Edit. Sorted. I am getting old. After three hours of agidi, I figured I should forget hdmi pass through and run hdmi in only. Once I did that everything came up - stereo, 5.1, 7.1, dolby atmos. Now the sound bar will be used properly.

Or maybe I have too much on my mind. Same way I wasted energy and money trying to connect router in the living room only to find I could easily set the router up wirelessly as a repeater.

anyways sometime last year i decided i was going for a full media center solution. living room pc with kodi as a frontend. movies, tv shows games, retro games, the whole 9 yards. big screen tv, dolby atmos soundbar. project kept getting delayed, but it is now mostly done.

it is snags here and there i am trying to sort out. as a rule, i take a lot of time agonising over some purchases, and when i make them, i intend to maximize them. the living room pc is a corsair one, and whenever we are playing a new game, i immediately make sure the graphics are MAXED out. no point in spending money if you will not enjoy it.

that was the genesis of connection struggle

I have had KODI setup like this for two years now and running. I have KODI running on my Mac hooked up to the TV in my bedroom, and connected to The Samsung TV in the living room via the media player app. So anything I turn on the PC in the bedroom, you can access my KODI movie/TV series/Game library stored in my NAS device from the living room Smart TV. It works great.

I've been meaning to install PlexKodiConnect addon to improve my overall streaming experience since, let's face it, KODI's lack of client server option can be a pain sometimes.
