ahiboilandgas: Oando has corporate governance issues, excess debt, made the biggest loss after tax in corporate Nigeria about 3 years ago. Loss of over N200 billion. Most of the the non performing loans in the banking sector are loans given to oil marketing companies or Nigerian own companies in the oil and gas industry. A company got a $250 million loan from First Bank that is not performing. Femi Otedola just sold his shares in Forte Oil for a whopping N65 billion about 4 weeks. And he will be investing it in the power generation sector. I think he has seen the future and guessed the sector might not be profitable in the nearest future, most especially with the coming on stream of Dangote Refinery 5 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 8:36pm On Jul 24, 2019 |
needful: FUGAZ, First bank, UBA, GTB, access bank and Zenith Bank, control over 70% of the transactions and profitability in the Nigerian banking sector. The following tier 2 banks Stanbic IBTC, Fcmb and Fidelity are worthy of consideration. Nigerian banks have mastered the art and science of making money in Nigeria and some are now making money in Africa. They make money whether the country is in recession or not. I will advise you tread gently with Access, until you get the audited half year financial report, I want to believe a lot of toxic debts were inherited from diamond bank. 6 Likes 1 Share |

emmanuelewumi:Why is everyone thinking that Otedola selling his shares in forte oil automatically mean the future of oil sector in Nigeria is bleak? It might just be a wrong business move, no one can be certain. With the hype over Dangote refinery I can’t wait for when it will start so I can really see how it will affect the economy. I want to ask you though with the low rates of tbills now, is it good to still invest in it or do stocks/bonds, which is most ideal for this period 5 Likes 1 Share |

No chigo4u: The profit margins are declining, the half year financial report of Total and Forte showed reduced profits. Femi Otedola moved into a sector with a higher profit margin. Exxon Mobil sold there share in Mobil Oil about a year ago to Indian investors, with improvement in technology for cleaner enegy, electric cars etc if care is not taken this will have adverse effects on us as a nation. Are we prepared for this? 2 Likes |

ahiboilandgas: MRS used to be the down stream arm of Chevron before it was sold to the Dantata brothers. Subsidy payments running into hundreds of billions of naira is a major problem to us as a nation.. Most businesses in the downstream are moving diversifying to the midstream and upstream which is capital intensive. Unlike downstream that is majorly a petroleum product marketing business |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 6:09am On Jul 25, 2019 |
chigo4u: One doesn't have to wait to see. We can project its impact on the oil sector based on what the coming onstream of his cement/sugar/flour factories did to the hitherto thriving businesses in those industries, especially when we know the government will do anything to ensure his profitability. 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 7:37am On Jul 25, 2019 |
Long term capital should be invested in corporate bonds, government bonds, stocks, genuine real Estates and personal businesses (provided you have the patience and temperament to run your own profitable and sustainable business) Very few people have the ability to do so. Maybe about 1% of the population or less. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 7:42am On Jul 25, 2019 |
chigo4u: Guess you are referring to the down stream sector or petroleum products marketers. Femi Otedola moved away from that sector to the energy sector which gives a higher profit margin and the players are currently few. Do you know how much major petroleum products marketers are owing banks. 2 Likes |

needful:I really wonder why he thinks the rate will remain that way for yrs to come. It could go higher and of course it could drop or even crash, stock market is not where you leave your money and sleep. You have to monitor it maybe on a daily or weekly basis so u know when to opt out or not to. You could lose a great percentage you invested likewise gain much. It's not an investment you make for a long number of years without monitoring unlike tbills or bonds |
