its high time i started giving back to the street that made me as i benefitted a lot from this platform. if you have any question or doubts about studying and living Germany. feel free to query my database of experience/knowledge pro bonosmiley. I am sparingly available here as this is over 2 years i last visited this platform so therefore or therefore so u can mail me if its urgent. I am also keen to give updates about the current state of IT/Programming/Computing career and courses in general.

maximum respect to some of my Bosses @justwise, @Dolpaz, etc for keeping this forum alive u guys helped to rock my boat that year.

if you are struggling with programming and/or IT in general, my advice is don't give up.

one love! it can only get better for us.

Thanks for coming back to enlighten us. Your posts have been very very helpful.

Most times IT fields are mentioned as per German runs, what I see often talked about are usually about coding/programming/application developments aspects of IT.

Kindly advise on IT scenarios that are non-programming e.g. Telecommunications, IT Tech/Network Support, Network Admin/Operations, Security and Enterprise Architecture/Designs. How are the opportunities both for part-time student jobs and post-study professional full-time job in these other IT areas?

Nice revelation up there, bro.

I am wondering, is the required BA amount fixed?
Just in case, someone did a miscalculation and funded more than necessary, can the whole sum be transferred to the BA account? Then, possibly, the BA bank in Germany would disburse the monthly breakdown (which will be higher in this case) to the person.

From what I have been reading, its seems you can withdraw your excess euro from Nigerian banks. So, i guess I have been dealing with a wrong bank then.

However, if you send more than the needed amount to your German BA, they will send the excess back to you with your first withdrawal in Germany (I think the first month).

All the money apart from the charges are yours, you will definitely get it back.

Cheers!

Hello, my question about deggendorf.
there is no way to defer/delay the admission at deggendorf university? because visa for my country would take over 2 months and my appointment in the visa department is on 2nd september. do you think if I mailed the international office they might help to delay my admission?

Gurus and 'bankers' in the house, please is this reasonable, advisable and possible?

As Euroes seem to be on the rise at the moment, and tend to be even more expensive around August (from what I've gathered so far), and Dollar on the other hand is steady ATM, Is it possible to fund one's dorm account in dollars and have the bank transfer (or however it is possible) to Fintiba in Euros?

Thank you!

Yes, this is very possible. You can always fund your dollar account and tell the bank to transfer the equivalent Euro amount, BUT believe me its not a wise thing to do.

Banks will first convert Dollar to Euro (They will cheat you), then they will transfer (Take charges.)

So, the best option is still to buy Euro and send.

Cheers!

You know how Nigerians reason, everyone would want to grab opportunity even when they are not prepared for it. The fault is with the embassy, they should’ve done the platform in such a way that you cannot book without admission and BA/SL on ground
see your life so people won't be able to book without BA or SL so you mean the embassy that allows interview without BA or SL are not ok abi naija I hail if you follow this your method 80% of people that have gone for interview this summer won't have date
But anyway na your opinion no problem

Please for people whose schools refuse to give English letters addressed to “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN” can the letter be addressed to uniassist directly since I would be doing multiple applications through them.

My people My people I had my interview on 2 July, 2019. Forgive my summarized transcript.

I got to the embassy around 5.30am. Later others arrived. I met two guys in queue and the security guys.
They checked appointment letters and stamped on it around 6.30. Paulinus arrived around 7am and started calling us in. And as he called, I arranged my documents. Original and then photocopy, photocopy. After that was the security check before proceeding to the interview area
Waited for some time before I was called into counter 2.
VO went thro my documents, gave me forms to sign and asked me basic questions like

Have you blocked ??
Mention few course title for your last year in school ?
What is the name of your skul?
Master or bachelors?
What is the name of ur course?
What’s the course all about ??
What is the topic of your undergraduates thesis?
Title of ur bachelor's degree program?
Why Germany?
Why not Nigeria?
Why not UK, US, Canada or any English speaking countries?
Why this course?
What do you intend to do after your program? No story pls
What do you know about Germany?
What do you know about the German economy?
Mention other countries that speak German ?
Do you have friends or relative in Germany?

Great information bro, would use as reference.

1. What’s your advise on Digital Engineering for masters in DE?
2. Can I get a software job in python through self learning even though my current masters is in materials science and simulation?
3. Are they other IT related masters courses I can do with a bachelors in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering as I have thoughts of switching fields but it’s been difficult to find IT courses without bachelors in IT.
Thank you.

It is possible, the bank will apply a USD/ Euro cross rate. You need to confirm the rate so you know the exact dollars. Also you can request that the transfer charges be deducted from your naira account.

Okay, thanks.

Happy Sunday guys!

For the FAM: I got across to a couple of folks at Bayreuth, and these are what they have to say...

###

"Hello,

On getting a job, I am sure you will find one. But if you are thinking of a Research Assistant job, that will depend on your supervisor if he/she wants to hire you. For the most part, students on an MA program usually have jobs outside the university. The jobs are there, and foreign students are not barred from working.

The city of Bayreuth is small, compared to big cities like Berlin, Dortmund, Munich, etc. But it is peaceful and the people are receptive to strangers (for those who are law-abiding). So far, I have not had any cases of harassment from anyone or the Police. The standard of living in the city is also ok, house rent is also cheaper compared to bigger cities. You can acculturate better depending on your own social life.

Unlike PhD candidates who are registered for automatic apartment, getting accommodation for MA students can be hard at first. Yet, with time (at least between 1-4weeks), you will surely get it depending on your budget.

The other information I could give you is to connect with other Nigerians in the city on MA programs. They are more likely to guide you better on getting accommodation and Jobs in the city, because they went through these experiences.

###

On your accommodation, if you have registered with the studentenwerk, then no problem. That is the first step. You are going to get accommodation from them, although it might not be easy to get it on time depending on other factors. If your budget is around 180-240Eur for the apartment, it is ok. You will find one in that range (mind you, be ready for other expenses like water, electricity and internet bills. Depending on what you consumed per month, and the fee you will pay for the apartment, you should not be paying more than 230 in the 'cheapest' flat for students. Again, this amount is subject to your monthly consumption).

With regards to the job, as I said earlier, you will get it...

Well, I don't follow the discussion on Nairaland. My advice to you is to have an open mind when you arrived in Germany. Even though some of the negative things being said about the country are true, they can also be misleading.

###

Bayreuth is a small but nice city. Living standard is cheaper compared to big cities like Munich..."

###

Good luck, everyone!
please what about kisses I got admitted in university of kassel. MA. Thanks
