Wetin we no go hear again inside Africa.

I'm not surprised. A country that celebrates local production of pencil in an age of technological advancement.

What happened to using these phones for research and study in ICT.

It's just paining this is coming from a citadel of higher learning.

Nonsense

We can not produce, yet we are destroying!

This is a Polytechnic having engineering department which is meant to train students on the production and repair of these devices.
Why can’t they keep them in their laboratories or workshops for the electrical electronic engineering students to work with, understand the principles and bring up ideas on how to manufacture one.

Op please mind what you post. That happened in the polytechnic Ibadan and not UI.

We are civilised humans here and don't cheat in exams. Biko

Tolexander:
which one are we to believe now, Ibadan Polytechnic or UI?

Moreover, isn’t it ironical seeing The Polytechnic Ibadan students claiming to be more civilized than the Premier University students
Did you read what I wrote or you have comprehension issues?

I stated clearly that it happened in poly and not UI. I'm a Uite btw

If the phones were used for exam malpractice, surely they're destroying the evidence which should be used against the student when they face the disciplinary committee.

Even at that, it's still very very wrong to destroy those phones.

then the phones should have been returned to the owners. I don't see the need for the school authority to destroy those phones.

I agree. But what's done is done. Nigeria is a country where people like taking laws into their hands.

This is so barbaric and reeks of retrogression. What stops the school from using the phones as research apparatus and improve on the IT Research and Development of the school, why burn confiscated items of students just because they went against the rule?

the school should have been a bit more innovative in approach to this situation rather than take this ignoble path.

I see these phones have masking tapes on them probably with the ID of the owners written on them. Why didn't they just return them? Waste of money

A fine should have been placed on each phone either big or small phones. and the fine should be half the price of the phones. and some punishment like carrover and etc not dis foolish way of showing correctiveness

I cannot go to a school that have this kind of mentality.. I'm not even talking about the revenue that could have been generated from the sales of these items, and the token it would contribute to the school if properly used, but they burnt these phones and emitted toxic substance into the atmosphere. School that has not heard of global warming, that one na school
