(1.)find the point of intersection of two lines:
2x-3y+1=0 and 4y+3x+2=0 (2.) 1/x^2+1, what's x at infinity? thanks |

To get the first one you simply solve both equations simultaneously.... Abeg wait let me go and get my pen |

JESUSBOIY:1.simultaneous equation |
Re: Please Can You Solve These? by Regiomontanus(m): 3:55am On Jul 31, 2019 |
JESUSBOIY: 2x - 3y + 1 = 0 can be rewritten as y = ⅔x + ⅓ 4y + 3x + 2 = 0 can be rewritten as y = -¾x - ½ Solving simultaneously for x we have y = ⅔x + ⅓ = -¾x - ½ Solving for x we have x = - 10/17 Substituting this value of x into anyone of the original equations, say y = ⅔x + ⅓ yields y= - 1/17. The point of intersection is (-10/17, -1/17) |

For number 2 why is it equal to zero. What happened to the 1 that’s the numerator DesChyko: |
Re: Please Can You Solve These? by DesChyko: 9:29pm On Aug 05, 2019 |
ibizgirl: Generally, for a value like 1/b to be equal to infinity (where 1 is the numerator and b is the denominator), b is equal to 0. Look at it this way 1/5 = 2 1/2 = 5 1/0.5 = 2 1/ 0.01 = 100 You can see that as the denominator gets closer to zero, the answer becomes larger and larger. So it is when the denominator eventually gets to zero that it will give infinity as its answer. That's why I equated the denominator to zero. 1 Like |

DesChyko:deschyko, why is it necessary to multiply the first n second equation by 3 and 2? Question 1 |
Re: Please Can You Solve These? by DesChyko: 6:53am On Aug 15, 2019 |
DJHANDSOME: To make the coefficient of one variable in both equations the same so that when you subtract one equation from the other, the variable will be eliminated and you can easily solve for the other variable (Elimination method) In that case, I chose to eliminate variable 'x' so I multiplied the first equation with the coefficient of x in the second equation.. Then I multiplied the second equation with the coefficient of x in the first equation. If I chose to eliminate y, I would use the coefficients of y to multiply instead so that when I subtract, y would be eliminated. 2 Likes 1 Share |

DesChyko:deschyko, abeg EPP a student when you have the time Find the center and radius of a circle with equation: 3x^2+3y-9x+12y-9=0 |
Re: Please Can You Solve These? by DesChyko: 4:34pm On Aug 18, 2019 |
JESUSBOIY: This question appears incomplete. One of the y-variable should have a square. Let's assume it's 3y. If that is not the case, holla.
