Ajagun has paid his dues despite being conspicuously denied the opportunity to play for his father's land.

He has played in a bigger clubs than Etebor, Ogu, Nwakalis brothers etcetera yet these players got invited ahead of him.

They said why can't he get a decent club in Eredivise? He went. After that, they said he can't get game time but the bobo went and still saw game time with an MOTM award.

They said Eredivise is a lowly league that he can't play in Belgium Pro League but they were shocked he moved to Belgium.

Dem say he can't get game time but the bobo didn't just played but won motm and made Belgium Pro League team of the week.

I am waiting for the next yan. Maybe, dem go say why is he not playing in La Liga with Real Madrid or in Seria A with Juventus?

The said player has achieved more than Kelechi Nwakali in professional football but we dey hear Nwakalis na Maradona, he is better than jay jay Okocha.

Make una dey deceive una else for here.

Chai Ajagun must be following this thread to av been moving from one league to another as he was directed by the members of this thread, to prove himself bhuhahahaha

Osimhen should keep working on his speed, tactical positioning, reading of the game and finishing skills. Not to bulk up. I believe he would learn more at Lille.

If Ajagun or any other person can move the ball, pass accurately , score the goals required, make use of set pieces then i would suggest they are invited. We need to stop making us believe our players are bigger than what tbey are. We need people thay can deliver and not names who will be strolling around the field. If Keshi listened to folks here, i doubt he would have won the Afcon

That Gernot Rohr person is a master of excuses. Could somebody ask him a simple question. How many champions league players did the Algerian team that played him out of the park parade

This man should've been fired immediately after the World Cup. I have never believe that he got what it takes to coach the Super Eagles. If we have to hire a foreign coach, let's hire a coach with a proven track record.

Iwobi Does Not Start Regularly For Arsenal, Leicester Not A 'Big' Club' - Rohr In Search Of A Midfielder To Replace Mikel

Published: July 18, 2019

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has more or less confirmed that John Obi Mikel is set to call time on his international career with the Super Eagles after making 89 appearances.

The German revealed that he is searching for a top midfielder to replace the long-serving Nigeria international and the ideal candidate has to be playing for a top Champions League club.

Though Rohr has praised Ndidi and Iwobi for their performance in Egypt, the German noted that Leicester City are not among the top six clubs in the Premier League while the winger is not a guaranteed starter for Arsenal.

''We have to thank this great player for his career and all that he has done for Nigeria and even if he did not participate in the qualifiers we invited him to participate in this AFCON and he played his role of captain even if he did not play often, and for the team it was good to have him,'' Rohr told reporters.

He continued : ''It is true that we have to search for some midfielders, we have Ajayi, who was in the 25-man list but not in the 23, playing in England. He could play in defensive midfield.

''We have other young players but it depends on what they are doing in their clubs. We don't have players in Champions League clubs for example, we have good players but playing in second division in Germany and England.

''We only have two playing in England regularly but Alex Iwobi does not start all the time at Arsenal and Ndidi is at Leicester but it is not a very big club, so I think we have to work hard to find these players who can replace Obi Mikel.''

Obi Mikel started two group matches against Burundi and Madagascar and his Africa Cup of Nations ended after suffering a knee injury in the final group game.

forgiveness:
Rohr should not throw away Balogun because of one mistake after he has done well for the team in the past 3 years. He should extend invitation to him if he gets to play regularly for his club.

Kelechi Nwakali should get game time before he is invited to the national team. This is Nigeria's national team.

Rohr to overhaul Eagles as players reach end of international careers

Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr will embark on a complete overhaul of his team if he retained his position as Nigeria’s manager.

The Franco/German is set to sit down with his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to evaluate his stewardship and decide on the way forward.

The NFF President, Amaju Pinnick recently said the federation would not sack the former Bordeaux coach adding, however, that the federation would help him to become more efficient.

With the retirement of Skipper John Obi Mikel, who is likely to be followed by the first-choice striker, Odion Ighalo, Rohr is looking to fill some of the positions that would be affected by the new development, as well as plugging the holes he noticed in the team at the African Nations Cup.

Apart from the retiring players, among those that they may no longer feature in Rohr’s team are Leon Balogun, Daniel Akpeyi, John Ogu, and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

According to a source close to the coach, Rohr was disappointed by the performance of some of his trusted players, particularly Leon Balogun and Daniel Akpeyi and as such wants to have capable replacements before the World Cup qualifiers begin.

“Balogun and Ogu are senior citizens in the team, but they disappointed when they were given the opportunity to play against Madagascar.

“Balogun’s game has been going down since he relocated to England and at 30, the coach believes it is time to look at younger players.

“He is still certain for a good partner for Troost-Ekong as Kenneth Omeruo has proved to be unreliable, but the Chelsea star will still maintain his squad place pending when there is a better alternative.

“Ogu has not actually featured prominently in Rohr’s team, so the coach thinks it is time to let him go. He believes that given the opportunity, youngsters like Kelechi Nwakali, Osimhen and Dele Alampasu can plug the holes in the team.”

The source said the coach is desperately in search of good goalkeepers from within and outside Nigeria, adding that Rohr has encouraged the NFF to look at how to get Arsenal young goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo to pledge allegiance to the Super Eagles.

Super Eagles manager Gernort Rohr revealed that he's in search of Mikel Obi's replacement following the midfielder's retirement on Thursday.

According to the Franco-German boss, he is in search of a player who regularly plays for a Champions League club and has all it takes to feature in different positions in midfield.

Considering the manager's criteria, new Glasgow Rangers acquisition Joe Aribo is the best man for the job based on his versatility and his determination to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with allnigeriasoccer.com earlier in the year, Aribo declared his love for the Super Eagles and he will be glad to feature for the team in the nearest future.

''I am definitely open to playing for Nigeria, I'd be happy to play." he said.

''There has been no contact with the Nigeria Football Federation. I'll honour the invitation if I get a call-up.''

Aribo can best be tagged as 'young Mikel' because of his abilities to feature as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder and as an attacking midfielder.

Just like Mikel, Aribo is known for his trademark and defense-splitting passes which often end up creating goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

The fact that he plays for Rangers, who is managed by a world-class midfielder in person of Steven Gerrard, is another reason why the 22-year-old is the best candidate to take over from the former Chelsea star.

Aribo's quality as a versatile midfielder will definitely improve on steady basis as he's going to learn new skills from the Liverpool legend.

His commitment towards representing the Super Eagles is an assurance that Rohr will get the best out of the youngster as his zeal will see him give his all for the team.

In fact, Aribo could be an upgrade to the new Tranzonspor midfielder because he also score goals too, unlike Mikel who has just six goals from 89 international matches.

The search is made simple for Rohr, all he needs is to hand a debut call-up to the youngster and run the rule over him on the training ground.

Please, what club does Ajagun play for now?

I think the reason Rohr has been overlooking him is because of his height. For a CM, he is too short at 168cm and may be a liability in Goal kicks as he won't win headers

You know better than this ,how can you judge a player by saying he is too short to win headers ,is that what football is all about ?

And mind you am not a fan of ajagun and I feel the players in super eagles that was invited are better than him

But for you to judge player by height you no try at all ,should I list short players that plays in the midfield ,I will not even list the popular ones ,but Matthieu valbuena says hello ,and this is a player with more than 50 appearance for France .

An average player will never win 50 caps for France

Both can be invited and tested. Whosever delivers should play. Not like wr have consistent players in the national team at the moment. Until we start churning out quality then we can be selecting. We like hyping too much only for the players to be bashed after they don't meet our expectations. We need a team and anyone can make up a team
