The re-election of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria's president may not have come as much of a surprise to many Nigerians, but there were some powerful men who made sure that the reelection bid was successful. As President Buhari got reelected, these 10 politicians played significant roles in their corner. Here are the 10 men who stood firm with President Muhammadu Buhari during the electioneering season. 1. Bola Tinubu The Jagaban Borgu has been one of President Buhari's strongest ally since 2015 and 2019 Elections wasn't left out as Dr. Bola Tinubu and his south west men strongly threw their weight behind Mr. President Most of the electioneering campaigns in South Western part of the country were sponsored by APC National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his foot-soliders. 2. Adams Oshiomhole Former Governor of Edo State and Current National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole played a significant role in the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari, Oshiomhole was a bare-knuckled, hands-on campaigner whose time as labour leader still endears him to the grassroots. Despite the disunity of the party after the Gubernatorial and legislative party primaries, Comrade Oshiomhole still didn't allow that support him from campaigning in all 36states of the federation. 3. Rotimi Amaechi He could lay down his life for Buhari if it came to that. A good talker who packs a punch and then some, Transport minister Amaechi never shies away from picking fights for the cause. He has taken on everyone as he defends the government he serves in—from the PDP, to Rivers Governor Wike, to anyone who says the APC has performed poorly since it assumed the reins at the center. He’s also not afraid to fight dirty, giving as good as he gets. 4. Nasir Elrufai Kaduna Governor Elrufai told whoever cared to listen that all the APC Governors will back Buhari’s re-election bid. Elrufai also told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar not to waste his time and money because Buhari will be unbeatable in 2019. And he says it with chutzpah, with pride and with reckless abandon. Elrufai talks a good game and could be brutally honest, perhaps a bit too much for his own good. Call him Buhari’s adopted son and you’d be darn right. 5. Abubakar Malami Currently the Attorney General of the Federation and Former Legal Adviser to President Buhari's party, Congress for Progressive Change. Abubakar Malami's role in the last election was one of the strongest reason why President Muhammadu Buhari came back, he stood firmly with Mr. President to stop any legal orders that would've hindered President Buhari's reelection bid. 6. Rochas Okorocha The former Governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha is a deft political player with the nous of a veteran. He’s pivoted to the APC for a while now and has been singing the praises of Buhari. He may just be the man who sells the APC to a Southeast region where it is most derided. Rochas Okorocha was the convener of South East For Buhari and other initiatives that aided President Buhari's increased votes in the South East Region. 7. Babatunde Fashola Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola's commitment and contribution to President Buhari's 2019 campaign was tremendously high. Apart from being the Director of Election Planning and Monitoring for President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign, the Former Minister led several campaign groups for Mr. President especially in the South Western Region. 8. Mallam Adamu Adamu Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Education Minister is one of the ministers who stood firmly with President Buhari during the "Next Level Electioneering Season" The Bauchi State born politician was a columnist before he joined the cabinet and has been a close associate of the President right from the Petroleum Task Fund, PTF, days when President Buhari was chairman of the Fund didn't abandon his friend, President Buhari. Mallam Adamu Adamu also served as the secretary of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Council. 9. Col. Hammed Ali The Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Hammed Ali Was one silent Supporter President Buhari had. Hammed Ali was the national leader of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), he used the organization to sponsor countless Voters Education Campaign and Door to Door Campaign for Mr. President. 10. Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo The Anambra Born APC Chieftain, High. Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo's role remains significant. He has been a supporter of President Buhari since his days in CPC, High. Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo was one of the brain behind the biggest support group for Mr. President, Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria (GOGAN), during the Electioneering season, his other support group, G23 For President Buhari focused primarily in the South East Region and sponsored thousands of rallies, campaigns in the region. He believed that re-electing President Buhari is critical to moving the country to the next level of infrastructural and economic development. Rubbish. These ones that can't take themselves an inch? I laugh in fulani. In as much as i prefer buhari over atiku (because of his past record with obasanjo) and i'm glad he won buh let's not decieve ourselves that anyone took him anywhere, let's just thank God that the northernes do not love atiku that much. The vote from the south is totally divided so none of those miscreants mention up there did something spetacular. And wether the norths had a leader or not, they were still going to vote buhari over atiku cuz he really isn't embraced among them. So save yourself the stress of compiling list of loosers that did absolutely nothing buh basking in the glory of the north. Even Tinubu had little influence. Nonsense and Atiku. 10 Likes |
