A day that starts with fried plantain and hot chocolate drink is bound to end on a sweet note

Who else loves fried plantain dipped in pap ?

Finally. Simple creamy ukwa and king fish steak.
So satisfying.
Looks soft
Did you add anything to it to make it that soft ?
Mine hardly cooks ... sad
I'll cook for hours, still...

The thing is, I have doubts about the safety of potash as there's not much information about it .
You know what I used the last time to make my ukwa soft eventually ? A fork .
I've read about how a fork or spoon can soften food, so after cooking the ukwa for more than an hour without it being soft, I was mad at it for wasting my cooking gas and I was going to turn off the heat and damn the whole thing, then I decided to give it one last chance, I dropped the fork in, and within 30mins, voilà!

Add akanwu or ngo to it. Melt it with water, sieve with a handkerchief and add the liquid content to the ukwa.

If you have concerns about potash, use a pressure pot. My sil once told me about the spoon and nail thingy.

I used an instant pot (pressure cooker).

40mins and it’s done.
