sooooo
I got my hands on the redmi 7 this evening(**saw/held a xiaomi phone for the first time grin ) .. Its sleek tbh, the back feels like glass. The edges feels kinda curved in,reminded the of samsung s6 edge. Infact seeing the phone in pictures and videos is nothing compared to real life grin . The display is tall ooo...aswear I never knew 19:9 was is tall,na imagine how note7 19.5:9 or xperia 21:9 will be....maybe I feel this way because am used to 16:9/16:10 .
The phone isn't as big as I thought ooo, I could use it with one hand. The owner(Koladeisaac400) already activated gesture mode before he gave me..omo da thing hard for me oooo, but I go learn am sha.
The display looks good, but when in a white background(like settings) ,there is this weird 3d feeling as if the white background is deep and the text are floating on top ...maybe its my eyes sha grin ...
I wasn't about to test the camera since it was already dark but he has some shots already....he ve already download gcam sef,but night mode is crashing...ehn ehn ....ikon360 or anyone with good gcam settings, please share.

Coming to battery,he said its ok(sot below) you will notice in the picture because WiFi was off at a time..yea I turned off his WiFi/Bluetooth scanning and already told him to switch nondata sim to 2g.
Well, thats all for now smiley till tomorrow.
Btw tiri gbosa for genius43 grin

Did you download the settings XML file and imported it as instructed? If you did the night mode won't crash

Hello everyone.

From the reviews I have seen so far about the xioami phones, xoiami seems to be a nice brand after all thou I haven't had one on one experience with any of their device before due to the fact that in this part of the country(Minna to be precise )the phones are yet to make names for themselves.

It's a nice thing to talk about or rather focus on the positive side of something but it is necessary to also let people know of the negative part of something too especially when it comes to phones Just as the saying nobody is perfect, it also applies to phones too,This is a topic that was created to discuss strictly on xiomi devices and so far so good the topic is doing great.

The thing is I haven't come across any where that talks about the maintenance of the xiomi devices are being discussed ,What if my xiomi phone becomes faulty now can engineers we have over here can they be able to fix it? what about the spare parts of the phone can that be gotten easily without the need to start ordering for maybe the screen of the device? And the cost too.We don't always prayer for our phones to develop faults but at times its inevitable.

And coming to the durability of the xiomi devices, are they durable? because most(not all) people on this trend recently started using the brand and anything new will surely be working perfectly but what will happen after a year or let me say years of using the phones will they still be the their to tell the story?

What about the second hand value?like everyone knows this company is not yet known except here on NL,At a time maybe after few months u might decide to switch or let me say upgrade to another phone will that xiomi device u re having still have second hand value?imagine u buying a xiomi phone of 50 plus and intend of selling it mayb u might find your self in an area where the brand is not yet known do you think that phone will be sold at a good price ?

I will suggest also that a write up should be made on everything one needs to know about about xiomi devices I think that will answer most questions that 're being asked here

NOTE..I didnt come here to start up an argument but rather I came to be enlightened

1. The phones are very durable. And a lot of active people on this thread have used one or more Xiaomi device.

2. Repairing of Xiaomi devices is not Rocket device, any capable phone repairer can do it.

3. Because they have not fully setup their care centers the parts are not readily available in the Nigeria market. But those who have used them for the past 3 years or more have always ordered their genuine spare parts.

4. Xiaomi devices have a very good resale value better than Tecno and it's likes.

5. Minna don't have any Slot or Pointek store, that's why it is difficult to get there. Your Obasanjo complex phone sellers are not yet enlightened. With time they will.

The movement is real. Taste and see.

MediaTek G90 outperforms the Snapdragon 730 in AnTuTu and Geekbench
30 July 2019
MediaTek announced today its gaming-centric Helio G90 and G90T chipsets promising excellent gaming experience on a budget thanks to the cost-effective 12nm FinFET manufacturing process from TSMC. And the first benchmarks are in.

This score sheet from AnTuTu seems quite promising as the overall score is 222,282 - a score combining the CPU, GPU, UX and memory performance. When compared to some of its Qualcomm rivals, it turns out that the chipset is more powerful than the Snapdragon 730 found in the Xiaomi Mi 9T and the Samsung Galaxy A80, for example. In our database, the Snapdragon 730 on the Mi 9T scored 211,915 points.

We've also stumbled upon some benchmark results on Geekbench and all of them show around 7,000 points in multi-core performance. And although still better than the Snapdragon 730, the Geekbench listings date from April 15, so the chipset may have been since optimized even further.

It's indeed a promising duo, the Helio G90 and G90T, especially considering the price point. MediaTek promises to deliver the new chips with upcoming Xiaomi smartphones in India and something tells us that they are going to cost less than their Qualcomm counterparts

Nice. The competition is good for pricing.

The 730 should have better power efficiency than the G90 because of the process used in the manufacturing.

They recently arrived Nigeria market though most people here have been using it since before then... You could check out Raya, Pointek and Slot stores if available in your location to buy or here from @noobody.

There are service/maintenance centres in Lagos and PH even on this trend

There phones are quite durable been following them for years now then again some persons here still use the note 4 launched about 3years back

You need not worry about the second hand value as you'll get good asking price even from here as long as your phone is in perfect condition.

Then again that was quite an epistle you typed...

@dmgr

So on point, I have known the Xiaomi brand since 2012, before they adopted the android os to incorporate in their phones. Many people are using Xiaomi too, silently. @dmgr, hasnt taken cognizance of that, because, the brand hasnt gone viral, due to d fact that Xiaomi never advertise. Once one of the wholesalers in Complex start selling the device, it will also go viral. Because, the complex seems to be d only center for mobile stuffs.

As for spare parts thinking, that's like an old way of thinking. We are in a Jet age. Many businesses are going online. Sit at the comfort of ur home and order for stuffs via online through myriads of ecommerce websites. Besides, Xiaomi devices rarely develop faults. Most smartphone designs these days try as much to minimize faults.

As for the technicians that will fix any replaceable, any tecno & infinix technician that knows his stuff can also replace Xiaomi parts. Xiaomi hardly develop faults( earpiece, USB, mouth piece) etc, just as in Apple devices, most times it is just replacements of parts(screen).

Good morning guys, I don't know what happened but I just thank God for life...I use a redmi note 5 pro. I'm a kind of person that likes sleeping with the music on but I have roommates that don't share the same passion... So I use an earpiece while sleeping... But if my phone happens to be low, I won't use it cos i believe its dangerous to plug a phone and also fix earphones... Yesterday night I connected by Bluetooth airdots and plugged the phone, I even slept off with the phone on my chest plugged cos our beds has integrated sockets... This morning I woke up to check the phone and its still at 40%... I tried adjusting the charger and discovered it was fused to the phone... Sharp sharp sleep clear for my eyes lol... I already sold the phone and started spending the money self... Fast forward 10mins.... I uncoupled the phone around the charger to be able to remove it... Everything in that lower part was looking burnt and smelling burnt.. After testing, the speaker is
working fine, the headphone jack same, the mouthpiece also fine but the charging port not working anymore. Will go and investigate if there was a power surge later today. And I also bought a new USB somewhere don't know if that's the cause.
I just thank God. just trying to imagine that stuff burning my chest as whatever burned the charger did... I won't be saying this.

Where can I fix the phone in this lag... I don't want to just give anybody.... I just bought a case this weekend.... That's what probably protected my chest from being burnt.

If Samsung is her preference, she should go for A20 because I don't think M20 is available for the Nigerian market(I stand corrected). But if she does not have a Samsung preference. She can go for any phone within her budget. I'm assuming that should be a 50-60k bracket. She can get the Redmi 7 or Note 7. It all boils down to what she wants in a phone.

The M20 is a more powerful device. The A20 only has an Amoled display but a lower resolution than the M20
