Well, "this whole week" can also be construed as "So far, since yesterday and today." That is to say, technically, his statement wasn't erroneous. Paying closer attention to the context of that writer's expression puts a question mark on your sarcastic, cynical comments. For instance, one can affirm, without risk of running into invalidity, that he/she hasn't eaten the whole or all day (today) at 4:00PM due to a laborious work schedule, in spite of the fact Monday is yet to elapse. Obviously, the reader's or listener's focus is basically drawn to the length of time, which in this case is the sentence's object referring to the subject.

Meanwhile, when I surf the internet, I notice with dismay how some netizens try so hard to make others seem unintelligent, even when unbeknownst to them they end up making either same or related mistakes. If you spot a grammatical error online and develop a linguistic need or scruple to correct, kindly do so without subtly querying the author's intelligence or descending to denigration. That minimizes the chances of the author taking it personal and constrains him/her to learn. Your point is safely driven home and the passenger takes note. You see, the final consequence is a win-win situation.

Firstgentleman1:
- In 2015, the minister of state for petroleum/NNPC GMD, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu came out to say that the NNPC was overstaffed.

- The corporation went on to create seven divisions and several other subsidiaries in 2016. After doing this, the same man had to take back his words by saying the restructuring actually brought to fore the need for more staff since it was discovered that the corporation was actually understaffed.

- The last set of recruited staff resumed the towers in 2012.

- The 2014 recruitment was cancelled by the Buhari led government in 2015.

- According to figures from the 2012 recruitment, about 595 GTs were employed.

- Bebrief, Xfire and of course some of those successful candidates have since left the corporation.

- Promotion is conducted every 3 years. 2012 to date is seven years. Which indicates that those set of GTs have earned at least a step higher up their career ladder.

- A member of the panel that interviewed me told me that NNPC was going commercial, which conotes the need for more hands.

- NNPC released its financials recently and they recorded a trade surplus of over N6bn. Which lends credence to this issue of commercialisation.

What is the essence of the nonsense I have conjured up there? The summary, let us bring dots, connect them and make realistic inferences.

I am very surprised that no one has ever had any thoughts along this line. This is what we should be discussing and not creating tension all over the place. Some people have been placed on perpetual thinking since several theories started making the rounds. I see a lot of people bringing forth unsubtatiated news. If you don't know, you are killing some people by your actions. Let us try to connect dots and not ridicule people in the name of having fun.

We are done with interviews, any discussion we should be having should be in line with realistic expectations. Thank God for Xfire who deemed it fit to tell us about some processes after APL. This should be the core of our discussions. I bet you most of the people laughing and catching harmful fun won't be able to do same if APLs eventually gets churned out and they didn't make the cut. They would be the same ones that will start formulating other theories.

Let us be considerate in all we do. Moderation is golden if you must know.

I am sorry in advance for any one that will take offence to my post. I beg you in God's name, no one should quote me to form savagery. If you do, you will end up looking the fool because you won't even be dignified with a response.

Thank you.

During my interview, that was the first question I was asked straight away, "what is the difference between privatization and commercialization, which is best for Nigeria and why?"

I quickly went back to the electioneering period where Atiku promised to sell off NNPC (Privatization) against Buhari's and Kachukwu's commercialization plan. I am an Economist and stand for privatization (my opinion) but I knew it would be foolish of me to chose that in a Government controlled by the proponents of Commercialization.

Na so I choose commercialization and gave my reasons b4 Atiku would put me inside trouble. grin

Hmm, i think i know one who would have been lucky, he interviewed on the 11th, wore an old worn out chinos and green striped shirt, he was tall and the clothes where rumpled and too small, i looked at him and felt bad because i knew that for him to have worn such a cloth, he truly didn't have any other, money to buy or who to borrow from, when he stood up ppl looked shocked i am sure some laughed but i guess his clowning has become his glory... Kudos to whoever had the choice to push him through, i pray for unmerited favor also. grin

You just wanted to show your grammatical prowess obviously. Your comment in summary is largely verbose and unwarranted.
And when has strictly abiding by the rules of English Language I write in become a case of "show"? It's similar to saying because Jarus counsels so well in career matters, the underlying intention is "show" or that Xfire is so conscientiously generous with sharing his career personal experiences for posterity's benefit, hence it is informed by a desire for "show?" Objectivity says such view is narrow and conflicts with logic.

Again, "verbose and unwarranted" because it exposes your comment as fallacious, urges you to take humility pills and shun ridiculing others instead of correcting them, if they commit a blunder? Haven't you wondered yet how I successfully did all those without implicitly or explicitly mocking you? Kindly take a cue for the sake of next time.

What's wrong with this guy? You think you are abiding by the rules of English with the way you write? Listen! English is simply a language of communication. Using big words unecessarily spoils the flow of the communication and it is not a measure of intelligence of you may be thinking that way. E.G, your last sentence could have simply flowed better if you just replaced "implicitly" & "explicitly" with the more common words - "directly" or "indirectly". Have taken a language test before? You should try with this your pattern of writing to know how far.

So my diction is now the problem, no longer the message, which gave rise to its usage at first? What a move to take attention away from my posts' core to its periphery! Nevertheless, I believe the clarity of my position remains intact; at least, it is yet to be refuted.

The words I've used so far are quite common ones you find on social media, in memos and books. Words are meant to be used, not to gather dust in dictionaries or minds. I learn, love, and enjoy using them. Anyone who thinks I'm showing off is mistaken.

Perhaps, I'm sounding formal, a fact related to this forum's nature. I seldom comment here, meaning I do when the need arises (trying to feel big by making others feel small is just irritating, hence my reactions). That reverse is the case for some with their peculiar style of communication doesn't compel me to copy them. I don't need to sound pedestrian in a room full of graduates to prove I'm linguistically down-to-earth. I relish my freedom to be me, as long as understandability is achievable.

Since this has now turned to an English Language thread, let me add this.
The bolded statement is a compound sentence(a sentence that has two independent clauses), and thus, there should be a comma after the first independent clause. So, after ‘home’, there should be a comma.
