The clown just lost my respect. I hope they get disgraced. This just made me angry. Chisom Mbonu is one of the most professional journalists in naija and I smell an undertone of sexism in the coach's response.

That was poor journalism, thisday didn't report it as it happened. The man saw what Chisom my crush wanted to do, he adjusted asking Chisom to stop piling pressure on him

Club for club, they are slightly ahead of Nigeria.

I think any independent (say European) follower of football will give this game to Algeria.

Mahrez's stature in world football is enough reason for bookmakers to give this game to them.

How can any european give it to algeria? what have they won? what are their rankings? Did they play at the world cup?

They might give it to algeria because of their white skin ,but if they are to go by a better footballing nation, sorry they cant give it to algeria

What is mahrez status in the world football? was his status bigger than lewandowski status when europeans was tipping senegal to beat poland in the world cup?

That doesn't sound right. Why would Algerian journalists start clapping because of that? North African are whinny cheaters when it comes to football and we all saw their player punch Zaha in the mouth and act like the victim.

It was during the world cup, I got to know many polish players.

Most people all over the world dont know players from other Nations unless they are their regular opponents or club players. Infact, in the Epl, outside the top 6, u can hardly tell a player's country without using Google, unless u are already conversant with names as they relate to countries, the popular/unique ones. Can elyte89 my man name USMNT players?

So it isnt just an African thing, it is global stuff though we can argue that the more prominent ones like Spain, Germany, Dutch, Portugal etc are kinda exceptions.

Lol...u got me dere,u made a gud point dere

Mr man, I said casual..... not avid football players

Okay, let's call derdyck, an average male polish citizen and a casual football fan with wife and children who only watches football with friends and ask him to:
Name 10 English internationals
Name 10 Nigerian internationals
From which country will he name more?

He is not English, but he will name more English players than Nigerian players....why is that?

Who mentioned anything about passionate Nigerian supporters? Or packed viewing centres?

Wonders never ended

And I maintain that an average Nigerian fan knows more than an average Polish fan. Simple fact

Most of the pundits have reaciat bias written all over their predictions. Man for man, we have a better team. Mahrez isn't even a starter for Man city. And he isn't world class

So it's game day I'm quietly confident I have no doubt that with the right formation we will beat them even though betting pundits have the algerians odd favourite to win but I think the players can get the job done.

The algerians are coming to the game with a lot of tension angst and Vengeance on their mind which I think might play into our hands if we stay calm.

I will stick out my neck and predict 3- 1 in favour of Nigeria let's back them with all all support.

Let's go super Eagles!

This is what the man said;

''I am not really sure that
this is the place to talk about this. If you
try to put pressure on us, it is not the right
way. Try to win in another way, not this
way.
''There is a referee for that, there is VAR
for that, it is not your job to talk about
these things.''

I dont think there is anything wrong with that. Any coach would have given such response, u don't expect him to slam his player before the press, no sane coach does that. Chisom knew what she was up to before asking him that question, she wanted to suppress the man by putting him under pressure and drawing the attention of CAF in case it happens against Nigeria. She succeeded, yes buh the man did what he had to do as a professional. Nothing like sexism here

How can random football follower know ighalo and chuks bros na wa for you ooo, like say dem dey play for big club

Of course.....which means when ever a country with more popular players meets another with less in a tournament...casual fans, pundits and bookmakers often give it to the country with more popular players, not accounting for other factors like team spirit or drive which may help the smaller football country to win....

A random person in Algiers won't know chuks or ighalo because they aren't popular there...boutabout must have looked at Nigeria and may have concluded based on the 'popularity' of our players, that Nigeria doesn't have game changers or match winners

Let's not go too far...when we played Madagascar we looked at the team to know what they were all about...many including me assumed that Madagascar couldn't do anything to Nigeria... We didn't know them at all and many of us thought it may be a routine 1 or 2 nil win

Look at how that turned out

Have you lived there?

Do you go from house to house in Warsaw...interviewing every family and asking whether they follow football or not?

Your insistence is vague....you can't say for sure whether an average Nigerian fan knows football more than an average polish fan....

But let's assume Nigerians actually know football more than polish fans....Nigeria is about to play a match with England in the world cup

We call random citizens from us Venezuela Honduras north Korea Canada Sweden...and we ask them to name players from england or Nigeria off hand....from which country will they name more? What ever your answer is...will it affect the interviewed person's opinion whether england will win or Nigeria will win?

If it does or doesn't, give yourself a huge round of applause

Turkish giants Besiktas have moved in to
improve the two million Euros offered by Dutch
club Heerenveen for Chidera Ejike

Heerenveen have made a firm offer of 2
million Euros for the Valerenga forward and
his representatives are due in Holland to
finalise the transfer.

The Dutch club have proposed a four-year deal
for Ejike. However, it has been further learnt that
Besiktas among several other interested clubs
may see the player’s transfer to Holland fall
through as they hope to improve on the offer
by Heerenveen.

“It’s a very fluid situation as several other
clubs including Besiktas are ready to improve
on the Heerenveen offer for the player,” a
representative of the player said.

Former Nigeria U17 star Ejike, 21, has been
consistent in Norway and this season he has
netted five goals and provided several assists
for his club.
Last season, he came close to joining top
Belgian side Club Brugge.

Lol...we are saying the same thing

He mentioned exceptions in his quote, Spanish dutch English Germans Brazil etc....players from these countries are known universally in football spheres....I used examples of Spain england and Germany...obviously I didn't use Finland or republic of Ireland or others...they are not as popular

Oya let's call a random villager from india and ask him who he knows between neymar and sadio mane...he will most likely say neymar...whether neymar is better than mane is up to you to decide...but this Indian might assume neymar is better than mane because he is more popular....and this is what leads other people to assume a country will beat another country in a tournament..

Average random people all over the world concluded Germany will beat south Korea in world cup....
Ah ozil ah kroos...ah muller....he go kill them....ah Phillip lahm was here...them get players die

They came to south korea and could only think of son being min and ki sun yeung...wetin dem sabi? Who dem epp?

Pick 10 random football followers on the streets of Paris or Brussels or Dubai and ask whether they know Ighalo or Chuks.

At least 7 will say they dont know either of them.

But they will know JJay, Okocha, Taribo, Yobo, Ikpeba, Kanu, Yekini, etc

When we say to people that African football has not progressed the way it should have people get all defensive, this is reflection of that. Considering our players and where they play today.

Obviously because I don't care who does

My point exactly....in case you got lost...was that some countries have more popular players than others....this is what makes others to believe that if a heavyweight meets a lesser country...the heavyweight will win most of the time

Whether the popular players are actually better than those from lesser countries....for example whether Jesse lingard is better than onyekuru, is anybody's guess...but many casuals will go with lingard to perform on the day ahead of onyekuru, because they know who lingard is and where he plays...as opposed to onyekuru

It is why we were labelled favourites against Madagascar....we had better players who are more popular

I said that I'm guessing that's what influenced boutabout to say what he said...because he knows his own players and doesn't really know ours

Whether Algerians oo or polish people know football more isn't really my concern...I'm only trying to establish a theory as to why boutabout feels confident of his nations chances due to the fact that according to him...Nigeria does not have 'big name' players
