Hello kife...pls for the flagpole type of application for sowp,do i need to apply first online wen i get to canada, and then go to the border?or i can just go to the border? Asking for my hubby as he would be entering canada on a visiting visa.
kife:

Applications can be:

Online
In paper
In person (at a land border),just tell the CBP officers you want to do a flagpole

With all your documents, you should get it in a few mins.

Jeandji:
Hello,

I want to know what kind of visa I need to apply for my daughter while my wife apply for SOWP. She is just 7 months old.

2) my Study permit expires by nov 2019. I intend renewing it before then. Can they go ahead apply? Or do I need to renew it first before they apply?

3) what route is better and faster this days? Paper or online?

I look forward to your help!

Thank you
Visit visa for your 7 months baby
I don't know much about question 2 cos I've not renewed my study permit before
Both have almost the same average processing time. I think speed is independent of application route. I prefer paper though because of the recent delay in returning passport after its submitted upon request.
Whatever route you choose, pray about it!

Congrats @schonebaby. I have a few questions. When u say budget, did you give a breakdown of what ur expenses would be?. 2. How exactly did u appeal.to the VO's compassion in your letter. 3. For finances , did you state that you were following the requirements of having 10k for ur self and 4k for your spouse, etc in your LOE and how much more than the requirement for one year did u have 4. Did u also refer to your funding as part of funds available for u? 5. Can you share your LOE, with personal details removed of course. Thanks

You can either send an email to the visa office that handled your application to rectify the issue or travel with it and then apply for extension inside Canada. Someone had this problem sometimes ago. Check out this link

1 No, I didn't breakdown my budget. I just worked with the CIC requirement ---> Tuition +10,000 Cad for and 7000 Cad for 2 accompanying dependants and I showed that our funds available were enough to meet (+exceed) this requirement.
Let me quote a part of my SOP under subtopic funding and budget:

Funds Available
Presently my Ph.D. study is funded by the University for four years and the amount payable for the year 2019-2020 is 25,900 CAD. Ultimately, 11,153 CAD is available for my living expenses after full tuition has been deducted (Admission letter, Funding letter and Tuition fee is enclosed). In addition to this, for my family , I have the sum of two million naira in my account- a gift from my mother to me from her matured fixed deposit account, as a contribution to our settling down in Canada (My statement of account is attached showing the transfer after maturation, the fixed deposit certificate is also enclosed). My husband also has the sum of one million, two hundred and twelve thousand naira in his personal Access savings account.
Summary of funds in total:
Me (fund for living expenses from Queen’s): 11,153 CAD
Fund for my family: 3 million naira (11, 490 CAD)
We believe the funds we have will be very sufficient to tide us over till when my husband gets a job. I am most certain that my family joining me in Canada will neither cause me nor them to be financially destitute and rely on the State for our daily needs.

2 I made my letter as emotional as I could. Let me quote a part to highlight this (some part are quite personal, so I won't include in quote):
"I will be going for a 4 year doctoral program and I have so many exciting plans to execute when I return and get into academia here in Nigeria. In the meanwhile, I will be away in Canada for many years and I would love to walk that journey with my family. I have travelled to for a research trip before and I endured the absence of my husband because I knew that it would be over in three months. Four years, however, is a very long time. I can’t imagine being away from my husband and daughter for such a long period of time. I shudder to think of leaving my daughter behind (she will be just 1 year and 6 months when I resume). As she’s still very young, and I will love for her to come with us because there will be no one to take care of her when I leave. My mother, my only living parent is elderly and still in active service.
You will agree with me that every child needs the love of her ‘mummy and daddy ’when growing up. There is a raw pain in the heart of mothers when they cannot be with their child(ren) for years. In order to avoid this heartache while I make use of this opportunity that all my hard work and rigorous studies have prepared me for, my husband and I have given this situation great thought and therefore, have decided that he comes to join me, along with our daughter, for the period of my study duration. I therefore appeal to you sirs and mas, to make it possible for my family and I to be together for my study duration. Having my husband and daughter here will not only build our marriage, but also motivate my performance in my research study, and boost my emotional health. I am very confident my husband is going to support our daughter and I emotionally, physically and financially if given a work permit."
3 Yes I did. I stressed on this...
4) Yes I talked about my funding as much as I could. I also talked extensively about my husband's work achievement.

Also, I introduced myself in the beginning chapter. I talked about my educational history, awards and achievement. My research work across several geozones in the country. My internship and all that. I also briefly talked about my research plan for my study. ( This was just to establish a strong purpose of visit* )

I ended with this, bolded :
"Dear respected sir/ madam, I really want you to know that the decision to grant my husband and daughter visas for the duration of my study will tremendously impact on my studies, my academic pursuit, my emotional health and our quality of life as a family. It will also impact on the investment that the government and people of Canada are making on me as a doctoral student in their country. I therefore sincerely seek your favourable consideration for us to continue our journey in Canada while I study."

Hope this helps

@Schonebaby thanks for the selfless service to this thread.
Although I am yet to apply for my TRV even though am to resume in fall (most likely defer to January) I would like to go with my family.

The plan is to apply first then apply for my wife n 3 kids.
My question is in regards to your initial SOP,
1. Did you use your child n hubby as home ties
2. If you did 1 above how did you then justify applying for your family almost immediately. As one would assume you never wanted to go with them.

Thanks

Pls. Which option did you pick. If first. What and what did they ask you at the point of entry.

hello everyone,
so I got London's reply to my mail today saying their records indicate that an incorrect validity date has been input on my worker visa counterfoil and that they suggest two options;
1. to use the present valid visa to Canada and apply for extension (inserted the link) or

2. re-submit my passport to Lagos vfs for a reissuance valid till 2020 (they will not cancel the present visa but will send new passport request letter till i reply the mail with my choice)

Pls advise....

P.S. I have booked my ticket for 2nd week next month though daughter's passport is still not ready for collection but her profile has been update and her validity date is till 2020

Yes, I did not apply with them. I hope you know that the embassy respects your decision; whether you apply first and secure your visa , go there and invite them, or you apply together
In my case, I got my trv very early, and I decided to apply for then immediately so that, in case the processing took long, I won't feel it that much.
For example, many people applied June last year and got approved December.
However, in my SOP, because I knew I was going to apply immediately, I did not state that I won't go with them. I was careful with my choice of words.
I just stated that I am married and have a daughter and that I am not applying with my family for now.
Be diplomatic. You don't have to state that you're not going with them. Just say you'rr not applying with them for now (which is true). Simple. Your marital status already implies a solid hometie.
Anyway, I don't think they dig up your Sop when they review your family's application. But, just to be safe and true...

Good evening nairalanders! I don't know know the right section to post this hence my reason for posting it here and I also believe irrespective of where I drop my questions, the good people of Canada travel section will help in providing solutions.

My question goes as thus! Having tried every means of going to Canada, then one day while surfing the net, I came about a certain agency based in Canada that claims to recruit job seekers from anywhere in the world based on their bio. I reluctantly messaged them but didn't get a reply.

Then all of a sudden, after months in which I myself already forgotten about them. I got a mail from them which assessed my ability and afterwards, I got a corresponding mail of them claiming to sponsor my air fair and work permit totalling 80% while I will only spend 20% for my documents processing.

My question now is can this be real or a form of scam as I only know a potential employer will only send a job employment letter while the job seeker continues the rest in Nigeria. Thank you all..

Well, I can't say whether it is real or not (even though it seems too juicy to be true when you are not recruited as an expatriate with multinational company experience). I also don't understand any other document processing needed if they will be paying for your permit. Anyway, whatever the case, don't send any money to them, if there will be any processing, they should tell you and you do it yourself (procedures will be there on Canadian official site, so you don't even pay into a scam account, lol). Let them even pay for the document processing while you take care of the airfare yourself. Afterall, you can verify if the permit is genuine online before even travelling. Please watch out!

It's a scam! Na their way. If you doubt it, ask them to pay the processing fees while you book your flight. At least you can confirm the authenticity of the travel documents they will give you from IRCC.

Hi,
I was able to link my account immediately.
To link Open work permit;
A) Select Temporary Residence
b) Select International experience Canada not Work permit please!
Enter your details exactly as you filled in form.
You should find your application

Lemme know if you were able to

Hello Schonebaby,
I was able to link my spouse's application (SOWP) to mine.
Do I also link the children's application to mine as I couldn't do that now or how do I monitor the progress of their application too?

Thank you.
