I uploaded my Notification of Result, because my certificate was not available at that time. The official transcript must come from the University (I hope they still accept notification of results, things change every day).

When the ECA document is ready, CES will send you a passworded preview copy, asking you to check through for any errors. If there's none, they will proceed and send you the official hard copy. Unlike WES, CES will not send official soft copy

I didn't want to use the preview copy, so I had to wait forever for the hard copy, it never arrived, I went to the post office close to where I live, they said nothing arrived after chilling for 3 months. So I had to request for a duplicate copy from CES, I sent it to a friend in Canada, he got it with 5 business days and he scanned it to me.

So I advice that you pay for international courier. It's more expensive but very reliable or you can use standard post to send to someone in Canada to scan to you.

Some people have chosen standard post delivery and they got their ECA from the post office without any problem, but there's a 50:50 chance that it may take forever to get to you.

Dinma27:

Please what and what did you send to CES? And will they send you a copy?

I have been following the thread for a while now and I wrote IELTS GT (MOD IDP) for the first time on July 6, 2019. Thankfully, the result came out as LRWS 9, 9, 7.5, 8.5

I would like to share some tips on the listening part. I understand it may not work for some but I think it helped me.

I can share the materials I used if you request.[/quote].

Thanks for the info. Kindly share the materials with me mellybday@gmail.com

@Bolded. Yes.

Good evening, please I need your contribution on a particular issue. Does a full time work experience acquired while on a study permit in a country counts for express entry purpose.
kindly bear in mind that my Post graduate program is part time. I know that part time work experience acquired as a student counts as I saw that on CIC page.does it really matter that I don't have a work permit to work full time in the country whilst I know that I don't need a work permit to work per time.
I can get my department to write a letter stating that my program is part time and even support with timetable to show that my classes does not affect the work am doing.kindly advise as I only have 2 years work experience before traveling to start this program.

1. Yes
2. No. You only reference letters for work experience you are claiming points for. The rest goes to personal history.

jaybros:
to be sure please bosses confirm...

1. Do i only need reference letter for the NOC in which i am claiming my 3 years plus points for?
2. Is there any need to get reference from previous work places if I must declare it?
3. One of such previous work experience is NYSC, not sure the school principal will remember me and I am certain they do not have records.

IELTS key points to note
Orange1234:

I thank God for seeing me through this incredible journey. I am yet to get PPR but I decided to share my experience regarding the IELTS General test. I am currently awaiting PPR. This is an EPISTLE because I want to help people who are new to this journey the same way this thread has helped me. There may be grammatical errors lol because I do not have the time to proofread. I may forget to share this when I get my PPR so I decided to do this now.

My Canadian dream started in early 2017. A friend of mine who got PPR explained the process to me and referred me to cic’s website. I wrote IELTS the time in 2017 when I was unfamiliar with the exam format. I used one of Baron’s IELTS textbooks. That was my first mistake. My overall score wasn’t great and I scored 6.5 in writing but that was to be expected because I didn’t know much about the test format. Eventually I learnt that Cambridge IELTS series was the better option. I downloaded as many Cambridge IELTS general books I could find online and practiced with them for my second IELTS test.

I read everything I could about the writing test on websites such as Liz’s website, and practiced very well. A friend of mine introduced me to this Nairaland thread. I read many threads to make sure I had a sound understanding of the entire process. This took many weeks. When I saw my second IELTS General result, I still fell short of the required score in writing alone with a 6.5 score yet again. The third time I wrote the IELTS test (January 2018), I took a different approach and decided to spend an equal amount of time evaluating my writing via independent sites such as www.slickwrite.com. I like the slick write site because it checks grammatical errors and sentence structure, so I was able to learn to ensure that I expressed myself with an active voice instead of a passive voice. This was the main area of improvement I noticed because I enjoyed constructing my sentences in both passive and active sentences. I like writing in different styles but this may not work in IELTS tests since it appears the examiners favour academic writing to an extent in IELTS task 2. I even paid for ‘Cambridge English write and improve’ to evaluate my writing. This website is owned by Cambridge, the same organization that organizes IELTS-British council tests. A registered user is able to click on IELTS general or academic profiles and practice with the blank spaces provided under each question. I noticed the technology kept scoring me a 6.5 so I decided to test their algorithm by placing essays that scored 7.5 or above of various IELTS ex-examiners under the same question type, this technology still scored these essays a 6.5 score. Therefore, how could I expect my score to be any different? I just used a graph below to critic my writing, the graph shows you if your previous score improved after making changes to the same essay. I saw improvements with every change so I knew I was on the right track. I decided to just keep practicing and using the different essay-evaluation sites to rate my writing. I could not afford to pay online professional evaluators because the quoted prices were too expensive. I also didn’t have much faith in them. In addition, I paid for an Udemy IELTS tutorial, which helped me tremendously.

By the time I wrote my third IELTS test, I was very convinced that I would get a minimum of 7. Lo and behold, I got a 6.5 yet again. I expressed my frustration to my friend and he told me to re-mark. He was under the impression that IELTS examiners sometimes scored the tests wrongly. He said the request for remark would be forwarded to UK so I had a better chance of getting a fair score. I told him that I had read on Nairaland that most people that asked for a remark were unsuccessful in gaining a higher score. He persuaded me and I asked for an Enquiry on Results (EOR) regarding my writing score only. My score was upgraded after few weeks to a 7. I was overjoyed. My funds were returned to me after several weeks. By this time, I had evaluated my Bachelors degree with WES. I requested for an additional evaluation relating to my ACCA advanced diploma. My ECA came out successfully and I dived in the pool and got ITA on June 12th 2019.

My brother had a Masters so I coached him on the entire journey specifically the IELTS. He had great results FIRST TIME but a 6.5 in writing. I just looked at him and said ask for a remark because I was sure his writing was good. Why was I so convinced? Because he has used my method and split his time equally between practicing and evaluating his writing. He is now in Canada. I didn’t even claim points for sibling because he went too close to when I submitted. That’s how I know that when God says it is your time, everything will work in your favour. I have not been following this thread for a while so I may not see responses but if you have further questions, you can send me a message. Although I am sure I have divulged my entire IELTS strategy here.

My advice to future IELTS Test takers: Make use of Cambridge IELTS books when preparing, that’s all you need for the listening tests. The audio for each test is provided. The Cambridge textbooks won’t help you with your IELTS writing because I feel the answers to the essays given are too simple. The skeptic in me thinks this may be deliberate on their part. I’m surprised at the essay scores attributed to these essays. It’s better to find out what you are doing wrong regarding writing than seeking to place the blame on the test system in general. Remember you are the one with the Canadian dream not British Council or MOD IELTS examiners. If you are convinced your writing is adequate then please ask for a remark. Make use of Youtube videos to practice your speaking test; imagine the examiner is asking you the question and not the respondent. You can easily download books with various questions on speaking to practice but be weary of using the answers because there may be a lot of grammatical errors. Finally, you can choose to use any of the sites I mentioned to evaluate your writing. I wish you all the best. May God favour you all.

Thanks for reading.

My humble self.

My Short story.

I am very happy to be a part of this great e-family, with the level of selflessness exhibited here in one way or the other, I am amazed.
I am more of a promoted silent reader grin grin

My Timeline.

IETLS: This guy showed me pepper, I lost weight, I just knew I had to pass this exams even if it means passing for the sake of passing, sometimes its psychological for me.
12th, May 2018 (1st attempt) : BC LRWS 7.5,7.5,6.5,7.5 ( I tried my luck on a remark, my 15k flew away).
8th, Sept 2018 (2nd attempt): BC LRWS 7,7,7,7.5
1st Dec 2018 (3rd attempt) : MOD LRWS 8.5,7,7.5,6.5 (speaking got upgraded to 7 after a remark)

I got my upgraded TRF on the 28th Jan 2019, I still don't know what pushed me to set up my profile immediately, we had a surprise draw on the 30th of Jan with a cut off draw of 438. My score was 450, so I got ITA.

ECA: 13th June 2018 ( evaluated only my Master's degree)
NOC: 4031 (NYSC)
AOR: 2nd March 2019
MEP: 15th April 2019
BIL: 17th April 2019
No ghost update, in fact, my eligibility isn't passed yet according to my CIC account.
PPR mail: 23rd July 2019
VO: I don't know who these guys are cuz I have never made any attempt to find out, it was just a personal decision not to call nor order notes.

Well, I did nursed the plan to leave the country immediately after my M.Sc, in fact I came across Express Entry after my NYSC in 2014, plan was to apply immediately after my M.Sc in 2017. Till this very moment, I still don't why and how I allowed 2017 slid by without even thinking of EE.

After my first ielts attempt, I just knew that I had to secure POF first.
POF is 100% gift from my Bro, I invested same in NTB, used the upfront interest and be dashing BC cheesy

Medicals/PCC:
I did medicals with IOM (Lagos) and PCC with Inspector Moshoud.

Congratulations to all the ielts smashers and ITA grabbers, please whatever situation you may face in this journey, just know its temporarily, don't give up, we will all get our heart desires in due course.

459!

Honestly I feel very weak.

Entered the pool with 450 since May1. Missed the 450 draw on the day due to the tie-breaker rule and draws have been over the roof since then.

Birthday in mid August(PA)
Ielts expires on 2nd of September(Spouse)

Sorry about my rant, just needed to pour this out.

All in your hands God.

Destiny cannot be truncated.
Hold on for your miracle: be strong.
See the bigger picture: Worse case scenario is CRS will drop if your worst fears on age and spouse's IELTS expires. Even then, there is still hope for the living because if EE doesnt work out PNP is all still workable.
Again I say hold on, be strong, it is not over until you are favoured.
Peace!

Option 1. Use the number of years that would be on the transcript. For example 2016 - 2019 = 3years

Option 2. Use the number of semesters that would on your transcript and divide it by two that is if it is two semesters per year. For example, if a transcript shows six semesters, the number of years shall be 6/2 = 3 years.

Option 3: Use the number captured in ECA report.

PS: Option 1 and 2 are for pre ECA while option 3 is for post ECA.

All the best.
