Sir ernie4life, in FGN 14.55% APRIL 2029 BOND, last August successful bid was 14.39%, what should I bid for this September auction ...

I also want to know the reason for bidding in bond investment when it's already at 14.55% coupon......

...please kindly explain to me why bidding again....is it the higher I bid for it , the less amount I will pay for the Bond?

Am confused on the reason for bidding for the Bond when it's already at 14.55% for the April 2029 FGN bond. ..

It depends on the firm you are dealing with, some accept $10k while others $100K, you have to confirm from the firm you wish to deal with.
yes you can but make sure you discuss it out with the firm

Thanks for the great work on this thread!

Do u or anyone know about the Non-deliverable forward contracts for USD and how to get it?

And also how would u advice a $20k investment over 20years in Nigeria (Tbills or Eurobond) to be converted back to USD at maturity.

Many thanks!

I know about it, its a forward kind of contract, so party A has dollars and wants to convert and invest in naira but plans to convert back to dollars upon maturity but is concerned that exchange rate may have skyrocketed by then, so he enters in to a forward contract with party B(usually CBN), so lets say at the initiation of the contract exchange rate was 309/$, upon maturity exchange rate is now 400/$, party B will not give party A dollars instead the will pay you the difference in naira, in this case the difference is 91 naira, note that party A is still responsible for sourcing his dollars upon maturity, CBN usually publishes that forwards contract rate.

Like i said this is just a brief of how it works, there are other things in between, i have never done that type of transaction either, so i recommend you speak to your broker or bank for advise and more information.

If i had $20k with a 20 years investment horizon, first 10 years i will do 50% in dollars and 50% in Naira out of the 50% for naira i will do 20 in money market(treasury bills, commercial paper, fixed deposit or anyone that pays higher) 30% will be in stock market in the likes of GTB, zenith, NB etc, after 10 years, i will take another look at the outlook.
