He stole the coins, big brother knows he stole the coins. So asking him about it the same way he asked everyone else and not giving a clear response when ike asked if he broke any of the rules would make ike feel guilty and unsettled hence he returning them, he was being vague to someone who was already on pressure and needed some sort of reassurance . Plus it's not wickedness and there's no limit to the number of coins you should have, you're allowed to take coins as long as you don't use force. Later in the game when the coins come into play and they see how important they are maybe Mercy would regret her actions.

You people are too emotional.. Did Biggie asked him to drop it? He didn't drop it because he is afraid of what biggie said.. He dropped it because he wasn't the one that originally picked it from Esther.
It was Mercy that picked it and she was obviously sad and loosing sleep about it. If he really love Mercy and want her happy, the best thing to do is to return it.. It is called sacrifice.
Like I said last night, Mercy did absolutely nothing wrong to tell Biggie.. Biggie sees all and we viewers are aware of what really happened.

During the truth and dare game last night.. Mercy asked Ike if he love her, Ike replied with "I am falling in love".That was when I realized that they will soon clear that coins issue.
