A Nigerian, Adewale Adeyemo, has been appointed president of the Obama Foundation. The Nigerian-American economic expert becomes the first-ever president of the foundation, Igbere TV reports. Adeyemo, 39, will lead “the implementation of the organisation’s strategic plan and managing its organisational structures and functions.’’ A statement by the chairman of the foundation’s board, Martin Nesbitt, said: “Wally is the ideal person to help lead the foundation team as we continue to grow the impact of our global civic engagement programs and advance the Obama Presidential Centre.” Adeyemo was deputy national security adviser (NSA) for international economics during the administration of former president Obama. He is reputed to have helped the US combat the global economic recession of 2008. Adeyemo helped in the establishment of the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and he was described by Obama as the ”point person” on a range of international economic issues, including negotiations on strong currency agreements around the trans-pacific partnership. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, before moving to Yale Law School, where he bagged his Juris Doctor (JD) for further studies in Specialised Law. At Yale, he was the co-director, project on law and education for the university. Source; http://igberetvnews.com/877234/nigerian-man-appointed-first-president-of-obama-foundation/ 34 Likes 6 Shares

SUBSCRIBE BREAKING NEWS NEWS Obama Foundation taps former White House official as its first president By LOLLY BOWEAN CHICAGO TRIBUNE | AUG 01, 2019 The Obama Foundation has tapped a past member of the former president’s administration to join the top brass of the Chicago-based organization, officials announced Thursday. Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo has been named the foundation’s first president and will manage the daily operations of the foundation and oversee its many programs and initiatives, such as the Obama Fellows, Obama Scholars, the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and the Girls Opportunity Alliance. He will also be in charge of working to develop the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park. Adeyemo is scheduled to start in the coming weeks, and he takes on the role just as work restarts on a federal review process, which is required to get the presidential center constructed. The sprawling campus is expected to cost $500 million to build and is being closely watched, in part because it has the potential to transform several troubled communities by attracting tourists and investors. The project has also sparked controversy, as many residents have expressed worry about displacement, rising property taxes and access to newly created jobs related to the center. Wally Adeyemo Senior Adviser (Non-resident), Simon Chair in Political Economy EXPERTISE: Economics, Global Economic Governance ASSOCIATED PROGRAMS: Simon Chair in Political Economy Wally Adeyemo served as deputy national security adviser for international economics and deputy director of the National Economic Council, serving as President Barack Obama’s senior international economic adviser. In that capacity, he was responsible for coordinating the policymaking process related to international finance, trade and investment, energy, and environmental issues. Mr. Adeyemo also served as the president’s representative to the G7 and G20. He has held several senior management positions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, including senior adviser and deputy chief of staff. In that role, he advised the secretary of the treasury on a range of issues, including international economics and financial regulation. Mr. Adeyemo served as the Treasury Department’s chief negotiator for the Trans-Pacific Partnership’s provisions on macroeconomic policy and worked extensively with Congress and international counterparts to advance the president’s agenda. After the passage of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, Mr. Adeyemo served as the first chief of staff at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). In that capacity, he helped to build the bureau’s initial executive leadership team and served as a member of the CFPB Executive Committee. Prior to joining the Obama administration, Mr. Adeyemo was an editor for the Hamilton Project, a program at the Brookings Institution focused on advancing public policy proposals that contribute to long-term economic growth. He holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from Yale Law School. 2 Likes

Now first he invites Igbo Chimuamanda Adiche to his house to dine, now Yoruba president just because Nigerians have been voicing support for Trump on Social media.
