So how come it’s not killing them who inside the factory everyday?
Not an expert in this field, but Nigerians dumping electronics/PCs in landfills are doing way more damage.

They can simply be fined and made to regularize their business...
Charged back taxes plus interest/penalties, while keeping jobs in Nigeria.

Illegal job.. A job they cant tell people about.. How does that help our economy..

It helps our economy by keeping them off the streets and under bridges looking for folks to rob...
The value of a job is NOT that you can brag to people about it, but you earn a living and develop skills.

You can imagine these ones o...
They came on a one month visa but refused to leave cos they've been enjoying Nigeria...To the extent of setting up a factory and polluting our environment....
Imagine a Nigerian telling that to Trump
idsamoo:

Young man,so because they are not immigration officers means they should leave these guys to live in our country illegally and still established factory that is detrimental to our health. If they can't come through the right channel to establish their factory and pay their tax legally, they deserve to be arrested.... Can you even try that in their country and go Scot free? That's why Nigeria can never move forward because of Terrible with terrible mindset like this!
Freedem:
You see , you are a slave. You don't want the citizens to enjoy their rights as full citizens but accept Chinese people destroying the environment on an illegal visa.

Please go and take an iq test
I'm sure your brain isn't bigger than that of a monkey

I hope the authorities make an example out of these illegal aliens. Imagine, they are in the country illegally and committing illegal acts against the country...polluting the environment. What a country Nigeria is!
FManager:

Your a stupid pig angry, don't you know what harm that's stuff does to the environment, the factory they operate is illegal and they know about this, just imagine when Nigerians do the same in their country imagine the scrutiny, but they do it here and it's ok.

Fucking prick tongue
Fourwinds:
it is not about them creating job but the impact the pollution has on the environment ... Don't just comment without weighing the magnitude of pollution on the environment

It appears so many commenters cannot distinguish between e-waste and e-waste recycling... undecided

E-waste is what almost ALL Nigerians do - simply dump their used electronics/PCs in the bin or landfill...
E-waste RECYCLING is what these dudes are doing - collecting, sorting and recycling e-waste components.

What Nigerians do is HARMFUL to (and pollute) the environment...
What these guys are doing (if properly done) can be HELPFUL for the environment.

If a every body around that environment are subjected to medical test, what the laboratory technicians will discover from each and every one them will send shivers down your spine.

Every E-waist is a potential health hazard, electronic materials are a carrier of mercury, when they are been handled in an unprofessional ways, like what the Chinese expatriates just did and their likes, and in the process water washes them down our water bodies. The effect of it arises when we use the water domestically, for our food, when we drink it,considering that most people don't have potable drinking water, and the fishes are not left out,we consume them their by causing more harm to our body tissues,if a pregnant woman consumed mercury infested fishes,it affects the unborn child, leading to poor mental development,it can cause cancer etc.

Now,your question is,why are the workers not affected, have u thought of the gradual deposition of all this substances and its long term effects. Just google about mercury to educate yourself more. Thank u and do have a wonder day

I know the difference between "e-waste" and "recycling e-waste" but just because "waste" has a prefix "Recycling" before it does not necessarily mean it's safer or good for the environment. I can understand you lauding their efforts in trying to recycle e-waste but the issue of recycling in Nigeria is fraught with problems. There are no safety laws implemented for e waste recycling. Lots of environmental issues are created in the process of disassembling of the electronic waste. There's huge costs involved and is highly dangerous because they consists of the heavy metals, like Cathode Ray Tubes, Mercury, Lead, Chromium, Brominated Flame Retardants, Arsenic, Selenium, Cobalt etc.

With increase in substandard recycling factories means more pollution. Several gases are emitted during the recycling process like Methane, which is known to contribute to global warming and the ozone diminution if not managed properly and allowed to leak in the open. And judging by their operation, they had no intention of spending the money to make the process safe. Their main goal is to make as much money as they possibly can and could care less whther or not their process is safe for the enviroment. Just because it's called recycling does not always mean the process is safer than not recycling. So, all I am saying is that, sometimes you're better off leaving well enough alone!

First, you do NOT know (and btw neither do I) how the Chinese handle or treat the e-waste in this plant, so you are in no position to make the sorts of sweeping generalizations you are indulging in. Nonetheless, you cannot (at least not RATIONALLY) be arguing that what these dudes are doing is worse than the what the vast majority of Nigerians currently do with their e-waste, which is just discarding in the nearest bin, gutter, canal or landfill, and/or burning same. That’s what should be bothering everyone, not the xenophobic concept of foreign boogeymen.

You seemed to have completely missed my qualifier if properly done...
Of course almost anything not properly done can cause a lot more harm than good.

Since neither you nor I are privy to the operations of this particular plant...
You are NOW arguing on the ASSUMPTION (which you previously did not make) that it’s improperly run.

There should have been no reason for your qualifier "if properly done" when the article clearly stated that their operation was emitting toxic fumes. Any reasonable person who read the article would understand that their operation was not following the best practices. So, I just did not get your point unless you read the article with lack of comprehension.

But hopefully you were standing in front of a mirror when you wrote the highlighted.

I guess we are getting into the silly season here. Yea, we need a scientist to tell the residents of the area or the cops who arrested them that the fumes that the factory was emitting is toxic or not just like you need a scientist to tell you that the fumes spewing out from cooking with coal is toxic. And besides, if your initial comment was based on the same article that I and every other person read including you, then your comment was headed in the wrong direction and totally out of place.
