Can't stop laughing at this your comedy. The folly of comparing an MCU which started in 2008 with a DCeu of 2013 still bewilders me. MCU had a 5 year head start and world building with solos before DCeu started. Had 4 years and about 3 solos before the Avengers team up movie. Besides not all solo movies You've mentioned had solos before the main team up, infact most got solos after the team up; Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Spiderman etc.

So what's your point.

The Boys is out already. It's on netnaija Just don't know if I will hook up straight up. When u watch the first few episodes abeg yarn me whether e make sense or not. I'm more prepped for the Witcher series coming out last quarter of the year .

I only mentioned those I know have a Solo movie and as you are not blind, you'd see I did not mention Vision or any of those you mentioned up there.

And in the original argument with a more sensible person, he said the JL will pulverize the Avengers. The start date of each franchise was of no concern of ours. You keep shouting solo movies upandan yet you have still not made a bloody point.

The guy I started the argument with and I have even reached some sort of agreement.

You asked which of the Avengers had a Solo movie and I mentioned those I know of. Now you saying their solo movies were after the Avengers idea. who cares? Solo does not have two meanings. You really are the one being foolish here.

Please and please if you don't have a sensible argument, Don't quote me.

I might be wrong, but I feel most successful directors in Hollywood can be classified into 3;

The ones that make highly rated, artistic, poetic, Oscar bait films that are continually lauded by critics:
Dennis Villeneuve, Barry Jenkins, Steve Mcqueen, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese etc

The other ones make highly budgeted pop-corn flicks and crowd-pleasers; huge advertising budgets that are sure box office winners for the studios/distributors: sad(Reviews don't matter)
Jon Favreau, Justin Lin, Mel Gibson, James Wan, Michael Bay etc

The third group make films that lit up the box office, impress critics and take up silverware on Oscar night
Though the catch is that they're very few.

Saw 5 minutes of inception while having dinner and concluded that Nolan is a rare breed that belongs to the third category. Same "Inception" was nominated for 8 Oscar awards and went on to win 4-after having made over 800 million on a 160 mill budget.

Skip over the bat films right down to "Interstellar":700 mill on 160 mill budget, nominated for 5 Oscars and won one.

Then comes "Dunkirk" in 2017; 577 mill on a 150 mill. Same was nominated for 8 Oscars and won 3.

At this point in Nolan's career, dude can command a 350 mill dollars budget for a film: no questions asked.

Which begs the question: What's he doing that other aren't? What makes him so special? Is it possible to impress both sides of the spectrum (Audiences and critics alike)?

What other directors belong in the same category as Nolan?

I'd say Steven Spielberg; check out Jurassic Park, E.T, Jaws, Saving Private Ryan and then we can talk.
