniform posted somewhere earlier, then the parents should abide or enroll their wards in other schools where such is allowed.
The Dr pays his 'dues' just like any other person there and none is trying to enforce his/her own wish over others. The claim of paying dues holds no water whatsoever.
Finally, I don't think it's right using these innocent children as pawns in our religious machinations. They learn to disobey rules and may end up being social misfits layer in life.
