Some people say population is our problem. Yet, they forget that in our population resides our drive and motivation to succeed and this is why Nigerians always thrive to be exceptional. Only if our political sphere is good enough. davibid: 1 Like |

TSRC:For some of us, business news is more important than political news and we need it as it happens, not 2 weeks later. How will you feel if the news of Buhari's ministerial list hit FP for the first time today and you only just got to know about it? |

White people owning our media and perverting it is not an accomplishment, furthermore, their involvement only means they want to own our art and push black people out. 2 Likes |

Population is our greatest asset, if harnessed appropriately just like China did. The entertainment industry is highly successful because it’s the only sector that there’s nothing like nepotism and tribalism, it’s pure simple competition where the best is rewarded. If you don’t produce a good song, nobody buys it regardless of your tribe, if you produce shitty movie, you get the reward instantly. You see collaborations between all the tribes. Just imagine that all the sectors of the Nigerian society functioned that way, where we truly had a society driven by meritocracy we would have truly been the giant of Africa. traihit: 1 Like |

When was the last time you have heard of an African buying out a European, Asian or American conglomerate?. Those who control the media control the narrative and their image. Never trust the Frenchs, there is always an agenda 1 Like |

traihit:It is because your political sphere is not as competitive. Other sectors get the best of the best but not the politics. If our politics was ranked like our entertainment industry, the last two candidates in 2019 with the least number of votes should be buhari and atiku. |
Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by traihit: 2:13pm On Aug 01, 2019 |
TSRC: What could be the reasons for this and how can Nigeria ensure that it is people of great intellectual pedigree that gets to participate in elections? How do we ensure that our democracy is not left to the dogs to compete? |
Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by TSRC: 2:18pm On Aug 01, 2019 |
traihit:I honestly don't know. If we adopt the American electoral system where who.wins is.not by the highest number of overall votes, then it could be possible to have better candidate winning. But in a case of Nigeria, where the largely illiterate north have far more votes than any where else, we will keep getting the worst candidates with a lot of money or ethno religious support. 1 Like |

Africans are always so quick to give up their little Innovations to Western companies who will only pay them peanuts to take over the industry and re-exploit them all over again, smh. The cycle always repeat itself. 2 Likes |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti5XkDwNcag French Canal+ BUYS Nigeria's Biggest Film Studio ROK France's largest Television Network Canal + has bought Nollywood's largest studio as their viewership in French speaking countries increases with a consequent interest in Africa movies and TV shows. My only fear is that slowly they will start to push their ideologies into our movies 1 Like |

TSRC: Actually when it comes to merger and acquisition deals it profits the two sides. Canal + wanted a stake in Africa's movie market that has been expanding in its growth which Iroko TV is a major player while Iroko wanted access to the global capability of canal +. Moreover when the news was announced about two weeks ago Mrs Njoku is still the MD of the company. Still running the production and everything about it. Good deal for both sides. |

Horus:.canal + is here to make money. Changing the ideology would not help them make money They just want a steady supply of movies for their African market. |
Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by Cousin9999: 4:35pm On Aug 02, 2019 |
TSRC: If they just wanted films, they could cut a contract deal with Nigerian studios for access to media. That happens all the time. They bought the whole studio. That's a power move. They want power over our art, our message, and our earnings. Changing ideology does make them more money. They cater to white racist fantasies and white people throw money at them. 1 Like |

Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by TSRC: 5:16pm On Aug 02, 2019 |
Cousin9999:They bought a studio, not our art. We have many other studios. If you read the article, canal is trying to pander to African viewers abroad. Those racist white market can no longer satisfy their revenue goals given the stiff competition between Netflix and co. They want the African global market and changing the ideology would not help their bottom line. Besides, It could be a majority partnership in the company. Mary Njoku is still the CEO. |

Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by Ajsmart(m): 7:54pm On Aug 03, 2019 |
TSRC: Canal is too big of a corporation to share stakes with an African innovator. The best they will offer is take over completely and re-employ the innovator in order to exploit further creativity and continuity. Eventually the Innovator becomes a puppet until the entire industry is revamped to the Corporation’s taste and the cultural values are diluted and watered down. This is an old tirick but the naive Africans will rejoice at the impending detriments. No Euroepan or American organisation will have the interests of the African in mind. Wise up! 1 Like |

Ajsmart:I don't see how diluting anything will serve canal's interest. Their target market is African global viewers. Their aim is to make money, not to carry out cultural imperialism. That is why they still have the Lady in charge. Do your thing and send us the money. I am more concerned about the economic aspect than any cultural change. |
Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by Cousin9999: 8:52pm On Aug 03, 2019 |
TSRC: 1. Media is an arm of the government and its interests first. 2. Their target market is who they can make the most money from. They don't care about the black market other than to use us as taste makers and resources for innovation. They will tailor content for racist, rich masses who want to see stereotypes acted out to manage their insecurity and their jealousy with regard to us and our cultures. 3. Whites don't like Nollywood. They hate the idea of black media that excludes them and their sickness. It literally makes them angry to think black people will eventually stop consuming white media and only consume black media fully owned by black people. It makes them angry to think we have media that contradicts their sick ideologies, and focuses on the beauty and diversity of our culture/history/experiences. |
