Same right who could not read the game against Argentina and during the game against Algeria he could not read the game to stop Algeria overrun the midfield. Till today that Argentina game still pains me. We had no right to lose that game at all. Argentina were in disarray. It was so obvious what he needed to so but nope. Yes, the Argentina loss was painful. But Coach Rohr learnt a great deal from that loss and perfected some changes.
I saw a brave Rohr making early changes against Madagascar and Cameroon which he rarely does.
I saw a Rohr defend a goal margin by constantly substituting a striker for a defender when we need to defend a lead. Imagine seeing a Balogun coming on for Iwobi once and Ighalo again when we dragged a lead against the Cameroonians and South Africans.
Rohr only problem in the AFCON was in two department, a good goalkeeper and an extra attacking midfielder.
Don't forget that since Carl Ikeme got ill, we've found it difficult to replace him with a competent goalkeeper. I don't know why Rohr sticked with basket Akpeyi and why he refused to play the other young keeper in his place. Well, I feel Rohr is still shopping for a better goalkeeper as well as more creative attacking midfielders that can give Iwobi competition in that midfield. I guess he should have taken the other young former U-17 captain on loan to Porto. The dude would have done better than the like of John Ogu we took to the tournament. He showed much respect to some senior players that had no business in the midfield.
All Rohr need now is patient while he undergoes his course. And when he returns, well see the difference, along with new changes to the team.
I see the likes of Akpeyi and Ezenwa not called again.
