Hi...I'm heading to the US on F1 visa

I read somewhere that cooking utensils are quite expensive in the US...I'm wondering if I can go with a few in my baggage from Naija.

For the experienced travelers...Is it possible?

Not necessary

Good Evening,
I have a US interview scheduled tommorow morning for me and my second son(infant) . Do I really need to have bank statements? when I have an introductory letter from my employer and pay lips showing my pay. I have also traveled with my wife and first child(USA born) to the US in 2017 and came back no hassles. Please answer urgent.

Did you bother to research it? I don't know why you will want to do that but if that pass through my scanner machine, I will assume you're trying to smuggle drug into the country, this is just my opinion and I believe no matter how expensive kitchen utensil is, you will always find the cheaper one.

through marriage, he was filed over by his wife... and please u people shouldn’t complicate this issue for me, I never said I wanted to apply for b1/b2 for them, I am asking what to do. Isn’t it normal for a legal resident to send invitations to see his parent after 10yrs

How did he get to U.S?

Okay good, so are you saying no need for him to prove he is capable to take good care of them when they get there. Coupled with the fact that he already own his own house over there
oluayebenz:

Twood has answered you.
Your parents need nothing from your brother...... just some info when filling the dsform
This's US visa application not UK where u need bunch of documents........

Just go to US embassy website apply for the visa and be hopeful...

So are u saying for elderly people who want to go see their son after 10years don’t need invitation from the son?. Even when the son is legal
skdfu747:

If your mom and dad are planning to apply for a B1/B2 visa then the case is between the consular officer and your parents only. smiley

Your elder brother cannot influence the B1/B2 visa application process even if he is a citizen or green card holder. smiley

If your elder brother is not a U.S citizen or green card holder then there is no point even involving him in the process. undecided

I can see you have made statements about “invitation letter
” multiples time on the thread but this is the fact for U.S B1/B2 visa please note that invitation letters are completely useless. shocked

What is this issue about invitation letter you have been emphasizing on from the beginning of your post?

You stated that elderly people want to go and see their son after 10years at the same time you stated that it is not B1/B2 visa you need for them.

You need to be clear about the visa category you plan to use.

That embassy dont care.........
Just take your time when filling the form.
All information needed will be filled on the Dsform, if possible let your brother do the job....

Him owning house, worth millions of dollars .... the embassy care less...... only the VO will decide if to issue the visa or not..... going there with bunch of documents is a total waste of energy

Normally, I will advise that this person is allowed to pack his/her parents and brother's "bags and baggage" to the Embassy, seems there's nothing you people will say about this process that would be passed across effectively, when they go in and come out without any of the "load" being checked, the understanding will come, no doubts. And these "invitation letter and documents to go with" thing is where applicants mostly expose themselves to agents unnecessarily!

I hope he gets the drift that all the parents need would be to fill the forms appropriately, submit print the appointment and DS160 confirmation pages, GTB US Visa fee receipts, passport photographs and international passports. Then know more about their son and be natural during interview. Stop thinking and believing your USC Sibling is a "chairman" oh, and that your parents will get a pass just because of him, they actually have to qualify for a visa as individuals in order to get one.

I hope the marriage you talked about is the source of his entrance into the US and not the source of his sustaining himself in the US after entering with a visit visa?

From experience and things I have seen from others, they hardly ask for bank statements. However, a friend going for B1/B2 was asked for hers. Since your brother is sponsoring your parents, it might be prudent to have his bank statement in the event they ask. His invitation letter can also state he is the one sponsoring the trip and the only reason I am suggesting this is in the rare event they ask for bank statement and all these will not guarantee a Visa. They need to show they have ties in Nigeria. Good luck to them.

Please everyone, I need your help here, my elder brother has been in the US for 10years now. And I just spoke to him about sending for mom and dad.

Please my question is what are the things we will need from him apart from sending and invitation letter? And what do we also need to do from here.

Please I will need contribution of ideas thanks

Hello house. I have a medical conference to attend in the us on the 2nd to 5th of nov. I believe the B1 visa is appropriate.

Do I need to get an invitation letter from the conference organizers?

I am the chief medical director of my clinic. Do I make use of the company’s account statement or personal statement and do I even need an account statement?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by kamee: 5:46pm On Jul 25, 2019
hello house, so i went to to renew my visa by drop box but i and my family (myself, hubby, and 2 daughters but the last is a citizen and ther was no one to leave her with) but we were asked to reschedule and appear. so fast forward to the vo asking question

VO - where are you going in the us and why
WE - florida for holiday about 2-3 weeks
VO - what do you do
I - business and explains
VO - faces hubby with same question
HUBBY - work at a corporate office with detail
VO - types and starts murmuring looks like he couldn't find any error on our document
VO- turns to the baby and ask why she was not an applicant
I - she's a citizen
vo - can i have your receipts and did you inform the embassy of your intent
we - yes we did and handed the intent later along side receipt and told him a total of $7500 bill was fully paid
vo - so you got a discount
we - no we did not, there's a zero bal inside the envelope stating we paid all there was
VO - why did you get a discount
I - was furious but kept my cool and said againg that there was no discount
VO - kept insisting about the discount (infact mention it 3 times) like his mind was made up about the discount and asked what state we had the child
VO - looks up and said NJ birthing bill was usually $17,000 so paying $7,500 was dicounted
VO - -hands over the blue paper

you see, all we incured including uber, housing, feeding, scan, blood works etc was totalling $15,000. should we have added all these expenses as birthing?. When the hospital billed us as self payfor 2 nights should i have asked them to increase my bill? I really need closure to this rejection. if he had said that we did not make our intent clear from the time of application, that would have been understood. Hubby says we should move on and try uk cos we want to take the kids on vaca but i want to explore the usa more since that is where my business is sourced from. and i also feel that if we do not clear the air about this discount, we would keep facing it or what do you think guys? Do we stand a chance if we re-apply?

Hello great people,

I did not type my middle name on appointment slip when I was filling it to book appointment for b1/b2 visa, and I am afraid I would not be interviewed because of this. I made effort to edit the it but it was greyed out so can't change it.

Note my middle name is in my DS160 form as contained in my passport: it is only on appointment slip that I did not add while filing it.

My interview is next week Friday; how can I correct this? Or I should not bother about it?

Please your urgent response from experience is appreciated.

What you just said is totally wrong, she said it was not discounted and she has her zero balance. My suggestion is to get in touch with the hospital and ask for your full financial detail of the child birth and if there's any hidden discount, if there's none please reapply and explain with evidence of your findings.

You have nothing to worry about. I don't think middle name is required on the CGI page.
worry about your ties to Nigeria.

Okay, a thought came to my mind that may be some of these hospitals might need to have some of the blame placed on them too...even though I understand that some people might not agree with me.

Reason I am putting some of the blame on some of these hospital in the US is because most of those US hospitals are not transparent with their itemized charges for each medical treatment( even though lately Trump signed a law that they should start doing it).

Most of these hospital are under the impression that if they charge the self-paying(International) patients the same as they would charge most private insurance or US government insurances that most of those self-paying(International) patients paying with cash will not be able to cover the medical charges and as a result they might not be able to get their money from them if they run away.

So most of those hospital will offer those self-paying with cash payments more discount hoping that it won't scare those patient away to payoff the medical charges billed on them.

The patients should also do proper research. Right from ages ago, I knew if you want to birth in the US just budget 10-15k for total hospital bill. People were so excited to pick the discount. Did they ever ask why the discount? What manner of discount will cut off thousands of dollars from your bill? Maka why? The smart ones didn't take it. They paid fully. It's really an unfortunate situation.
