olaolu11:It is correctly connected. Judging from the comments so far the problem is the charge controller. it seems it is wired for 24v system. I hope mptt cc will not do the same. |

I discovered 10 different parameters/readings. Some i understand from the diagrams other I can fathom a guess. Someone pls explain the readings so I can be doubly sure. I shall post the pictures presently |

olaolu11: 1234: system is not giving out or receiving power 5: max voltage of charge is set at 14.2. for the safety of you gel battery reduce it to 13.8 or 13.9 6: steady voltage output supplied by your battery 7: min voltage your battery gets to before alarm is raised. 10: Battery voltage reading as at that time.12.9v=100% |

@ deluxe Combining panels of different wattage is very wrong except you are using mppt cc and not pmw cc |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by harizonal123(m): 7:28am On Aug 03, 2019 |
olaolu11:. Very correct. Energy conservation is a must. I had to change almost all appliances before I could enjoy my single 12v200a & my battery has never read below 50% since then. Have a DC 15"tv of 20w, instead of my 49"tv of 60w, DC standing fan 19w instead of my ceiling fan of 70w. I even have 1w bulbs that I don't use cos it's too deem for my liking. Had to replace them with 3w bulbs. Although I'm currently saving money to get a second battery but with my 15" tv I can now watch TV as long as I want. Solar energy is money I tell you. It has not been an easy journey so far but it's very sweet enjoying noiseless electricity 24hrs |

harizonal123:Good morning, my own battery reads about 12.40v when full, don't know why although I got the battery used and I think I am under utilizing my 260watts solar panel as I get a maximum of 12amps on a 12v system with a 30amp pwm cc. Do you think I should get a mppt cc as I think I should be getting like 20amps with that size of panel. The battery is a 12v, 200ah |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by harizonal123(m): 8:34am On Aug 03, 2019 |
Penuelseun:12.4v=60% charge. You have been under charging it if it's a gel battery. If you have a good cc you can reset that value to 13.8v |

Thank you Sir! I was trying to say something similar in an indirect manner to not cause offense - a seemingly huge lead acid battery bank but sized for 6kw continuous loads - meanwhile, inverter size was 30kw or more - if the average running loads were more than 6kw as it appeared likely from the inverter requirements then you have a sure fire recipe for early battery failure and millions of naira down the drain. idsolar: 1 Like |

Barezzi: Anyone who wants to set up a solar inverter system must invest some time in understanding how it works. Either by reading up or coming to a forum like this and seeking for the opinions of knowledgeable people. Many installers out there just took some few days or few weeks crash courses and start calling themselves experts. For me, I design my system based on my readings and information gathered from different sources and only get an installer to do the hard work of buying materials, climbing the roof, fixing the panels and connecting the wires. In Nigeria, you need to educate yourself to some degree before calling artisans or installers be it for your car, house appliances or solar, otherwise, some will turn you to an ATM and even destroy your things with their poor knowledge and then get you to pay for their costly mistakes. 5 Likes |

harizonal123:it is not a gel battery, it is a sla battery, I set the bulk voltage to 14.7v and float voltage to 13.8v but I have never seen it enter float, the cc just cuts off the voltage when it stays for a while on 14.7v, it still reads 12.4v after a full charge |

Penuelseun: I wonder how u can get 12a from that panel on a pwm CC for a 12v system, using that 260 w panel @ ~31v? Can I see d pic of d Cc? Get mppt CC, u re using a wrong CC for ur system. Or get two 12v panels of 150/160 w each and connect them in parallel. Mod., U need around 500 w solar panel for a 200ah 12v battery. Or else, ur battery may have issue (s) around this period (july~mid September). |

Is your battery meter the regular multi-meter or battery load tester or a battery analyzer? lexi28: |

Deluxe8000: @bolded...even the grid you see, you will be amazed at the maintenance monitoring that goes into that provision of grid power. Maybe expand your ongrid setup and utillize it for all your needs. Solar may not be for you after all. Honest view from me. 1 Like |

Trippledots: I got a toks 24" BUSH LED TV for 26k about a year back from Alaba. it consumes 20w only. I took along my wattmeter (that's standard practice now). sellers thought I was weird. you could do the same when going to buy your next gadget. 4 Likes 1 Share |
