If you join a company as a casual/intern, you should be given a permanent appointment after 6 month or 1 year.

Unfortunately, many youth are still working as casual/intern for 6 years or more

Labour should be seen fighting for poor Nigerians.

I don't blame some employers, is the govt that I will blame..... Employers take advantage of scarcity of job to be messing up..... it's a pity that we found ourselves in this useless country. I like his courage for speaking up.

Blackman form of capitalism is the worst version out there.

My sister comes home everyday complaining about the poor condition of work..she is a hard worker. I respect her. I wish I had a way of relieving her financially. But me I don't have a job myself.

Some boss are quick to debit but slow to make positive insentive available For job well done. No clear job describing or working hours. You can be kept overtime. But you are not to come late to work. Nigerians are really strong mentally, emotionally and physiologically.

What will depress most white people may just make us laugh.

I feel his pain. Nigerian workers are among the most underappreciated and insulted in the world.

The same bosses who ask you to burst your bubble from 6am to 8pm will close their eyes when it's time to pay you.
I have to assist a cousin who get up at 5am and return around 8.35pm on a monthly salary of 60k.
Ironically she works in a freaking bank and spend everyday counting huge amount of money.

The same thing with divergent enterprise ( landlagos, Porkoyum and Porkmoney). They pay their workers 70k or less and they always deduct their salary at d end of every month for unreasonable reason.they also sack after 4 or 5 months of employment without paying for that month ur sacked so dey can employ another slave and pay peanuts.

Why should there be a body regulating how much salaries private companies pay their employees when there are no functional, active bodies regulating how government officials and office holders loot money meant for constructing good roads, steady electricity, water supply, national security, tax collection and proper utilization

Do you know how much tax private companies pay to Nigerian government and yet these useless government of Nigeria collect huge taxes from private companies and businesses and will never use the tax+crude oil revenue to build good roads, supply steady electricity and secure Nigeria and Nigerians.

Private companies hire private securities to protect their company and business properties, to escort their managerial staff members around town to avoid kidnapping or robbery, they even go to the extent of reconstructing roads leading to their company or factory premises that have been abandoned by government.

They use millions of naira to import power generators and they spend million monthly to buy fuel to power these giant generators so their factories and businesses can function, so why should the useless, failed, cursed Nigerian government have the right to regulate the amount of salaries they pay to their workers

If you don't like their pay, resign and go look for a government job!!! angry

Lily livered citizens of a failed nation! Why can't you all use same strength and anger and occupy the streets of Nigeria demanding for change in how useless President and Governors run Nigeria like Hong Kong citizens have been doing for weeks now, but fear and cowardice won't let you all, keep suffering and leave private companies out of your failures!!!

The problem i have when people at work get frustrated is TRANSFERRED AGGRESSION!
Imagine if someone working in Chi Group decides to poison a whole batch of products and resigns
Knowing that government will come after the company and the social media and public will scatter their image
Well, I guess this is what makes some waiters and service people in eateries talk with frustration and don't
give a hoot about their place of work and image or service quality.

In my business, I tell my workers that it's not a charity but business and I don't have a tree to pluck money, so all monies are self generated from the work as I have already provided the structure and tools, now it's left for them to use these things I've provided to make money.

Instead they expect jumbo pay and me to fix any problem and settle with all authorities without consideration that I have capital to recoup, needs to meet and business to grow.

I'm sorry for what this guy is going through, business owners should know that they were either once workers themselves or their children will be one day

Sad but true.

But then, these companies declare huge profits. So, it is the capitalist mindset, not like they are not breaking even.

Lol@government job. We can see how lackaidaisical majority of our civil sevants are. It is like pension scheme in active service for them...

Yes of course they ought to declare profit because they went into the business (trading, manufacturing, banking, real estate, insurance, logistics, etc) to make profit not to enrich employees.

In fact for your info, most private companies (multinationals) have a secret policy not to enrich their employees but to keep them comfortable/healthy to work, reason they retire top level EDs once they attain certain level and have gained considerable years of experience.

Whoever wants to be rich in life should summon the courage and go start his own business or company.

If not for secret looting and shady deals behind company knowledge, no employee of any firm will be rich, its how its supposed to be.

So their profit doesn't concern the employees, if an employee is tired of a job or pay, resign honorably and seek for job elsewhere, your employer is only obligated to pay you what he stated in your employment letter and based on other company terms and policies you signed while joining, nothing more.

Nigerians should vent their anger on the useless failed foolish, shameless President, Governors, Senators and Ministers destroying their future not private business or company owners that are not finding it easy to make ends meet and to break even.

The guy complaining, is he not aware that Chivita has been sold partially to NBC because of challenges in running the comy due to harsh economy situation in Nigeria.

Who believed Diamond Bank would close shop

Businesses and companies and factories aren't finding it funny in Nigeria, all thanks to the useless people ruling Nigeria yet the citizens can't revolt or occupy the streets but they can occupy the street because of El ZakZaky angry

As for government workers, majority of them are idle, they annoy me angry

Is there really a body responsible for regulating salaries of workers in private institutions?

I dedicate this first to comment to NwaAmaikpe. I wish it was you who'd be the first to comment instead of me.
Anywhere you are, if you're reading this, I'm your number one fan.
Nairaland is always boring without you.
How you combine humor, intelligence, sarcasm, bluntness etc and still make perfect sense beats me.

Hmm. It's only an employee that will not understand what employers go through to pay salaries of their workers. Let him go and open his company and pay salaries let's see before he talk about increment.
Local man is frustrated

Some employees won't understand, while working under a boss, I thought he wasn't been kind to us as our salaries are been paid every 15th of the next month. Boss travelled outside and I was to oversee the activities and maintain the organization, Believe u me, I find it difficult to pay my own self salary at the end of the month...No good employer want to enslave his employees, let's be reasonable with our company at times, the country is not favourable to any organization as of now...

Yinmu....
Dying in silence is not the way of freedom. Dying in silence is for slaves not real men. What frustration is worse than that he is facing? Asking him to keep quiet is a slave mindset. Did you even say 'what difference will his outburst make'? If Martin Luther thought like you, slavery will still be going on in America.
