A client was Wednesday mercilessly beaten by some security operatives attached to the First bank branch at Osapa, Lekki, Lagos.

Trouble allegedly started when the victim got involved in a heated argument with another bank customer and refused to to leave the banking hall after being told to.

He, instead, insisted on closing his account with the bank and withdrawing all his money before leaving. However, his stance didn’t go down well with the security men, who descended on him heavily and even hit him with a gun.

I don't want to take this story line, hook and sinker. The blogger has not been very truthful. It's not possible that a customer will just into a banking hall inform them that he/she wants to close his/her account, and security men on duty will just descend on that person. Not possible, never. It goes much more than we are being told.

Read before you type. His decision to close the account came in when they asked him to leave the banking hall which was wrong. How can you tell one customer to leave the bank cos of an argument with another customer? They should have tried to settle them and pacify the raging one. A customer is always a king, whether an irrate one or a loyal one, treat them with care and respect.

That guy might be on a pre-robbery bank attempt to cause anarchy in d bank. Thanks to the Swift action of security operatives.

Everytime First bank. The last one na manager call police to punish customers now na beat dem beat diz one. I no just like that bank. Thank God i neva dreamed for once of opening account there. Poor services

What should the security of the bank have done?

Some people just misbehave in very wrong time and expect a VIP treatment.

If you behave in a manner that suggest that other customers are at risk, then this treatment is given to you.

Highly unprofessional and unethical from FBN. How can policemen carry live ammunition in the banking hall? When customer insisted on closing his account why not jejely allow him to do so. The sad thing is that even if he takes it to court the banks will bribe the judges and the case will be postponed indefinitely. But in all if he has a good lawyer who has PR the negative publicity should be equal to innoson vs GTB, then they will settle out of court.
However, what if the customer tried to rob someone in the banking hall. Need full details before passing judgment.

No this mentality is wrong and will put you in trouble if you ever get to advanced countries or try it in some nigerian banks. Customers are not supposed to shout in the banking hall, no matter the aggravation, your shouting might scare other customer or even babies there. The best thing to do would have been to leave the bank first calm down. In the US the security will throw you out of the bank for raising your voice talkless of shouting. Although I think that guy tries to rob someone in that bank which explains the numerous policemen.

And here comes mr firstbank pro. Very dumb attempt. Why the sudden switch from "the guy is trying to rob the bank" to "that guy might be on pre-robbery blahblahblah"? Did you not see the beating? What did the guy do to warrant that sort of beating from a supposed security officer?
I once worked in the bank and for this video to surface is a very serious indictment to that branch from head office.
I remember having squabbles with firstbank at Egbeda branch, and I took the matter to head office.
The next day I appeared at the branch once again, the HO had to usher me to her office and even gave me coffee.
The assault can happen outside without much qualms, but inside banking hall??

This kind of situation, if the security asks you to leave, you leave. It's a banking hall, not a public space per se. People are jittery.

You can go to another branch the following day or the same day and close your account jejely.

I'm not sure he'll win in court though.
