I wouldn't advice you to quit your current job even after you get the US visa.

When you get to the US you can use that opportunity to apply and visit the company and if in case you are called for an interview. During the interview you should be able to tell the recruiter that you're still working at the same branch of the company in Nigeria.

If they really need you the company should be able to put in paperwork for a work permit for you so that when you return back to Nigeria you would have had all the documents from the company to apply for a US work visa and may be granted.

I think we should respond to people's comments and post in this manner. And point to them this is not a Migrant (Legal or Illegal) Thread.

My brother is a student in Germany (9 months) and was denied USA visa for a conference on b1/b2 visa. he has been to United Kingdom several times (travelling experience). BUT the consular said he has to use more than a year in Germany before he can issue him a visa. Why? Please any expert to enlighten me on it, thanks in anticipation.

Your advice is of little value to him. He is hoping to apply as a security officer. He cannot get an h1b for that since it is not a specialty occupation. Also even if he were able to get an h1b, it would not come with an I-94, requiring him to go to Nigeria to get a stamped visa. Considering he traveled first on a B1 visa, which is not meant for job scouting, he is likely to be denied.

I understand we all want to be “nice” in our responses but we should not encourage outright fraud which then harms other innocent nigerians.

Has he ever been denied a US visa before? The consular officer likely isn’t convinced that your brother is interested in schooling at all.

Oh shoot!...You're right. Just re-read the do's and don't of the US visiting visa.

Please, I need urgent response.
I scheduled an interview for 16th of August. I would like to reschedule to an earlier date for certain reasons, but this is the warning I see when I open the page for rescheduling:

"If you cancel this appointment, then you will have exceeded the limit of appointments canceled, and will not be able to schedule another appointment until another MRV fee has been paid."

Mind you, I have never cancelled or rescheduled any appointment before. Why am I seeing this notice, and is it safe to just ignore and go ahead with the rescheduling?
Thank you.

Thanks, but I would prefer an earlier date (not necessarily July) for certain reasons. The main reason for asking is to get feedback from you guys about that warning I was displayed about paying additional MRV fee

It’s like a tally number, though of no significance (Except at the verification point before you walk into the embassy) these days because everyone goes in at the same time. Even if your AP is past noon. First come first serve basis.

In the spirit of sharing transcripts.........so that we know that visas are still being issued.

My sister had her visa interview this week.

Transcript as follows:

CO: You've been to the US before? Yes

CO: What are you doing in the US this time? Attending my brother's wedding

CO: Is your brother in the US? No, he applied for a K1 visa

CO: Has the visa been granted? Not yet, he was asked to submit additional documents

CO: The last time in the US, where did you stay? Stayed with my brother's fiance

CO: You met her after they got engaged? Yes

CO: Does she visit Nigeria? Yes

CO: When is the wedding? August xxxx

CO: You work in xxxx? Yes

CO: What level? 12

CO: Have you visited other countries? Not really, but i had an 8 hour stop over in Dubai during my last trip

CO: Your visa is approved.....bla bla bla

I think if you have a valid reason to travel.....it increases the chances of getting a visa.

I'm not talking about cancelling. I'm talking about rescheduling. I can see that there are available dates in early August. I'm talking of Abuja, not Lagos.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by etjigger(m): 5:34pm On Jul 20, 2019
you can still travel with the old and new passport
maddock:

My brother it is "cancelled without prejudice" not just cancelled or with prejudice. Cancellation of the old passport ain't got nothing to do with the visa. Its not even about you telling them to leave out the valid visa because they would definitely leave it before since its still valid. So simply use rubber band to band both the old and new passport together for your travels. Please don't start trying to explain to any immigration officer that your passport was cancelled without prejudice and you have a valid visa because this matter is a normal occurrence and nothing odd about it.

He’s lucky they gave him reasons for denial because they need to give standard report to German government while they denied any applicant. Unlike Nigeria, 95% of visas applicants refused in Nigeria are not given the reasons they were denied, just a filthy unexplained sheet of paper. Tell him to wait for 15months and re-apply.

Hello house,
Can anyone advise if there's a car park around US embassy in Lagos where I can park my car early in the morning?
I'm thinking of leaving my house 4am and d chances of getting uber by that time is quite slim.
Thanks

Do you live in Abuja (Not Marrabah and Masaka)? if yes you can leave around 6am, you will get to the embassy before 7:15am no matter where you're coming from.
