The Untold Story of Emmanuel Amuneke’s ‘Mysterious Football Tactics’ [Won FIFA U17 World Cup In Chile 2015]

By the round of 16 matches, it became obvious to the Technical Study Group (TSG) that Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will eventually win FIFA U17 World Cup trophy again in Chile. Thanks to Emmanuel Amuneke that tutored the boys so well in tactical discipline. He made it seem so easy, as the Nigerian team outright outshine their opponents with superior tactical approach; something that looked fresh out-of-box.

Not even TSG, with their years of experience, could decipher what pattern Amuneke was using. It was incredible how the Nigerian youngsters switched positions at ease. You always found five players crowding the midfield; with play-maker Kelechi Nwakali playing deep, more like a defensive midfielder. But at intervals, he quickly switched into the attacking role as the point-man Victor Osimhen drift away to the wings dragging along the opponent defenders.

https://cheeronnigeria..com/2015/11/the-untold-story-of-emmanuel-amunekes.html?m=1

Why didn't he qualify the same U20 players with this tactic?

Be rest assured that many unknown players will find their way into the National team with Amunike and co as the coach.

On Rohr,I support you. Sacking the man might be fatal. It has been long since we have a team as organized as this. Instead of sacking him and rebuilding against., why not complement his shortcomings

There is nothing to build on. It is not as if the team has a well defined playing pattern that another coach can build on.
The only thing that Rohr brought to this team that should be maintained is the pool of talents, even that one self is due to the recent improvements in the U17 and U20 not exactly Rohr.

People keep on hammering on building on what Rohr has established, what has he established? Spain, Germany and other teams have well defined patterns of play, that is something you can build on, but after three years we don't even know if our team is a counter attacking team or a possession based team. IMHO, there is nothing to build on.

Then again people asking for a tactician as an assistant to Rohr, at the end of the day Rohr will still have the final say, so hiring a tactician does not in anyway mean that our team will suddenly start playing well. The tactician can only advice and since Rohr's nature is already as it is, he may still remain conservative and that would just amount to a waste of tax payers money. IMHO a coach should also be the tactician, and if Rohr who earns well over 40k USD per month cannot be both, then that money I am certain can get us a serviceable coach who has a tactical acumen

Musa is not a winger he is a false 9.

He was poor for Leicester City as a winger.

We seem to have forgotten that against Iceland, we played a 3-5-2 with Musa as false 9 on the left.

Musa has the pace but lacks trickery which is essential. It's this trickery that gets you out of tight situations.

I still wonder who does the selection in the national team.

We need to reinforce the mildfield with fresh players. The likes of Eberechi Eze, Tega Onomah, Ovie, Semi Ajayi (if he moves away from league one), Joe Aribo (if his team gets to play in Europa League and he performs), Ramon Azeez (if he gets to play in the la Liga this season), Abdul Ajagun (if he gets to play in the Belgium Pro League or a better league this season), Azubike Okechukwu (if he gets to play), Nnamdi Ofoborh (if he gets game time in EPL), Dele Bashiru (if he gets to play in a decent league), Aniekeme Okon (he should be given the chance), Kingsley Michael etc.

We should draft in more players in the attack to make it competitive.

Lookman Ademola, Issac Success and Noah Bazee should slog it out for the wings position.

We should watch out for Sheyi Ojo (fc Rangers) and Bobby Adekanye (Lazio). They can be a good addition for the RW position alongside with Noah Bazee and Isaac Success. Chukwueze should be given the competition to bring out the best in him.

Lookman Ademola can slog it out with Simon Moses and Henry Onyekuru on the LW. Enough of makeshift players.

Ahmed Musa should be moved to SS or S position.

In the striker position, we have Olanrewaju Kayode, Taiwo Awoniyi and Sunday Odey should be given the chance to prove themselves. They should slog it out with Osimhen and Ighalo.

We can watch out Josh Maja and David Okereke.

Onuachu!?

In the defence, we need to bring back Idowu to slog it out with Collins on the LB.

Ebuehi and Aina should slog it out for the RB position. Then, Tomori should be chased after to represent us. Uduokhia should be added into the team.

The goalkeeper department is one the problems we have. The goalkeeper trainer should be sacked and replaced with a more competent one. Then, we are good to go.

Was it really lack of quality? Or coaching philosophy?

Akpeyi faces the axe at Kaizer Chiefs, Eagles Goalie considered Surplus

Daniel Akpeyi could be shipped out by Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the new PSL season according to reports in South Africa.

Akpeyi joined Amakhosi from Chippa United in January after a season-ending injury to first choice goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

As a result, Khune who is also Bafana Bafana’s first choice missed out on a place in Stuart Baxter’s team to the AFCON 2019.

While He is expected to make a return in the 2019/20 season, that could also mean Akpeyi drops to third, in the pecking order.

H/T Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs have nine players on their books that are not born in South Africa, although only seven of them need to be registered as a foreigner for the 2019/20 season.

The Premier Soccer League’s rules allow clubs to have five non-South Africans registered at any one time, however if the player receives permanent residence – like Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande – they can be registered as a local.

With Kambole, Kotei and Nurkovic all set to be registered following their arrival, there are exits on the cards for the club’s other foreign players, though the decision on which two will be registered should become easier if/ when Hadebe secures a move to Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey.

That leaves Castro, Akpeyi and ‘Dax’ – all of whom still have very uncertain futures at the club – and there is even the possibility that (with Castro transfer-listed and Akpeyi likely to be third choice if Itumeleng Khune and Bruce Bvuma are fit) none of them may be at the club by the time the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Akpeyi who is on duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations was between the sticks when the Eagles eliminated Bafana Bafana from the competition in the quarter-final.

Nigerians always overrate the Super Eagles.

This is a team that has failed to qualify for the previous two AFCONs.

Getting to the Semis is a pleasant surprise.

If you like bring Mourinho, they are not going to play better than this. You can only use the available players and right now, Nigeria doesn't have players to dominate the continent. How many Nigerian players are playing in top clubs?

Rohr is not the problem. Nigeria fans' unnecessary expectations is the problem.

This is the simple truth people fail to see. we are not there yet in terms of quality players.

Actually Joebie also saw Algeria coming. Me I did but I buried it. No way I was gonna go pessimistic even though I knew Rohr's conservatism was always gonna come to the party at some crucial point in the tournament. It's sad but we move on from here.
The Post-Mikel Era is finally born.

In all, Algeria were good value for their victory. They will win their 2nd Afcon title... But Senegal won't like losing out twice to them.

Ohhh that Mahrez freekick!!! The Super Eagles need to have a good and consistent setpiece (FK) taker- both long range and short range (edge-of-the-box-kind).
One set-piece can win games as we saw yesterday. I am sure if Nigeria had that chance Mahrez hadz we would have blown it and gone to Extra time.

I don't completely agree with you.

I think until we find a better replacement we should still persevere with Rohr.

What we don't know is the extent to which his hands were tied when it came too scouting and player selection. There are and continue to be other influences.

He is not stupid he knew we had handicaps in midfield and defence. But did we invite enough players to be tested to consider other options, CAPITAL NO.

He did the best with what he had albeit with some very stupid mistakes. Knowing fully well the kind of team Algeria is his selection was not the best. IMO.

His hands were tied? With his substitutions? With his lineups? With his one and only formation? With his inability too read matches?
Yall said we should cut him some slack... the slack is already sagging off his body. Is it until he gets naked before you know he needs no slack?

Semi final is not a bad result for us. We got to last 4 in a 24-team tournament.

Player for player, we are not even better than Mali that got knocked out in round of 16.

The earlier we realize we are not the best team in Africa, or even have the best players in Africa, the better.

I expected Rohr to bring in Aina for Awaziem instead of substituting Chukwueze.

Awaziem is good as a defender but not good as a RB. It was very glaring.

I have explained before. Mismanagement of the team. Lack of support from the NFF, unpaid bills and allowances and finally being played on a poor pitch which was an advantage to the opposition.

I think they played over 50 games and did not lose any. That team only lost once.

We missed Ebuehi on the right.

It will also be nice to consider Moses Odubajo.

That is why I said support and time. Rohr did not just coach the team but he enjoyed support financially and time. This is something we never give to our indigenous coaches.

EPL: Pep Guardiola Includes Nigerian Goalkeeper In Man City Squad

EPL: Pep Guardiola Includes Nigerian Goalkeeper In Man City Squad
Gavin Bazunu/Manchester Evening News
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has called up a goalkeeper of Nigerian descent, Gavin Bazunu, for the Citizens’ 2019 Asia pre-season tour this week.

Bazunu is in line to make his first-team debut for the Premier League champions when Man City face West Ham United in their first pre-season game on Wednesday, according to Allnigeriasoccer.

Man City will also play either Wolves or Newcastle United in the Premier League Asia Trophy play-off game on Saturday.

Bazunu joined Man City in the January transfer window this year from Shamrock Rovers.

The young goalkeeper made his debut for City Under18s in an Under18 Premier League clash against Stoke City in February this year.

Other goalkeepers included in the squad are experienced shot-stopper, Claudio Bravo and second choice goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw.

Going forward, Rohr should be sacked. He has done well no doubt especially in his man management but let the truth be told he has equally been given all the support he needed. Pinnick and the NFF have provided him with atleast 80% support for 3 years which no other coach has enjoyed probably apart from westerhorf.

Rohr should go. His timidity is infectious and cancerous.

In his stead, i am going to propose 3 candidates that i believe are going to give us the style of play that we all deserve and want. Also they come cheap and within our payroll.

I am fortunate to watch almost all the matches of AFCON 2019 and therefore in good stead to make 3 solid suggestions.

1. Mr Nicolas Dupuis (Madagascar/France)

A French man and the current coach of Madagascar team. Madagascar were ranked outside 100 coming into this competition yet their coach was able to make them play fearless with an attacking style to make you grin with envy. Even though they eventually bottled it against Tunisia but they showed the Tunisian's no respect.

They are fit and extremely Athletic, the coach made them so actually. They score freekicks too. They were also composed for the penalty shootouts against Uganda.

Think of what this man did with Madagascar at this tournament and think of what he will do with Nigeria at the World Cup.

If it were Rohr incharge of Madagascar at this tournament, he would have told them they were coming to their first tournament and therefore have no chance against anybody. He would have probably played all 11 players behind the ball against Nigeria. Smh

They benefits of hiring Nicolas Dupuis are immense.

2. Djamel Belmadi (Algeria/Algeria)

He wasn't their coach when we walloped them in Uyo three years ago but he came in after that and improved the team in all aspects. Whereas our coach couldn't do the same for us.

Imagine getting jittery against a team you chewed to threads not too long ago. It only shows your deficiency.

We can hire Belmadi too though with his current stride with Algeria, he will come abit expensive than Nicolas.

3. Muhamed Magassouba (Mali/Mali)

This man used complete rookies and teens at this tournament for Mali yet he played one of the most beautiful, exciting and entertaining football. His squad consisted mainly of Mali's 2013 and 2015 U17 members yet they delivered. It took experience for Ivory Coast to defeat them 1 nil.

While Rohr made us believed that Teens cant play African football, this man proved him otherwise. Attack, Attack and more Attack were the only thing Mali knew, they were only outdone by that solitary Ivory Coast goal by Wilfred Zaha.

......

My submission

I will pick French man Nicholas Dupuis anyday anytime as he currently fits perfectly into what we seek, Good man management, ambitious, cheap, style of play, and available.

.......

Going forward, NFF should stop hiring German coaches as their game play, style are not our way of playing.

Our style of football is the fluid, entertaining and attack minded. The Dutch, French and South American football are what we model after, therefore coaches from there are whom we should seek

i still support Rohr ... if he can get some technically sound managers .... but on the other side ...any foreign coach from France , Netherland or Germany will give us the desired result .. i can't trust any of our local coaches , their corruption practices is too much ... also the NFF should pick all our legend ...ex internationals , in each of their department , they should work with them let them give us their likes ...at all age grade level .under 15, 17, 20,23 Eg Okocha , should scout for MIDFIELDERS .... Kanu ,Aghahowa , should scout for strikers ....Finidi ;should scout for wingers ....they can recognise good talents when they see them ... if this process continues for the next 5 years , we it will produce result.

I'll always appreciate Rohr for the good things he has done for our football.. He took us back to the AFCON after 2 failed attempt. He has brought unity into the team, such that hasn't been seen in a while..

But after 3 heatsink charge and considering how much support he has received, we deserve better than this... there's nothing he has achieved that some other coaches haven't..
we have a talented squad on our hand.. A tactically astute coach is needed to help us move forward ...

I think its high time we stopped making noise about this 2 Afcon misses talk... the dude Rorh did no extra ordinary thing. Truth is he enjoyed uninterrupted support with minimal interference. And i think thats why a lot of us here looked the other way. If we did that with Keshi or Oliseh, we wont be where we are. Lets learn to put things into proper perspective! Even if you give gernot Rorh the 94 Eagles set, he will still play the same way. Gosh! I still wonder why we are surprised at what we got.
