tokunbo starts at 800k may be more or less depending on the hand drive it has and trim level, SVE is the luxurious trim with screen and optional reverse camera.

it is fuel economical as the Corolla with it's 1.5 or 1.8L QG engine.

The engine uses timing chain a plus but ensure to use recommended oil to avoid premature chain stretch cause timing chain replacement is not an easy job.

The engine has a defect of cam and crankshaft position sensor which causes jerking, loss of power and refusal to crank. Advice able to get a replacement of this part (brand-new OEM) and you will be fine

Simply put the original part. Produced by the car manufacturer or other authorised company.

OEM "original equipment manufacturer" buy brand-new of the two sensors you can order from AliExpress safer to buy new than tokunbo, last time I bought tokunbo sold 2500 each in Lagos and 4k each in Kano 2015 or was it 2016.

Those two sensors can make you change every part in the vehicle when they start their wahala if your mechanic doesn't know the working Dynamics of the QG engines.

The engine has 2 know defects

1. Timing chain stretch that is caused by wrong engine oil weight or poor maintenance and change interval of oil (sludge)

2. Cam and crankshaft sensor, made of magnetic and plastic, it begins to chop off or the wire gets cut (design flaw of wiring) or partial contact. Symptoms of this one is loss of power eventually car will refuse to start. you will change fuel pump, battery, Kickstarter, injector nozzle, brainbox if you are unfortunate to meet a kazeem. It's a straight forward fix that you can even change yourself.

Apart from this two issues if you don't mess with the wiring you will be fine.

one more thing this particular vehicle body falls apart easily and prone to rust from the tank area due to poor plastic covering in that aspect I would have adviced you buy Nissan Sentra instead, same vehicle in different body style but the Sentra body is more solid. But if you intend to use it for a short period (3years) you will be ok as long as you don't drag right of way with Danfo.

good luck

I need one that will last longer and fuel...

let's do it this way

I just graduated last year and I've been doing some business since my school days and I'm living fine now

I just need a car to move around with

my budget is 800-900k

Suggest a good car for me then

lest I forget, I'm a civil engineer

Thanks

This Almera is not for you because at your budget price only RHD Almera you will find and it cost money to convert to LHD. just get yourself a first generation Nissan Micra tokunbo, Peugeot 206 or a Nigerian used Kia Rio 08 to 2010 fits well within your budget.

A Honda Civic European 96 to 2000 would have fit that budget as tokunbo but to find the car itself in Nigeria you go Waka shoe go give up the soul grin that would have been one of the best car within your budget, but the Rover 6series that's 618i, 620 or 623 is same as the Honda of that year in parts, transmission and engine.

I have owned that particular Almera and I would buy it again if given the chance. Throughout my ownership it served well. just buy the Almera a well converted unit or a LHD from factory you will be ok. I only told you the defects so you won't be milked by kazeem like I was unfortunate to have been, cause I didn't have access to those information prior to my ownership.

Buy 2005 Honda Civic.

N1m will get you a tokunbo version. You will enjoy the car for many years before you think of upgrading.
