Haven read from both the Nigerian police and the Nigerian army, I think both security forces should work hand in hand especially now that the security of the country is in comatose. This occurrence should not repeat it's self again, the Nigerian police on the other hand should always move with police registration vehicle, and if possible with their police uniform on, the country is going through serious security challenges.

The soldiers acted based on intelligent information, from members of the public, that there are kidnappers moving towards their direction, and perhaps, wen they were stopped, instead of obeying, they choose to disobey and even exchange fire for fire with the army boys, that is from the the statement.

I don't believe either sides. There's a conspiracy involved. It is near impossible not to stop or slow down at Nigerian military checkpoints that I know. Even if you don't want to stop, the way they arrange their barricades would force u to stop or slow down. I'm still wondering how they drove off without stopping from three checkpoints that warranted these shameful killings.

my brother I tire ...since when did the army start receiving complains reports on kidnapping crimes ...without wanting to say much , the escaped suspect is definitely not your everyday kidnapper and his arrest would have exposed more

I understand them being on hidden/secret/covert duty by the IG, but IG will not ask you not to stop when you are pursued by soldier at three different location, especially this time around that kidnapping is rampant....

LESSON

In any command by your bosses , always use your discretion, a dead man will not receive medal for being brave.

Madness, a team was sent from Abuja to a different location to carryout a duty. Knowing fully well how fragile and unsafe that state is they decided not to identify themselves at three different military checkpoints, now three officers are dead and the suspect is at large. Is it just me that feels this was just a setup ?
lol! it should have been 5 check point maybe 5 police would have kill.

Maniagist1:
The Nigerian Army on Wednesday offered explanation for the killing of three policemen on covert duties in Taraba State by its personnel.

The explanation was offered in a statement by the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sagir Musa.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police Frank Mba, had earlier in the day said three operatives in the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, headed by DCP Abba Kyari, were killed by the soldiers in Taraba State despite identifying themselves as being on covert operation to arrest one Alhaji Hamisu, a suspected kidnapper.
Hamisu was said to have been involved in several crimes, collecting N100 million as ransom during one of such operations.

However, Mba said as Hamisu was being driven to the Police Command Headquarters in Jalingo, they were engaged in fierce shooting by soldiers, resulting in the death of three policemen, a civilian and the escape of the suspect.

But Musa countered Mba, saying the IRT operatives refused to stop at three military checkpoints and then engaged the soldiers in a shootout.

He said some villagers had raised the alarm that the operatives were in an unmarked bus and refused to stop at the checkpoints, which resulted in the soldiers giving them a hot chase.

On the unfortunate incident that occurred on the 6th of August 2019 in which troops of 93 Battalion Nigerian Army Takum pursued and exchanged fire with some suspected Kidnappers who indeed turned out to be an Intelligence Response Team from the Police Force Headquarters Abuja on a covert assignment from Abuja resulting in the death and injury of some members of the Team.

On the 6th of August 2019, the said Nigerian Army troops, while responding to a distress call to rescue a kidnapped victim exchanged fire with the suspected kidnappers along Ibi-Wukari Road in Taraba State.

The suspected kidnappers numbering about ten (10) and driving in a white bus with Reg No LAGOS MUS 564 EU refused to stop when they were halted by troops at three consecutive check points.

The flagrant refusal of the suspected kidnappers to stop at the three checkpoints prompted a hot pursuit of the fleeing suspects by the troops.

It was in this process that the suspected kidnappers who were obviously armed opened fire at the troops sporadically thus prompting them to return fire.

In the resultant fire fight, four (4) suspects were shot and died on the spot while four (4) others sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds and 2 others reportedly missing.

It was only after this avoidable outcome that one of the wounded suspects disclosed the fact that they were indeed Policemen dispatched from Nigerian Police, Force Headquarters, Abuja for a covert assignment.

I thought kidnapping is only peculiar to the easterners?

The police men on a covert mission never opened fire on the military, I can bet on that with my left scrotum.
Then, the suspect escaped; WONDERFUL!!!
Please bet with your right scrotum because d left one u bet is not working, lol. but on more serious note, d army only try to cook some defense ruse and to me, their story and excuse is not heavy to convince d public on d sad incident, and to look at it that no single casualty on d army side fully displayed of ambushed.

The army is obviously not telling the truth. How can collaborate their statement that they received distress call citing the police to be kidnappers and claiming at the same time that the police refused to stop at three different check points?

Again, they succeeded to kill 3 police men and the main suspected kidnapper escaped?

What a dump excuses by the army?

So many questions..
But the prominent ones...

I'm guessing the suspect must have been on cuffs.
Who uncuffed him?
How did he escape just like that?

How come he didn't get hit?

And why did they bring this to the media nau?
... Even mentioning the #100mil... Now some bad people will start to think Kidnapping is a lucrative venture.
