A contractor undertaking construction works of missing link roads and non-motorised transport facilities in Nairobi county at a cost of a whopping Sh4.5 billion has been given six months to complete the work.
The 17.2 kilometre road project funded by the Kenya government in collaboration with the European Union that commenced in May 2014 was expected to be completed in November 2016

Reynolds Construction Company Ltd, project manager Emil Flkiu is facing troubles finishing the project. Weekly Citizen has information, the firm does not have necessary equipments to undertake the works and has been hiring.
To complicate matters, the employees are not paid thus downing tools now and then.RCC also has trouble with Kenya Revenue Authority for failure to pay taxes running into millions.
A bank that used to advance the firm working capital has blacklisted it thus complicating its operations.
Already, due to poor work, Nairobi county development implementation coordination committee members have raised eyebrows over the capacity of the firm to complete pending works. Fear is that the firm’s directors bribe their way to win lucrative tenders without the capacity to deliver.
To show how things are bad at RCC, Flkiu surprised CDICC members when he said, “I will mobilise my team and machines to the interchange site, and promise the works will be completed within six months”.

KURA messed up here big time. Nigerians roads are like enterprise.1km take forever. There is expressway called Lagos - Ibandan.It's been under construction since 1970s - and it far from completion. Distance of 150kms or about. I read there is even a town now named after the contractor .

Actually, Nairobi messed up in roads in Westie and Industrial area - are due to Nigerians. Some Nigerian company called RCC (Reynold) - passing itself as subsidiary of Germany Starbag or Isreal SBI to win contracts - because the roads were being financed partially by EU - and they've taken 5yrs to do very tiny roads!!!!!!!!!!!!.
